A budget hotel that offers excellent value for money. A former Post House hotel that needs some updating - but it's clean and generally in a good state of repair. Right next to the motorway, and plenty of parking. Shops or restaurants would be a car drive, as there's nothing walkable from the hotel. Very helpful, friendly and attentive staff. To get here you definately need a satnav especially in the night. the staff are very friendly and helpful. the room was bigger than expected for the price although there was a small damp patch on the wall. the shower was temperamental but with patience was ok. the tv is still on analogue not digital. the wifi only works in some parts of the hotel (not […] in my room). Food prices are reasonable and still served after hours. the pool is a nice temperature and reasonable size. I would stay here again. Lees meer

Stayed on way to Edinburgh from Suffolk to break up the journey. Paid less than advertised rates for a family sized room. Extra blankets and pillows in cupboard which I always appreciate. Doesn't have fancy TV but it is the type of hotel you stay at as it is conveniently off the A1, rather than being your ultimate location, although they do have a […] gym and spa and do weddings. Breakfast was vastly expensive in my opinion but I rarely pay for breakfast in hotels as they are usually where hotels make their profits. But it was a short drive to Harrogate where we had breakfast at Fodders,a lovely independent food shop which was a nice discovery. Staff were friendly and we all slept well. Tons of parking too. Hotel was basic but comfortable and suited my needs perfectly but would need an upgrade fairly soon to bring it up to current standards.

After trying for four hours to use the free wi fi I was eventually told there was a problem that needed an engineer to sort out. As they did not work week ends there would be no internet available. Dissapointed that hotel staff left me to sort out with the supplying company ! This was one of the reasons we selected this hotel in the first place. We found this hotel excellent value for money. The staff were friendly and eager to help and we would certainly stay again. It is well placed for York, the only drawback being that for us it was on the wrong side of the dual carriageway with no obvious means of entrance in the dark.

Our stay was very comfortable. Staff were friendly yet very efficient. The hotel was centrally situated for exploring York and Leeds as well as many other Yorkshire attractions.

Having read other reviews of this hotel we were prepared to have to go elsewhere. We were, however, very pleasantly surprised. Our room was on the same floor as Reception and was spotlessly clean and comfortable. The bathroom had clearly been recently refitted and was most acceptable. We did not eat in but had a look at the large party eating in the […] Dining room who all appeared to be enjoying what looked and smelt delicious. The following morning I went for a swim in the very large pool. It was warm and for most of the time I had the whole pool to myself. The surroundings were quiet, the motorway being now some distance away but accessible within minutes for our ongoing journey. We spent our return overnight stay at an Ibis Hotel which did not match this one for either price or value for money or comfort or a quiet night. We would definitely stay here again. Lees meer

This is a very reasonably priced hotel ideal for visiting York or Harrogate. Facilities very good has a pool and fitness gym. Good restaurant (prices a little high) but we had a lovely steak and great service.

I checked in and checked out within an hour. Dirty room, mould in the shower, flaking walls, stained lampshades, didnet check the bedding. So called fitness suite was a joke with dodgy equipment and the final straw was the offensive overflowing mens urinals in the communal toilets. Avoid this place.

Approaching the hotel you see the sign looking well past its best and fear the worst, they could really do with giving it a refresh. The front of the building has been tidied recently and eases any fears. Booked the hotel for a single night to avoid having an 8+ hour drive and as such only used the hotel as somewhere to sleep and eat, so cannot comment […] on pool, etc. For this the hotel was fine. The room was large and clean though the appliances and bathroom suggested you had stepped a few years back in time. Everything worked well enough and was comfortable. The walls could do with either being thicker or having more sound proofing so you do not have to listen to people in neighbouring rooms. Unfortunately the hotel had been over booked so while those of us who turned up early had rooms the same could not necessarily be said of those who did not pay in advance. The staff were good and lifted what would otherwise be a distinctly average hotel. If you go expecting a new luxurious hotel you will be disappointed, but if you are looking for somewhere relatively cheap with friendly staff and clean rooms you could do a lot worse. Lees meer
