First of all, the people we met in Boston were terrific, kind and helpful. Love the MBTA, the close proximity of the Hynes station to the Guest House and the ease of walking to and from the various T stops to all parts of the city. otherwise, just ok. the whole place was a little dingy. service was friendly when we arrived, but disappeared from the front desk for a half hour mid day. also, our bed was not a queen as advertised. still, relatively inexpensive and close to Fenway.

Motel 6 I'd a luxury hotel compared to this place. Never ever did I stsy in a hotel a little b bit bigger than the bed with no private bath. ONLY good points are the location and satisfactory clesnliness

Other than some of the other more noisier guests, it was a great stay. Quaint and cozy. I thought it was odd that there was a dorm style one-floor bathroom, but quickly got over it. Perfect for Con season.

My partner and I were looking for a no-nonsense place to get a quiet night's sleep in the city before meeting up with friends the next day, and we took a chance on Oasis. Although the location is fantastic, and the place was well-kept, it still is much more of an excellent hostel than a hotel by any stretch, while it is priced much more like the latter. […] Our room was quite small for a queen, and there was no escaping the sounds of the other patrons in their rooms and in the hallways. We regretted not paying the little bit more it would have cost to get a queen room at the Sheraton, for the peace and privacy it would have offered. right by boylston street and back bay station, this hotel fit my needs perfectly. the room itself was small, but comfortable, well maintained and the bed had a memory foam top to it so very nice. the included breakfast was a bit lackluster but filling and had all the staples (cereals, fruit, breads, bagels). the wifi was alright, but had a bit of trouble […] streaming a 360p video (had to let it buffer). the hotel had a computer with printer for guest use, this was a life saver for me since i had forgotten to print out the ticket for an event i was going to. I'd stay here again. Inexpensive. Perfectly clean linens. Bathroom was spotless (it's a shared affair). Good location for Back Bay - Newbury shopping and a good walk through the Boston Commons... Computer and wi-fi available.

Nice affordable option for a conference I was attending at Hynes Convention Center. Free wireless internet worked very well, appreciated the homey breakfast area and felt very comfortable in the room, with a pleasant treetop view. Cons - shower was extremely small (and I am a small person). Could hear other guests coming and going - I slept well anyway […] but if you are sensitive to noise this might not be the place for you. Trouble checking in b/c someone had keyed in incorrect dates.Absolutely no method of ensuring quiet within hotel (could hear every door close, reception conversation, continental breakfast prep, etc. as well as street noise). The Oasis Guest House is a lovely alternative (more affordable as well) to crowded and noisy chain hotels. It was very relaxing and quiet - nice to get away from a conference and sneak off to my own oasis! A good thing was they were nice and let us use their parking space after we left the hotel, but when we arrived later at night we had to park in the back in a dark alley. It was just my daughter and I so I didn't appreciate this. Hotel.com could have told us ahead of time that it was not very family friendly. When we arrived one man came and peeked […] his head out to seem to look and see who we were and he looked kind of like maybe he lived there too but didn't look very healthy. I was concerned who exactly stays there bc we didn't see any other people? I didn't smell chlorox or any type of detergent smell on the sheets or towels etc. and felt uncomfortable laying on the bed. We didn't see one lady there, We didn't take a shower or stay to eat breakfast. The first guy kind of seemed like I was imposing on him but the second guy at the desk was friendlier. I didn't appreciate bringing my young daughter into an atmosphere like this and would not return. Our friends up the street stayed at a place that was full , but was not that much more in price but family friendly and nice. It may have been known in the surrounding area that not too many people stay there or just a select group but because we came from far away, I didn't know this fact and would have appreciated Hotel.com giving us an idea so will most likely book in the future through some one else.. I was in town for a conference at a hotel down the street from the hotel. This place was small, but comfortable and clean. The staff was great. It was within quick walking distance of the T (subway) and everything else in Back Bay. It's a great place to stay (especially for the price), and this is one of the non-chain hotels you can trust.

I saved almost half off the cost of a conference room and it was only three blocks away. Plenty of restaurants and food stores nearby. I needed a reasonably priced no-frills room for a last minute business trip. I normally stay in 3.5 - 4 star hotels so I was concerned about the booking. The location is such that one can walk or take public transportation to several colleges in Boston. Boston Commons is just a 25 minute leisurely walk away and the staff is really helpful and good about giving directions. I would go back to this hotel any time.

Simple and clean place on a quiet residential street. Small room and bathroom, but sufficient. Friendly and helpful staff. Simple breakfast. A bit overpriced for what you get. Limited and very small parking spaces, but convenient.

I have absolutely no qualms about my stay. It is very quaint with an extremely respectable staff. However if sharing bathrooms is not your thing, one should avoid this spot. Though I never had an issue with at all.

I chose this place for the price and its location convenient to where I had to be. It is in a small brownstone on a side street off of Mass. Ave, which at least meant there was little traffic noise. The room was hot and stuffy and had no temperature control, so I had to leave the window open all night. On the plus side: they do provide free wi-fi and breakfast (bagels, juice etc.) If you are on a budget and not very picky, this place will do. This can be an attractive option if you're in town to explore the city and don't put much importance in the room. While you do get a decent bed and the service is very responsive, none of the rooms come with an ironing board, the television service does not include sports channels (which are my favorite way to unwind late at night) and the heating and […] cooling situation is inconsistent. I was awoken in the middle of the night by high temps (85-90 degrees) in my room because the blown air furnace dumped directly into my room with no intake. I called to have them turn it down, which they did, though I had to keep my window open the rest of the night to allow the heat to dissipate. When I spoke to another guest the next morning, though, she said her room had been freezing. Though I have to give them credit for trying to be responsive to both of our requests, there apparently is some difficulty in consistently heating and cooling the place. Lees meer

Room was small but certainly adequate. Host was extremely helpful (restaurant recommendations, sightseeing suggestions, travel help). Back Bay neighborhood is close to Newberry St, historic sites, and many colleges. Easy to get around town.

Convenient location to the subway, grocery store, pharmacy, Fenway and music conservatories. We even walked (about two miles) to Boston Public Garden, etc. along Commonwealth, which is a delightful place to stroll. The hotel is on a European scale, and that was just fine for us. Very clean, efficient, low maintenance and good service.

I was looking for a place to stay in Boston that would be within my budget but in a central location. This was the only hotel meeting my criteria. The room was basic and small but clean, bed comfortable but hardly any room to move around. I found it rather difficult to use my laptop as there was no table to place it on. Also, in the three days I was […] there I was not able to have my breakfast. It was only served between 8 and 10 am and I had to be out by 7:30. The two things I liked the most were the staff who were very helpful and friendly and the free WiFi.
