uitstekend hotel met ruime kamers en een zeer vriendelijke staf. De locatie is zeer centraal in Manhattan waardoor veel op loopafstand bereikbaar is.

Het hotel is op een super locatie. Times Square, 5th Avenue, Madison Avenue en Central Park zijn heel goed aan te lopen. In hetzelfde rijtje als het hotel, kun je heel goed en op "the American way" ontbijten bij "NY Luncheonette" en heerlijke sushi eten bij "Nada Sushi". "Chipotle Mexican Grill", 1 blok verder, is ook een echte aanrader! We wilden […] van de metro gebruik maken, maar de metro halte "50th Street/Lexington Avenue" was alleen doordeweeks open. In het weekend moet je gebruik maken van andere haltes, klein stukje verderop. De kamer zag er wat gedateerd uit in verhouding met entree en de lobby van het hotel, maar de bedden op de kamer waren echt super. Elke dag schone handoeken is ook erg prettig. Helaas hadden we uitzicht op een muur en het geluid van een ventilatie systeem (kwam van buitenaf) wat af en toe leek op opstijgende vliegtuigen. Ondanks dat was het een heel goed hotel en zou ik het zeker andere aanraden. Bij eventuel volgend bezoek aan New York zou ik zo weer voor dit hotel kiezen. Lees meer

Heel prettig hotel, in een goede buurt, op loopafstand van bv 5 th ave, maar ook van subway. Rustig, geen lawaai. heel prettig personeel, uitermate vriendelijk en goed gehumeurd. Goed sanitair. We hadden voor ons gezin een 5 persoonskamer met een keukentje. Voor internet moesten we naar het gezamenlijk gatenverblijf op de 2e etage, maar dat was een […] prima plek om even te zitten. Daar wordt ook het ontbijt geserveerd, maar daar hebben we geen gebruik van gemaakt. Op donderdag een happy hour met wijn en chips voor de gasten op diezelfde 2e etage. Het (appartementen) hotel was goed. Wel wat verouderd in de kamer maar netjes en in een rustige buurt. Dichtbij een subway station en dus makkelijk om naar de verschillende bezienswaardigheden te reizen. Hele vriendelijke mensen en voldoende eetgelegenheden in de buurt. Op de kamer was een klein keukentje met koelkast voor het ontbijt. Jammer dat er […] maar 1 stoel was voor 4 personen. Dat had wat meer gemogen. I expected the room to be small based on the description, but it was not at all. The lounge on the second floor is nice. Room was clean. The hotel was in a great location. Overall I would say this hotel was a good find in the city and I would stay here again.

For a European room size is enormous. Loved being able to stock the fridge with yogurt and juice for a reasonable breakfast. Loved the nearby huge choice of restaurants To explore at the end of each day. This was a home away from home!,

The hotel was beautiful. My boyfriend and I like to stay in hotels at least once a month just to get away. and this hotel was beautiful. Not too far from grand central. Everybody was nice and the room was super comfortable. I would def. stay again.

Fantastic place for a night in NY on the way back from Peru. We got there really too early but the reception was kind enough to check us in anyway so we could grab a shower etc. Room and bed was very comfortable and being on the second floor, we were right next to gym and business centre so we got the lobby wifi in our room for free! Terrific location. Rooms larger than average for NYC. As a native NYer, I'm pretty picky & stay at this chain (plus their 34th St. location) often. Just be advised they're doing construction between 8:30 & 5 for awhile (my stay was 2/6/13). The reception staff were excellent and the young doorman was exceptional! His expression of "Welcome home" after a long day out sightseeing made us feel special as we really felt like we'd arrived home. The location of this hotel provides easy access to everything in the midtown of NYC. The subway and Grand Central station are an easy walk away. We always enjoy staying at Affinia Hotels, particularly this property as it is convenient for us, has large suites and a large comfortable nicely decorated second floor lounge. They are very nice and helpful. My gripes this visit were primarily that the sofa bed was miserable, the toilet seat was broken (they did replace it within an hour of our complaint) […] and there is no food served in the lounge for breakfast, but they make good coffee. Most similar properties in the area provide basic continental breakfast included in the rate. Frankly, this time around we got a very good price for the room, maybe 60% of what we usually pay. Had the rate been higher my gripes would have been bigger. Overall, still, I recommend this property as long as you don't pay top dollar for it. Lees meer

When we booked our stay at Affinia 50 hotel, we didn't have too many expectations (well, it was cheaper than the average hotel in NYC and despite good reviews, we were skeptics) however after staying there for 3 nights (Fri-Mon), we've enjoyed every moment of that small and nice place with very friendly and helpful staff.

The room was much smaller than advertised and the condition of everything was poor - it is just not a well cared for hotel. The location is great, very close to subway station. Uniformed bell-staff were helpful. The lobby area is on the second floor and they serve free wine in the evening. Breakfast and internet access are extra and quite expensive. The room was very large for a New York hotel. The street facing the hotel is not super busy but there is some noise. The bathtub […] was very large and pristine clean. The bed was too soft and not really comfortable but this is sometimes a personal taste. There is no coffee-maker in the room, there may be coffee in the second floor lobby area but I have not checked. The writing table is covered with glass and has reading lights pointing downwards, which causes lots of glare. Also, obviously you cannot use your mouse on a glass surface so good luck if you didn't take your mouse pad with you. The room has a safe.I had a rather late flight out, I didn't bother to put the "do not disturb" sign and I woke up to housecleaning knocking on the door at 9 am. This is hotel is perfectly fine. Room is nice and clean, staff seems friendly. A little on the run-down side, but it's not a problem really. My only complaint for the hotel at the moment is the massive construction going on. My husband and I were hoping to sleep in, but there was massive construction apparently going on right above us. We woke up at […] 830 to drilling, hammering and other noises, so loud we had to shout to eachother. The only thing I would change about the hotel is the ironing boards. A full-size ironing board, as opposed to the small one provided in the rooms, would make me much more likely to return. It s usually important when I'm in New York that my clothing be pressed and the small board is hard to use.

I booked 4 rooms for myself and my staff. The room size was good. The bathroom however is very small. My biggest problem with the hotel is the smell of cigarettes. I checked in at 3:30 pm. They had 2 rooms but I was told they are not ready. An hour an a half later, I finally got my room. When I got into my room, the first thing I noticed was the smell […] of cigarettes plus an overdose of air freshener, used to cover the smell of cigarettes. I am sure the reason the reception delayed getting me my room was to try to let the room air out. Eventually after a day or so, the room smell cleared up. I thought the staff was the best thing about the Affinia 50. Every single person is friendly; they are obviously well trained in hospitality and have the right balance of making guests feel that they (staff) are there to help and yet respecting your privacy. It was a wonderful stay and the hotel and staff were very accommodating. My only negative was the delay in the elevators. They were very slow, but that was minor compared to the overall comfort of the hotel.

I was fortunate enough to be upgraded to a suite and enjoyed the experience of having a "pied-a-terre" in my old neighborhood. Staff was charming and helpful. Location is terrific. Rooms were spacious and comfortable, and I loved having an equipped kitchen. Would definitely return and recommend to friends.

We really like the size of the rooms, but the the furniture is worn. It's really time for new furniture and carpeting. The heat was turned off in the hotel so our bedroom was cold. The bathroom needs more amenities. The towels did not smell fresh. The elevators run very slowly and people wait a long while. The phone cord was plugged into the wrong socket […] and didn't work. Most of the staff is very nice.The front desk would not give us our "Stash points" since we booked on a hotel web sight. I didn't know that made a difference. We stayed 3 nights. Great location for catching metro trains uptown to museums, downtown to theater and eastbound to airports. Staff is friendly and efficient. I especially appreciated the doorman who welcomed me every time I approached the door. The room was good-sized, with a lovely armchair and large desk. First of all, the Affinia chains have some of the largest rooms in nyc without the premium price. For a small fee,you can upgrade to a junior suite or one bedroom suite upon checkin if they are avail. I highly highly recommend atleast doing the junior suite...they are huge and have a full kitchen. I have stayed several times at this hotel and dumount […] and have no qualms about going back. The hotel was one of the few that allowed 6 people in a room which was nice, two rooms would have busted the budget. The room was okay with the exception of the bathroom. The hotel room was small, which is typical of most NY hotels. It is contemporary and the staff was friendly. The walls are a little thin though. The location is prime walking distance to Park and Madison Avenue. Times Square is only a short walk away. Nice place overall.

Our family stay was excellent. All 16 of us in 5 rooms! Rooms are large and comfortable, and very reasonably priced; the service was friendly; and the location was great for our sightseeing.

I enjoyed the stay and the staff. Room was spacious, however the climate control wasn't working so I was a bit cold most of the time. Internet service was spotty at times and housekeeping left me without a duvee cover one night.
