I would recommend this hotel. Our 3 day stay was wonderful. The hotel is in a nice quiet spot at the end of Edgartowns busy Main street.It's just steps away to all the downtown shops and restaurants. Without a doubt this hotel has the best view overlooking Edgartown lighthouse. Our room had this spectacular view (thank you Amanda). The Harbour Hotel […] Staff was fabulous. From Todd the concierge to Amanda at the front desk, to Keiko our maid, as well as Lisa, Michael D and Cindy in the restaurants. They all catered to our every wish and need with a warm and genuine smile and with seasoned experience in their respective positions. The one and ONLY negative I had was the restaurant exhaust smell I could detect from 7-10pm from my room because I like to have my window open at night to get fresh air. I stayed in Room #14 at the Harbor View Hotel to celebrate an anniversary weekend. I'll start with the positives. First, I liked the fact that our room was large and had a DVD player. The bed and pillows were comfortable. I thought the location was amazing and the hotel lobby was beautiful and clean; however, I can't say the same about our room. I arrived at 1pm and learned that the check-in time was 4pm. The front desk did not try to find us a room that was ready and available; nor did they offer to hold our bags until the check-in time. I choose the right place to stay to rest and relax. A very friendly staff, a charming atmosphere where my wife and me spent our short vacation. That is a place where everybody might stay at least once in a life.

Great location--beautiful Hotel-Great Staff --but if you're looking for quiet don't book the second floor landing of the main building.. Noise level is easily heard ,constant piped in music from Bar & Restaurant on the floor below and our last night the music was left on and I couldn't reach anyone until after 3:30 in the morning to turn it off so we […] could sleep. Noise from above when people thumped across the floor and could hear conversations from the rooms next door--walls are thin--I am sure there are quieter areas within the hotel but not where we were.so if you prefer a quiet area be sure to ask for one. Edgartown light house is right across the street and an easy walk to the beach with nice views from some of the rooms. Hotel Restaurant is on the expensive side so check prices if you're on a budget. I knew this hotel has high reputation but it was more thanI I expected. I could feel the same quality with excellent hotel in Japan. In Japan in expensive hotel, everything is perfect...taste, hospitality, and so on. We checked into the hotel with a very reduced Internet rate, to find we would be placed in the Mayhew Wing behind the main hotel. We asked to upgrade to the main building, which is charming and historic, and also asked for a view of the waterfront. The front desk gave us a beautiful corner room, with a view of the harbor and the lighthouse, for a very […] reasonable upgrade fee. The total was one-quarter of the summer rates and we loved the experience of seeing Edgartown in the winter months. Superb hotel with fabulous views, rooms were good, close to shops nice neighborhood!

SUCH A WONDERFUL SURPRISE! We wanted to move in. Everything was amazing- location, staff, cleanliness, food (incredible). Ridiculously wonderful. Would go back in a heartbeat.

FABULOUS HOTEL..DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER ON THE ISLAND FOR THOSE WHO WANT A GREAT HOTEL, CLEAN, EFFICIENT, AMAZING LOCATION, WONDERFUL FOR FAMILIES AND WONDERFUL FOR THOSE TRAVELING FROM OVERSEAS WHO WANT A UPSCALE, HAVE EVERYTHING TYPE OF HOTEL IN THE "RIGHT' PLACE. GREAT BAR IN THE EVENING WITH WRAP AROUND PORCH WITH ROCKERS OVERLOOKING WATER.

Loved it. The place is so charming and so Martha's Vineyard. I almost don't want to say too much because, believe me, you'll want to be surprised. I normally can't get too excited about hotels but this hotel is different - the feel, the ambiance, the restaurant (one of the best on the Island)... and its proximity to Edgartown (15min walk) and Oak Bluffs […] (10-15min drive). It's a sane place during October, though swimming is out of the question for most. The hotel rates are much more affordable, but the service remains the same quality. The hotel restaurant and bar are excellent; locals are frequent customers. It is a short walk tom the town center and close o the Chappy ferry. October brings sales!

The hotel is very nice - attractive, well-maintained, and in a very pretty area. We visited the premises during the off-season, however, and the service was quite poor. Our breakfast (which cost $40) took close to 45 minutes to arrive. After repeated requests for coffee refills, we found a pot and served ourselves. The front desk person offered to "upgrade" […] us and ended up sending us to our original room. He changed the reservation in the computer, however, so that our room was listed as unoccupied. This resulted in another couple entering our room with a key the next morning; room service knocking at our door in the early morning, clearly expecting the room to be empty; and our meal being charged to the wrong room.. all due to this mis-entry. While checking out, I over-heard several other patrons checking out, all who had some sort of complaint. I am going to give the hotel the benefit of the doubt and assume that the service would have been better had they been adequately staffed, as they probably had decreased their personnel, due to being off-season. Offered an upgrade on arrival at a reduced rate. The room was large, HOWEVER a large air conditioner for downstairs was located below the room and the noise was LOUD and constant all night. Very annoying. Concierge and staff very helpful. Asking for a cup of tea with breakfast was challenging - drinking coffee would have been easier to do - but not […] what international guests expect at such a destination. Told no need to book in the restaurant when we tried to then when we went to dinner we were told we couldn't have a table and had to wait just on an hour. (Unless we were prepared to sit on bar stools in the dark bar at a table the size of a serviette jammed up against a pole - hardly an enjoyable way to eat.) Two young women we traveled with, were told to walk into town ( in the rain) to eat as they weren't serving after 9pm and there would be no room service, which wasn't consistent with what the staff had said on arrival. End of season communication problems perhaps? The meal was good when we got it. However the hotel is beautifully located with loads of character and wifi in the lounge/verandah. Lees meer

Loved the Harbor View Hotel; excellent location. Great breakfast and restaurant/bar. Easy to walk to the beach or downtown Edgartown.

The Harbor View has the most fabulous views, just sitting on the front porch! We had a fantastic time exploring Edgartown, even in the off season. The food at Henry's Bar was delicious, as the main restaraunt at the hotel was shut down for the season. Perhaps if you are in the main building of the hotel you will have a wonderful experience, but that was not to be for me. When my daughter and I saw the hotel from the street we were thrilled. It is positioned at the the point facing the water and the lighthouse and is lovely. However, upon check in we were told our room was in a building behind the […] hotel and we were given our key with no offer of help as we wheeled out large suit cases and walked to the back on the hotel, around the pool to a very basic motel looking 2 story building. We walked in and found an old staircase that we had to climb dragging suitcases. The hallway on the second floor leading to our room was very uneven and shabby looking. If the expectation was a no frills motel setting then the room was okay, but when we booked it we thought we were going to a luxury hotel. Lees meer

From the moment of arrival at the Harbor View everything was perfect. The hotel was at once relaxing, elegant, comfy--The staff was truly welcoming and accommodating. The location, a short walk from town, was just close enough to everything in Edgartown, including the simple mass transit bus system, but also just far enough from the post high season […] slimming throngs. A lovely hotel in a lovely setting overlooking the Edgartown lighthouse. The plus or minus, depending on your view, is that the hotel is about a 10 minute walk from "downtown" Edgartown.

We had never been to MV before and chose the Habor View because we got a great deal on Hotels.com. It turned out to be a nice hotel, very good service, and perfectly nice if slightly dated room. This is a beautiful hotel with spacious rooms and many amenities. The service staff was outstanding...very polite, knowledgeable, and helpful. The food was excellent and priced reasonably. I would recommend this hotel to all. Probably best on Martha's Vineyard!

I loved the location of this resort. I have stayed at other properties that are so secluded from the surrounding area that you don't get to experience anything but the resort. This is a full service resort a few minutes walk from downtown Edgartown. Though the hotel restaurants were a bit pricey you do not feel compelled to dine on the property due […] to convenience. There are numerous restaurants, delis and casual eats within walking distance. I've stayed at other resorts such as the Wequasett Inn in Chatham and this property is worth the ferry ride. Fabulous hotel. Clean, quaint and staff is friendly and accomodating. Our room was spacious and comfortable. The view of the water is fantastic. Short walk to shops and restraunts. We hope to come back soon.

This is a first class hotel. Our room was in the main building. It was a small room but very nicely appointed. The location and view of the ocean is "picture postcard." The hotel restaurant food and service were excellent. The resort also offers rooms in cottages separate from the main building. Hotel staff is excellent and they do an excellent job to make sure your stay is top notch. Front porch has an amazing view and sitting there for a drink in the afternoon was great. Our room was very comfortable but the location was just okay. We had a slight vibration inside the room which when I asked if there was anything above us I was told no. This […] was by the "hotel engineer" who must not have seen the two very large rooftop fans for the kitchen exhaust that were directly above our room that at times caused the bed and floor to actually vibrate. I called the front desk asking about this and they had "never heard such a complaint" which I find impossible to believe. Room also was directly above the service entrance and it was a bit noisy at times. Room is 321 so I would return back to this hotel for sure but would not want this exact room or location. We did book late (about 6 weeks before) so this may have been the last room or so available but it is a pricey room and for the amount paid I would have prefered a room in a different part of the hotel. We just spent a couple of days at the Harbor View and it was amazing. This staff totally understands what customer service is all about. Our room was pretty and immaculate. The setting is just amazing. It was probably the best hotel experience we've ever had on our travels all over the USA and abroad.

We love the the hotel! Great service, we felt right at home. Excellent location, Edger-town is amazing I would love to live there. We will definitely be back, hopefully this fall and we will make this a yearly/bi-yearly vacation from Canada only 7 hours. Well Worth the drive!!!

Overall, an excellent stay, despite the rainy weather. Comfortable, clean, beautiful view, exceeding our expectations. We found it humorous, however since we're celebrating our 45th anniversary, to find a crib in our room! Also a dirty drinking glass on the porch. i guess they were in a hurry and missed it- even though our room was ready early?! Now […] that I think of it, the bottle of $40 white wine we ordered at Henry's was unchilled and we were each served a half lobster roll instead of the whole we each ordered.
