Union Hotel in Benicia

The room was unique and spacious with wonderful antique furniture. The view was less than mentioned but it was there. The bed was comfortable with bottom sheet that didn't quite tuck in on all sides.LOL All said it was comfortable BUT noisy. Walls very thin. the union hotel in Benicia, ca is really a great place to stay. Especially if you not too OCD about having everything in your hotel room brand new and sterile. When you stay in this 1850s hotel, located in the quaint little heart downtown Benicia, you get to travel back in time a bit to a more quiet and simple place. the rooms have all you need . they […] are charming in an old fashioned way, not perfectly designed but enjoyable. the surprising thing about this location is that amidst the old town style you have great restaurants and bars. We just loved taking a little trip back in time staying in down town benicia. The union hotel is right in the middle of it all. The union hotel has a lot of history too, that makes it fun for us, kind of like staying in a museum. we showed up after hours, our key was on the door it was very simple and we never once had to deal with the front desk. We've stayed at the Union twice before and this was our third time. We'd stay again, but couldn't recommend it to others. The location is great, one room has an incredible view of the Carquinez Strait and its bridges, and it is unique, but that's the end of the good news. The service is minimal, the whole place is shabby, and parking is on a public […] street, although parking has never been a problem for us. Overall, it has the feel of a rundown B&B. It just had too much of a "homey" feel for us. We had planned to stay there on the return trip but opted for a facility with more modern amenities.

Located in the heart of the restored old town of Benicia the Union Hotel was a quaint bed & breakfast type inn. If you are looking for absolute luxury, this is not it, but if you want a nice, homey and clean place to stay in the heart of a vibrant old town district this is it. The area is fun to walk around in, nice antique shops, fun knick knack shops, nice restaurants and some fun, interesting bars. It was awful. We had a two night stay but only stayed 1 night because I could not get over the smell in the room. The bathroom floor was dirty and the towels they had were old and didn't look very clean. I would never stay there agin. They need to paint the inside of the room.
