Right on the Venice Walk. Not a kid friendly place as the rooms are small and the walk is not somewhere you want to take small children. The owner/management is awesome and always accommodating. What a charning place to stay! Loved the exposed brick walls in the room & the old-school, gate-style elevator. The mattress could have been a little more comfortable, but the romantic, cool, & hip feel of the hotel & location more than made up for it! We only stayed one night & we wished we had longer to stay! Until next time......

This hotel was quaint, with an amazing location! The room was clean and a good size. I would recommend this to friends and family. Hummm... I've traveled extensively in my life. I expected minimum North American standards for a Marriott rate. Alas, this one had no hot water. No fun when you need to shower-up. Don't recommend.

There's a medical pot house next door, so you can image the clash of life you'll get in this hotbed establishment. It's like a rundown studio where you're clearly paying for the gorgeous location five paces from the sandy beach. It's not exactly safe at night, parking is 300-feet away (unless you're one of the lucky people to find free street parking), […] the elevator is from the 1920s and the room is ice cold at night in the spring. No worries. You're given a space heater! There are other places ontop of the water, but not at that price. Parking was free in the surrounding area, the location allowed very convenient access to local restaurants. Fantastic location. Spacious rooms with a very cool kitchenette. Cleaner than some of the other hotels I've stayed in. Very enjoyable.

The hotel was clean and the staff was very helpful and friendly. However it is more for the party crowd. Hard to get any sleep at night due to loud guests and thin walls.

If your looking for Valet, Room, Spa Service, your looking at the wrong hotel. If you are looking for Simple, Friendly, Family owned near the beach, then this is your hotel. This place is located right on the walk. There are a lot of homeless in the area day and night. This is Venice Beach after all! We have stayed at this hotel several times and NEVER had a problem with the surrounding area. This building is very old, but has everything in a room that one needs to enjoy their stay; beds can be a bit uncomfortable. The staff is awesome, incredibly friendly and knows us by name when we stay. The rooms are always clean. Would not recommend this hotel to families with small children as Venice Beach is not exactly a kid friendly place. Walk out the door onto the walk with skaters, medical marijuana clinics, and all the wonderful wackiness of Venice Beach. Parking for a fee a block from the hotel. Never will find street parking, don't even try. Kitchen in every room with stovetop, microwave, mini fridge, sink, and all utensils needed. Filthy room

Awesome location in the midst of chaos and rigt on the Boardwalk/beach - true experience. Staff very helpful on area attractions, shopping & restaurants. Only recommendation is to change bedding, otherwise cute & efficient. Have already recommended to others.-

try to arrive during daylight, boardwalk bums can be a turn off for some, clean wood floors in the room, great staying right on the beach, very friendly and helpful staff, bed was insanely uncomfortable

Close to the sand and all the quirky amenities that Venice has to offer but certainly not a very clean hotel. The staff accommodated our request to change rooms as the original room reserved was in NO condition to sleep in.. floors were dirty and the window did not lock. Venice is unique. So be ready for that. If you want an ocean view make sure to request a room on the from o the building. Room 401 where I stayed had an amazing view! Big props to the staff. Matthew was awesome and helped me in every way possible. Can't imagine a better place to stay on the Venice boardwalk.

Would highly welcomed it to any one looking to be situated in the heart of Venice beach- excellent boutique feel about the room and suited the area perfectly - great stay ! Thanks guys

Great Hotel! Matt at the front desk was very friendly and helpful . The only negative was the lack of water pressure in shower.

When you stay right on the beach in Venice, you must bear in mind that you will get the full eclectic, funky, fringe experience...which I love! The staff were very accommodating and friendly. Our room had many windows which overlooked the boardwalk. Overall a very good experience!

The location of this place is great if you want something different. Walk out the door onto the boardwalk with skaters, medical marijuana clinics, and all the wonderful wackiness of Venice Beach. Or cross over the boardwalk to the beautiful beach. The service is just adequate and the rooms are functional but not great. Extremely friendly and helpful staff, all with a good sense of humor. Right on the beachfront with plenty of dining options on the doorstep and public transport near by. Vibrant neighborhood in the daytime, but, a bit scary after dark as a number of homeless shelter in front of neighboring shops for the night. Great for being so close to the beach and having the board walk just out the front door, food and vendors- AWESOME! Parking was street and very hard to find on a saturday. DO NOT TAKE A TRUCK, the parking lot that is associated will not take them small or Large. If you have a small car it works best and parking will be much easier. My wife and I found this hotel on hotels.com while searching for anything close to UCLA while picking up our student for the Summer. The location was convenient. The manager was great and recommended some great restaurants nearby, like James Beach and the Canal. I kind of like the edginess around Venice. My wife found it a little haphazard and on the […] dirty side, but hey, that's the beach. The room was cute and efficient. Only real complaint is a little noisy with the comings and goings of guests, and parking a little inconvenient. Bottom line; I'd recommend to a friend with a little explanation. Thanks for the stay. Wonderful hotel that had everything we needed. Wonderful old school charm and history, very friendly and knowledgeable staff, centrally located and right on the beach with beautiful views of the boardwalk from our windows. And a kitchen! My critique would be that it would be better if the room as a whole was cleaner. And they could have better bath […] products and updated TVs. The price per night justifies that these things should be good quality. But, being that we were there for fun and to experience the beach and the gritty, eccentric nature of the boardwalk, those things can be easily overlooked. We had so much fun staying at this hotel. Cool older hotel with a front row seat at the circus. The staff was friendly, the place was clean, and you can't beat the value.

Overall this stay was awesome except for the brat that kept throwing tantrums and pushing the chair around on the wood floor in the room above us. WOW! This was an experience. For the LOCATION of the hotel it was PERFECT. The condition of the hotel wasn't like staying at the Hilton by far. It is an old building. The elevator must of been the original one when the building was built! You had to manually open the door and a gate. And you had to make sure when you got off that you closed the door […] and gate or no one else could call it from another floor. It was pretty cool though. The rooms were like a studio apartment. It had a kitchen with fridge, microwave, 2-burner gas stove, & sink. They also provided you with all the dishes, pots, silverware, cups, paper towels, sponge, dish soap, etc. VERY CONVENIENT if you plan on being there for at least a week. It had an old ball and claw tub, with shower, but the shower curtain was a little bit scary. It is an older hotel; you could tell by how the paint on the walls was chipping, etc. All in all, I would stay there again just because of the location & the price. The hotel manager was EXTREMELY helpful with directions to grocery stores and where we can or cannot park. They have beach chairs, rice mats, swim boards, and beach toys for the guests to check out for free. The hotel is great for location. When you walk out the front door of the hotel you walk out onto Venice Beach where all the shops, vendors and restaurants are. We could actually look out our room window for a great view of the ocean and everything going on on the promenade. When it gets dark everything closes down. The neighborhood is a bit scary, but for the price and the location it was perfect. Like I said if you like the Hilton you probably don't want this hotel. But if you want good rates with ALL the amenities and good location, this is the right place to stay. I would DEFINITELY stay here again :) Lees meer

The main selling point here is that it is right on the beach. I mean unless you pitched a tent in the sand you couldn't get any closer. Plus it's probably the cheapest hotel you'll find that close. I booked through hotels.com so I didn't actually talk to the staff until the day we were going to check in and found out their office closes at 9 pm and […] opens at 9 am so I had to get the key from a lock box. It wasn't ideal but still not difficult. Also without the email that was sent after talking to them I would have NEVER found it. The address online is not the address to put in your GPS. Getting there late at night and being tired made for a bit of confusion trying to find it. I was pretty frustrated by the time I got there but once I saw it, it seemed easy. haha That is probably the only real negative. It's just a simple hotel, nothing super fancy but if your main goal is to stay on the beach then this is the place to be. If you want luxury it might not be your choice. It was so nice to get up the next morning and walk out the door onto the sidewalk and stroll along the beach. We had breakfast at a wonderful place a few doors down. I felt pretty safe although I probably wouldn't have walked around at night alone. There were a few shops and restaurants so if you didn't want to go far you would be fine. Becafeful when choosing this Hotel. If you like hard park benches the beds are great. The hot water was out so if you like cold showers its a great place to stay. If you like getting out of bed to turn the TV on and off its great but I choose to do it with remote control.

Just recently went down here with my boyfriend because he was dying to go to Venice Beach so I gave him a little extra treat and got us a hotel right on the beach! The location is unbeatable. You're right on the boardwalk and literally a few steps from the beach! The day time activities are endless, but it gets a bit shady at night. I was a little scared […] to leave the hotel once it started getting dark. The hotel managers were GREAT and amazingly helpful. They had beach stuff in the main office that guests could borrow for free. The rooms were nice and quaint. The bathroom was a bit too small for two people and we had some trouble with our shower. Also, the walls were pretty thin so we could hear what was going on in the hall and the room next door, and I'm sure they could hear us too. The sheets didn't look very clean, but we had them changed. Overall, pretty great hotel aside from a few minor problems. I'd stay there again. Lees meer

THis is a total venice beach experience..what the hotel lacks in updates is made up by staff and lcation. Its small. Chill and old school venice

This hotel is very old and neglected. The one elevator is an antique with two sliding doors that you have to open that don't work very well. The room has no heat or air and the temperature was 40 outside the night we stayed. We were on the fourth floor and it took 10 minutes for the water to get hot in the old clawfoot bathtub which had a shower curtain […] around it on a rickety old frame. The bathroom was so small that I could not bend over the tiny sink without tripping over the toilet. There is no parking and a paid lot is $15 for the night and is 3 blocks away. Parking at night and walking back to the hotel is of concern in this neighborhood. The police arrested 2 different people that we saw while driving to the parking lot. Lees meer

This hotel was very nice and comfy and the fact that i was upgraded to the complete ocean view for free was way awesome. It's near all the attraction of venice beach no parking so take an extra $20 or more just for parking in a lot.

Had a great stay , Quiet evenings , Fun Beach Days, If I could change one thing I would want a more attractive roof to look at next door !

This was a wonderful hotel to stay out. Right on the beach. You could not ask for more. People were friendly and we enjoyed riding in the 70 year old elevator. We would go again and probably will in the next couple of months

The hotel is literally on the boardwalk! Overlooking the famous Venice Beach. You could not be any closer without getting wet!! It is located right in the heart of Venice Beach. Street performers and stallholders perform outside your window. This however is not obtrusive as it only takes place during "office hours". We were just yards from the famous […] "Muscle beach" and Bodybuilding "Pen"! We could see all the action from our window. "Speedway" runs the length of the beach giving vehicular access to the rear of the hotel. There was no long stay parking on site but parking on the streets nearby was convenient and free, with very helpful advice and a map provided by the hotel staff. The hotel is old and not what you may be used to if you stay regularly at large upmarket places. However we had just been on a 5 star cruise and stayed for 4 days at a very upmarket Vegas Suite and in comparison the Venice Beach Hotel was perfectly satisfactory! It was clean and offered everything that we needed. The rooms were spacious and offered "efficiencies" (fully equiped kitchen). They were in fact mini suites or "condos". The bedroom was spacious with a comfortable bed, good lighting and effective window blinds as well as plenty of closet (wardrobe) storage space and furniture. There was a ceiling fan and tv with dvd player and free local call telephone. Also complimentary (100% free wi-fi Internet access). The kitchen had microwave, fridge, cooker, etc and a dining table. The bathroom was spacious. Staff were very helpful and courteous, helping to plan days out and offering us maps etc. Venice is a wonderful place to spend a vacation but it is also ideally located for all of LA! Just minutes from LAX airport and easy to find if you are driving. Very close to Santa Monica and handy for Hollywood and downtown. It is safe and relatively inexpensive. This hotel is in a perfect location and looks straight onto the beach. The staff were extremely helpful and when we checked out we were given great advice on what to see on our drive up to San Francisco. We had an ocean view room but were only there for one night. It wasn't worth it since it cost about quite a bit more and we could only just see the […] sea from a side window - it wasn't the sweeping view I'd pictured. Since we were there for such a short length of time we didn't actually spend much time in the room - we were on the beach the whole time. The room itself was very clean and really nicely decorated. We didn't use the kitchenette but it looked lovely. There was quite a lot of noise from the street but this didn't carry on too long and since it's such a great location it's to be expected as Venice beach is quite a bustling place to be. Overall brilliant place to say but not worth it for the sea view I didn't think. Also be aware there is free parking but only in the side streets - the hotel itself doesn't actually have free parking and the one way streets make it all quite difficult to find. Lees meer

Unsure as you are when you book at an unknown location, this hotel is an amazing find. Not only is the location unparalleled being right on the Venice beach boardwalk, but the staff bend over backwards to accommodate you and offer assistance. It is a family owned and run business and this shows in the pride they have both in the hotel and the way you […] are treated. The hotel itself is nicely renovated and extremely comfortable. Car parking is not available directly at the hotel, but again the staff are only to eager to help arrange very close cheap parking, or to assist with ample on street locations. I will definitely stay here next time I am in the LA area Lees meer

The hotel is located right on the boardwalk and is in the middle of everything. The staff were so helpful with everything from identifying good restaurants to showing which streets don't have meters (i.e. free parking). I was on a vacation with my little brother, with the goal of exposing him to culture before he goes to college. This was a great, comfortable […] place for him to see many things that aren't prevalent in SmallTown, Indiana in a way that is fun and safe. I wouldn't have felt too comfortable having smaller children there. Right next to the hotel is a medical marijuana spot and right next to that is Botox on the Beach.place. Also, we didn't feel comfortable being out late at night, The area is saturated with art. The rooms in the hotel have so much character, from the brick wall to an actual bathtub. I highly recommend this place for people who want to have fun, be in the crowd, and enjoy the beach. Lees meer
