Radisson Blu Resort Marina & Spa, St. Martin in Anse Marcel

We are used to all sorts of 4 and 5-star resorts in various places around the world. In this Radisson Blu we stayed for 3 nights (January 18-21, apparently a quiet season, it wasn't fully booked, we had never trouble finding a free beach chair or pool chair) in a deluxe room, facing the lush central garden, and it was really excellent. The buildings, […] the rooms, the garden, the pool area (including a separate large hot tub) as well as the beach facilities are all in a very good state, all very clean and well maintained. We didn't use all the restaurants facilities (for dinner we drove every evening to the fine French restaurants in nearby Grand Case; bring cash as they won't accept cards everywhere), except once for a nice lunch in the restaurant near the beach, and we used the breakfast which was good as well. The airco in the room worked very well (actually cooling air, which is not necessarily the case in every hotel where sometimes just hot air is being pumped around), the beds were comfortable, there are good black-out curtains and the bathroom was very good. If there is any music in the general area for evening entertainment, you luckily can't hear it in the room. The bay at the resort is much nicer than nearby Orient Bay; it's well protected from winds and waves, very nice for some swimming or water sports. The staff was very nice as well. Hotel was very nice, though quite distant from most everything else on the island. Service was very good, though prices at the bars and restaurants were definitely on the high side--we dined off premises for two dinners. Continental breakfast service was excellent, and we enjoyed tracking the local iguanas. Beach was quite pleasant, although small.

The hotel was beautiful and the pool and beach were perfect for kids. The staff were very friendly. The breakfast buffet made mornings easy. My only complaints were: (1) the food for lunch and dinner was mediocre; and (2) the restaurant service at Le C was horrible. It was not uncommon to wait for 20-30 minutes for someone to take your order or bring […] a check. One night, it took an hour to get our order. My wife and I have visited the Radisson Blu Resort, Marina & Spa St. Martin for the last four years running and we have nothing but the best of things to say about the resort and most of all the staff. If you want an absolutely perfect beach and resort to relax and unwind, the Radisson is your choice!

The secluded beach and resort is the best part. Out of all other beaches on the island, the beach at this resort was the ideal one for us due to the privacy, calmness of the waves, and the cleanliness of the water. The resort itself is beautiful, and the buffet breakfast gives a great start to the day. Highly recommended. The only negative thing is […] the 5 min drive up and down the hill to get to and return from the hotel. It is somewhat annoying and perhaps even slightly dangerous, but we got used to it after a few times. It does make going out of the resort in a rental car to explore the island a little less inviting. But because the resort itself makes up for it, it wasn't a deal breaker. The hotel was wonderful. It was very seculded and located on a beautiful ocean inlet. The grounds were spectacular. The statt was terrific and very helpful. The concierage was also a terrific help. The only negative was the on-site restaurant. The food was just fail, and the service was terrible. Otherwise, a great place to stay.

We were here for 4 nights for a birthday celebration. It was wonderful. The staff was accommodating and lovely. The restaurant recommendations were great. Claudette, the concierge, is awesome. Sunshine at the pool is the best. Albert was our taxi driver with so many tips! Great spa treatments as well.

Everything is great except two things. First, the beach is too narrow and waves/high tides easily completely submerge it. Secondly, the pricing of everything is too inflated. Such as the quality if the food does not correspond to pricing. Be careful with the mini bar, the thing is so sensitive that it will detect any slight movement as you taking stuff […] out of it. Blue on Blu. We have been to this property on several prior visits to Anse Marcel. We were disappointed with the experience for a number of reasons. First, the staff of the hotel were frankly overwhelmed by the number of guests. This was particularly problematic during breakfast and lunch--even when going early or late, i.e., taking lunch at 3:00 p.m. […] So, the capacity of the restaurants and wait staff were exceeded by guest demand. This is problematic when staying at a resort. Moreover, the restaurant did not have sufficient flatware and/or plates to service the guests. So, we had 45 minute waits for tables for breakfast and lunch--for a couple. Too many people were 'camping' at tables. The staff need to do a better job of addressing 'campers' during peak demand. We noticed non-guests being served at the restaurants, which during peak times is a problem. Second, the resort apparently caters to people with children--there was an abundance of infants and toddlers--not a recipe for relaxation. Finally, there was a noise issue--we had unruly teen-aged neighbors whose antics went on into the wee hours on many nights. The hotel staff did not seem equipped to deal with this situation in a meaningful way. We thought that the resort was not a good value relative to the cost. We will revert to our other venue--still on the French side of the island--but away from the insanity of Grand Case. Not a place for couples, unless unruly children are something that is enjoyable. Overall, good experience. The pool is great. Breakfast was ok. Stayed at marina suite, which, apparently only has a king bed, but when I booked, it seemed like there was an option for 2 queen beds, which I wanted.

The hotel was lovely and the quiet beach gorgeous. Alaine gave us wonderful restaurant suggestions when we asked about going to different locations around St. Maartin. Every recommendation had the most delicious food and service! A car is mandatory as the hotel is rather secluded. The drive from the main road to the hotel is a bit crazy with curves […] and hills! French is the predominant language spoken and my "personal" opinion is that you got a little bit better service/reception from staff if you did speak french (which we did not). That, along with the toilet in our room not flushing well are my only negatives (I did notify the front desk on the arrival day about our toilet) All in all, I would highly recommend this hotel if you want some peace and quiet. We went during August and their were a lot of families from France and Italy but still ample seating at the beach and in restaurants. We are American so enjoyed the sound of so many different languages. Property was just renovated so very clean and cheerful. This is a nice hotel. The staff was friendly but not intrusive. There is a small beach and a large pool as options to soak-swim. The buffet breakfest was good, better than most. The grounds are well maintained and quite nice. The hotel is somewhat "off the beaten path". This worked well for us as we also rented a car. There were alot of children at […] this hotel. I would suggest renting a car because you are far from everything and the parking is free. The pool is HUGE and amazing and there is a private beach. They complimentary breakfast even has an omelette & waffle station. We loved it!!

This resort was on the opposite side of the island from the airport, but after staying at two other resorts on our trip, I'd say I would stay there again. The beach was amazing and plenty of luxuries.

I can highly recommend this hotel for a pleasant and relaxing stay at the French side of St Maarten. Perfect facilities for families. Wonderful pool, also for the smallest children. This hotel has recently been refurbished and is lovely. It is remote but that is exactly what we look for. Reception is very inviting with a beautiful view out to the cove. The rooms are spacious and modern with a Nespresso machine. The pool area is extremly large and great for families as there are several areas that are shallow. If you are looking for a peaceful vacation, away from throngs of tourists and loud crowds, then this if for you. We were here in the off-season, but the isolated cove that the resort is situated in made for a tranquil setting regardless of the time of year. If you do choose to stay at the Radisson, you need a rental car to get to quality attractions […] such as Pinel Island and the restaurants of Grand Case. On the other hand, the beach and the pool at the resort are outstanding. We found the staff very helpful and accommodating to our requests, especially Alain the concierge who was a great resource. There were some flaws - we did have to request a different room to escape a strong sewage smell and some of the halls looked in need of updating - but they worked hard to rectify any problems we encountered. When we travelled around the island, we saw other "four star" hotels that could not compare to the Radisson. We would most certainly come back and stay here again. Lees meer

Hotel is run down. Hallways are old and dirty. Rooms are so-so but there was hair on the bathroom floor when we got to our room- it looked like the floor had not been cleaned which was gross. Again room itself was ok but not worth the price that we paid in the off season. We also had booked a king room but when we arrived at our room, it had 2 double […] beds instead of one king bed. We went back to the desk where we were told that the only king room available was an upgraded room and we would have to pay the difference in price if we wanted a king room. We had to ask to speak to the manager and then "suddenly" they found a king room to give us. It certainly appeared as though they were just trying to take advantage of us and get us to pay more money. The resort was practically empty while we were there yet it was rare that anyone came to offer drinks, food, etc. The hotel could be beautiful if a lot of work was put into it, and the staff certainly needs improvement as well. Overall a stunningly beautiful location and facility. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and the overall stay was excellent. I would recommend eating outside of the resort due to the poor Euro exchange and high food prices. Other than that, we were extremely pleased!

This hotel and the island of St Martin, became our new favorite location to go. We travel allot but for my wife this place was near perfect. The large infinity pool right up against a quiet beach surrounded by palm trees and many different flowering plants rested us phyically and mentally. Our experience at this hotel was very good, for us was a new place we met, we came from a magnificent hotel on the St. Barth island (Cristhopher), but this hotel if it meets all our requirements except restaurant of the night, which is not well served. Beautiful hotel, spectacular grounds, romantic setting. We had been on this site two other times, when it was another hotel. The Radisson did a great job with their changes. The property is on an isolated part of the island, the view coming down from the small mountain is beautiful. The property is in a v-shaped valley, being shared with a small french […] hotel (le Domaine) and a marina. The Radisson's portion gives it a large beautifully shaped property, that they have done a fantastic job. Everything was elegant and tasteful. The staff was very friendly and attentive, the food was very good, and they even have a very adequate fitness facility. The hotel is remote- so enjoy the people you are with! The entertainment is the romantic environment they have created- nothing else. We rarely have been pool loungers, but their large infinity pool drew us to hang at the pool most of the time. The cove where the beach is gives you a clean beautiful alternative, with free snorkling, that was well worth doing! For the first time in many years, we chose to stay at the hotel and just relaxed- and loved it! Sint Martin is very different from the Dutch side, and the island as a whole has a lot to offer for those looking for a varied vacation. The Radisson is remote, but convenient to two (Grand Case, and Orient Beach) of the more happening places on the French side. American's might be a little shy about the topless, and (Orient) nude french habits, but we found this trip fantastic! Lees meer

Previous to arrive I had made a call to the hotel to request a room in the East wing. I did give a few room numbers as to give the hotel a choice for availablity. We arrived about 2 hours before check in we were welcomed with planters punch and open arms. All of the restaurants were good, the pool was nice and the beach was peaceful. If you know the landscape of St Maarten, then you will have absolutely no problem. We hired a car from airport and drove there, it was very well sign posted along the way. After passing through the uphill and downhill winy road, we managed to get to Radisson Blu. There will always be a man or two to lift the gates and everytime they will ask where you […] are heading to. We first checked in and they have placed us on the ground floor and looking at back of their carpark. I was not too keen on it (lack of privacy and not really a good view) and have asked for a swap immediately, lobby staff was helpful and checked us into a room looking at the mountain ranges on the 3rd floor. Nice, comfortable room. Buffet breakfast was good and you never have to wait for them to refill the plates. Staff were always quick to serve and friendly at Le Marche. Dined twice at C' Le Restarurant, a la carte both times, excellent food, great service esp if you do not want to go out every night. Limited choices of restaurants outside the hotel, so you'd be prepared to drive or take a cab to venture out. Wifi at lobby, waterfront, pool was useful, would be great to have it in the room too. My friends and I stayed at the Radisson Blu in St. Maarten for 4 nights in February. We chose this resort as we were looking for a beautiful hotel in a quiet location with good reviews on trip advisor. We were not disappointed. The room was nicely sized, clean, and the beds were super comfortable (both were sleep number beds). We made use of the gym […] and business center with internet – both free and open 24 hours. The hotel has an amazing pool, hot tub, and beach. There are a number of water activities, including kayaks (free) and jet skis (expensive to rent). As the hotel was so beautiful, we didn't feel the need to leave the grounds. Had we chosen to do outside activities, we may have rented a car (there appeared to be a car rental agent at the hotel#. The few taxis that we took #to the airport, etc.), were expensive, but all arrived early and were honest and reliable. As we had special dietary needs, we were given a fridge for our room, which came in handy. As for the crowd at the hotel, it was mostly family oriented and not the party-going type. One thing to know about the hotel is that as it is secluded, there is no ATM or grocery stores walking distance. I think that the nearest ATM is a 5 minute drive. If you are looking for a party, the Dutch side would better suit your needs. However, if you are looking for a beautiful French style hotel in a quiet and beautiful setting with everything you need in one place, I would highly recommend the Radisson Blu. Lees meer
