This University of Virginia hotel provided a pleasant stay a short walk from the historic centre of Virginia University campus. Very nice staff - good breakfast and nice rooms. Bit dated and bed was a bit soft - but I would heartily recommend this hotel.

It's absolutely not the Ritz, but as cheap as it is, it is a great deal.

Very good value and comfort. Well located for access to UVA medical center.

A/C was making a loud noise that they jerry-rigged no to continue to do so. Room was a little disorganized when I got there (towels all over the place), no breakfast. Not sure why tripadvisor folks are rating this hotel so highly.

We arrived around midnight and when we got into our room exhausted and pulled back the bed sheets there was a HUGE yellow stain on the sheets. The front desk (after 20 rings) finally sent someone up with new sheets except they turned out to be for a double bed! 20 more rings to the front desk and we finally got new sheets and fell into bed exhausted […] for an appt. on campus the next morning. Had we not been time crunched, we would have found other accomodations. It was dirty and the hotel staff could care less when we rang the front desk. Lees meer

At 4 am, a loud noise awoke me-coming from the air vent and I contacted the person on duty and was looked at like I was from another planet. Obviously, the manager wasn't there and no one cared about how loud it was, or that it was extremely hot in my room. Other than that... great location and pricing.

We were very pleasantly surprised with the Cavalier Inn. Although an older hotel, the hotel and room were very clean and comfortable and we couldn't ask for a better location. We were there for a college visit. The hotel allowed us to leave our vehicle there for the day, even though we checked out that morning and we were able to easily walk to the […] college for the tour. Lees meer

Most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in. In spite of good location relative to the University, I would not stay here again.

Good rates, friendly staff, nice lobby. Breakfast okay, but not as elaborate as pictured on website. Short walk to free town/campus trolley. Our room had a torn carpet, but was okay. We would stay again for the reasonable rates.

Its close to the UVA campus and it gets the job done, but the service is slow and ho-hum for check in process and the rooms, while updated, are not luxury (nor was I expecting such). Overall, it was a useful placy to stay at a decent price to see Charlottesville.

We have stayed at the Cavalier Inn before - but it was perfect for Easter weekend. Room was not ready early but we thought we would take our chances. The rooms look to have been updated and the beds were comfortable. The lobby area was bright and cheery and the breakfast was good. My husband and I stayed with our college aged boys that eat a LOT - so […] the price for the room and breakfast was very reasonable and so close to UVA where their sister is in school. They were very accomodating and let us check out an hour late as we weren't sure how long the church service would be on Easter and we needed that time so I was glad I asked. I was aware that this hotel was a bit older, which I don't have a problem with. The problem is that our room, which was fairly tastefully redecorated was almost 90 degrees, and we couldn't adjust the thermostat. We called the front desk, and no one answered. Convenience/location is the main reason to stay at this motel. It is basically on the UVA campus. Otherwise, there are probably better choices. This property shows its age in the overall condition of the rooms. The room we stayed in - the door to the outside had gaps due to lack of weatherstripping, the beds were uncomfortable, the shower water temperature […] fluctuated greatly even thought he lever did not move. This an older hotel but the room we stayed in was updated in really nice dark blue decor very modern. Bed was comfortable, the pillow soft with plenty. They air conditioner was loud though something going on with it but on low fan setting was quiet enough. This is smack right by UVA and close to downtown area. We came for Monticello and its pretty close […] to that as well. I would stay again. One note do not be fooled by pictures of the breakfast. It was a big let down. Mini muffins, bread to toast, mini box cereal and sugar loaded mini yogurts. And one waffle grill that you have to wait to use since there is only one. The hotel itself is nothing special (comfortable beds, but smallish rooms), but the location was great for our visit to UVA. Breakfast was adequate (yogurt & some fruits).

Once we finally found this hotel (our GPS did not recognize the name or address) we were very pleased with the proximity to the Arena. Our 4th floor room was clean and comfortable. We stayed St. Patrick's evening & were VERY pleasantly surprised with how quiet the room was - not what we expected for a college town hotel! When Hotels.com listed this Inn which is right on the campus of the University of Virginia, I lept at the opportunity and was very much delighted. We were guaranteed a refrigerator, microwave and and two double beds. When it turned out there was no microwave in our room, staff had one installed witin ten minutes. We were able to tour the beautiful University […] of Virginia on a beautiful evening. We had visited Monticello on a previous visit but hadn't been able to get to the university. Both are well worth visiting, and this Hotel is also conveniently located for a visit to Monticello. Lees meer

Room was too hot with no means of cooling or external ventilation. Not suitable for couples. Students and Backpackers will find this hotel OK. The breakfasts took me back to my school days with polystyrene plates and plastic cutlery !!!

Noisy and old hotel.Employees were great

I have stayed at this hotel before, but not for several years. It is convenient to the UVA campus and overall, a decent place to stay. However, when I got into my room it was 81 degrees and the heat was blasting. I was able to turn it off but could not turn on the AC to cool the room down. I had a pleasant stay at the Cavalier Inn. I stayed after a minor surgery at UVA Medical and it was very convient to the hospital. The staff was very helpful and the room was very clean and comfortable. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Can't get much better if going to University events, or visit. Great room, newer appliances, all worked great. Bedding was clean, bed was comfortable and pillows were plentiful. Breakfast was adequate, no fresh fruit...cheesy to find plastic fruit in containers... I reached for one...and 2 juices were OUT of order-- need a NEW WAFFLE MAKER & ADD another […] one for the amount of people. ALL IN ALL, I recommend to anyone. Staff was courteous & helpful. There was a very strong odor in the hallway on the 3rd floor. Seemed to be masking some other smell but it was very strong and not very pleasant. Breakfast was very good although there was no fresh fruit the morning of our stay.

It was a very simple plain breakfast, and the second day no spoons for cereal, told by women to use a fork, started remove things as we were serving and no fruit, or juice...Picture showed chaffers with food.. Shower did not come on all the way and called office but no one came to fix it.

The rooms, even with heating were freezing. The refrigerator made a buzzing noise, the heating unit whirred loudly when working. Really not good. Only plus is the location and price.

This was one of the best hotels I have stayed in for a long time. Clean, peaceful, excellently located to the University, shopping eating and anything else you would need. The breakfast food was great and overall just a peaceful lovely place to stay. It appeared to have been recently updated and everying was clean and tastefully decorated.
