The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a great location. The beds were uncomfortable, the shower curtain had mold, and it was extremely noisy at night.

Great little hotel with basic amenities. Very quaint, clean room. It was small but you don't stay in your room much in NYC anyway. The only warning is that the street noise can be pretty loud...luckily since it is summertime the window ac unit was on full blast so it drowned most of it out. Friendly staff. Clean room and shared bathroom. The AC worked GREAT on an extremely hot day! I will absolutely stay here again when visiting NYC. For the price you can't go wrong.

You have to know this is a nice place to stay if I'm this enthusiastic about a 5th-floor walk-up with shared bath. The bed is kind of small but the room and closet are a good size for a New York hotel. It would be hard to find a better deal in Manhattan. Location was perfect for a convention I attended in area. The bedding smelled vert bad, as though not washed on months. Bed was very uncomfortable. Room and bath were clean.

Loved how friendly the staff was. They really do their best to make you feel comfortable. The place is kept clean. My only dislike was, how noisy it can be outside! They do provide you with ear plugs. This is my second stay there. The first time, I didn't use the ear plugs. This time around I did and it made quite a difference. The rooms are clean, the location is nice. Overall I enjoyed my stay and felt pretty comfortable. The only complain would be the noise coming in from the street at night. It was a little annoying.

I called the hotel and they said I would get a room with two beds. When I checked in I was given a room with one bed, but they brought a roll-away (which barely fit in the small room). There were blood stains and hair on the pillow in the closet (and I documented that with pictures) to be used for the roll-away. There were also stains on the sheets […] that they brought for us to use on the roll-away. I also found stains on the bottom side of a pillow on the bed. I slept on top of the sheets in the bed, but I felt dirty even doing that. We checked in and then went out to tour NYC. When we returned to the room around midnight, we found that our semi-private bathroom (shared with another room) was out of toilet paper. There were no additional rolls of toilet paper in the bathroom or our room, and no one was on duty at the front desk. We had to wait until 9:00 a.m. to get toilet paper. That is unacceptable. If no one is going to be on duty at the front desk, it is their job to have extra toilet paper in the bathroom or closet. Once we finally tried to get to sleep, that was difficult because we could clearly hear horns honking and glass breaking outside because the windows were very poor and let in a lot of noise. The hallways had a dirty smell to them, but the rooms were ok. The continental breakfast was a joke as well. I thought I was getting a good deal for the money, but it turned out to be a nightmare. I was on the phone with Hotels.com at 12:30 a.m. and then again after 9:00 a.m. (when the front desk had someone on duty) and Hotels.com were able to work with me to get a refund for the second night. The lady at the front desk on Saturday was not able to waive the cancellation fee, but she said her manager could decide that on Monday. I politely reminded the lady that she has to have someone she can call to make a decision on a Saturday, so she ended up calling her boss at home and the boss approved waiving the cancellation fee and giving me a refund for the seco Lees meer

If you are looking for a clean place to lay your tired head after a day in NYC without paying a fortune then the Chelsea Inn is for you. If you are looking for the NY glam experience then stay away from the Chelsea Inn. There are some rooms with private baths and some with semiprivate baths (shared by two rooms in a hall accessible to ONLY those two […] rooms). Be prepared as there is not an elevator but you've been walking all day so what's a few more steps to a good night's sleep? This Inn is quirky and cool - the building was built around 1890 and has been mildly updated over the years. All of the original moldings are there and as are the original staircases - they lean a little which is to be expected from a building of this age. Good and solid without and squeeks and in the stairs or floors. Of course, I like architecture and older buildings so I find this stuff interesting and fun. As for those who complained about the bar next door making too much noise if you are on the front of the building - it's no worse than any other hotel room I've had in NYC that I paid at least twice this amount for. This is NYC - the city that doesn't sleep so there's always somebody making noise in the streets partying or working (restaurants and retailers stock up in the late and early hours). If you're looking for a high-style NYC hotel with white gloves then stay on 5th Ave near Central Park. If you're looking for the NYC experience with rooms that are like most NYC apts I've been to then stay at the Chelsea. Lees meer

As long as you're OK with a basic hotel room, Chelsea Inn is a great deal for the money. The neighborhood is great and trains are convenient.

Da vi bookede hotellet, var vi lidt spændte på at skulle dele toilet/bad med et andet værelse, men det fungerede overraskende godt! Beliggenheden var super, tæt på både subway og shopping. Rigtig søde hotel-ansatte, og morgenmaden henter man lige nedenunder og bestemmer selv hvad man vil have. Kan helt klart anbefales!

L'hotel est tres bien situe dans Manhattan mais il presente un inconvenient majeur au niveau des chambres donnant sur la 17eme rue qui est extremement bruyante toute la nuit jusqu'au matin (clients d'un bar club qui fument a l'exterieur et braillent toute la nuit! voitures et camions qui klaxonnent en pleine nuit!). Dans ma chambre (2eme etage) je me […] croyais dans la rue car la fenetre n'avait pas de double vitrage et la vitre etait plutot mince}. Je ne me suis pas plaint mais d'autres clients ont du se plaindre car le 3eme jour, le personnel a depose des boules quies dans ma chambre! De plus, ma chambre non fumeur puait (melange tabac/humidite) et le matelas etait tres mou. En conclusion, le Chelsea Inn est le plus bruyant des dix hotels bon marche de Manhattan que j'ai eu l'occasion d'utiliser au cours des 20 dernieres annees. Lees meer

People at the front desk doing the very minimum to welcome you in a nice way. Be aware that you can be on the 5th floor (with a very step stair) without any lift, which makes it extremely difficult to carry up your heavy luggage. The room was crapy, many stuff were out of order, which meant that in between two guests, nothing had been duly checked. During […] the all stay, my window was blocked opened with a piece of wood... They should really invest a very minimum in some refreshing up the room by just painting them properly and making sure that everything is in order. Virkelig en overraskelse. Vi var lidt nervøse over den 1 stjerne, og jo hotellet var slidt og ja, der er dele toilet. Til gengæld fik vi rigtig fin service fra personalet, et pænt og rent værelse med tv, morgenmad bestående af en bagel, et stk frugt ell juice, kaffe ell te + MEGET central beliggenhed. Og jeg ved, at mange har klaget over larm fra nærliggende […] diskotek - vi boede der i 8 nætter og hørte ingenting på noget tidspunkt. Dele toilet/bad er ok. Det er kun med et andet værelse, og rengøringen gør det rent hver dag. Vi stod aldrig i kø eller måtte vente på toilettet. Vi var virkelig glade for at kunne bruge vores penge i NY på shopping, mad og oplevelser fremfor et fancy hotel. Vi fik en rigtig god deal i højsæsonen og synes det var det værd!! Forvent ikke meget, men pænt, rent og sikkert kvarter og perfekt at kunne gå til alt. Lees meer

Fint hotel til prisen - dog meget larm fra gaden og barene i stueetagen i naboejendommen og på den anden side af gaden. Man skal absolut ikke forvente luksus, men hvis man bare skal bruge et sted at sove, er hotellet fint nok - især når man tager prisen i betragtning.

Cleanliness is ok except the bedbugs.. Airconditioning didn't work according to the staff. New TV sets installed but most channels had an annoying flicker. This is not a cosy, romantic getaway hotel, just barely tolerable by budget travellers. I usually stay in hostels but thought I would pay a bit extra this time and stay in a hotel.
