Cheap ikea furniture. very loud bar and restaurant. no wonder they provided ear plugs! long walk to downtown across the bridge. i will never stay here again.

This damp motel room had an airconditioner/heater that could not keep a constant temp in room. Shower water temp. would go from hot to cold and back to hot. There is no chill side, can be loud at times.

Great hip Hotel carrying the hospitality and unique Portland signature. A bit noicy at times but great venue to feel the Portland music and vib scene, the Doug Fire is also great, food and drinks. People are so welcoming on the west coast style

Really enjoyed our stay. The service at the hotel was outstanding, the front desk attendants were very knowledgeable about the area and helpful with any questions we had. One complaint is that we got charged $9 a night for parking (which isnt a bad price) but the parking garage only held like 18 cars, and it was full the whole weekend, so we had to […] park a couple blocks away on the street, yet was still charged. The Jupiter Hotel (motel) was fine enough, there was a lounge and restaurant and night club on the property which, made it very convenient. Beware of the room(s) right above the night club. Not even the earplugs they supplied (should've been my first clue) helped much. Although it advertises as "gay friendly," I was expecting it to be "gayer" than it […] was. It wasn't as gay as I would've liked. Most of the gay spots (and hotels) in Portland are on the other side of the river. The gift certificate for a baker's dozen of Voodoo Doughnuts were a nice touch though. Perhaps a consolation prize for having been booked into the room above the night club... Lees meer

Clean, trendy, but loud. It's convenient to the convention center and the Rose Garden (15 minute walk) I'd stay here again, but people who don't like a party scene might want to stay elsewhere, especially on weekends. The Doug Fir is a music venue/restaurant on the property. Lots of good live music, and good breakfast. But it brings in a loud crowd […] some nights. The hotel gives you earplugs. Use them! The customer services was great. The room was small. The heat and air condition was not the best location in the room because it was loud. Internet was poor. My boyfriend works in construction so he saw how poorly thing were hidden. I didn't noticed those things, through.

If you are coming to Portland to visit, not to hang out in a hotel, this is a good spot. It is in a good location to walk downtown and to lots of breweries, restaurants, distilleries nearby, but the room is nothing special. Easy walk/bus over Burnside bridge to downtown. We did not have a car and were never too far from anything we wanted to go do. […] Lots of food and drinks nearby. Price was good, not great compared to other hotels downtown. I went with the "Metro" over the "Lobu" room, but don't really see how it could be much smaller - bed, small desk, 1 chair in the corner, little bathroom. The furniture was very Ikea - clean lines and well designed, but definitely not holding up too well. We were on the Chill side and could not hear any noise from the bar/band when we turned in early one night, but the bar side is literally right over/adjacent to the patio and I could see how that would be noisy. The bed was comfy. The bathroom was kinda gross though. Some water damage and paint cracking on the ceiling and walls, some mildew-y spots, and the floor obviously had not been thoroughly cleaned in quite a while (dirty grout and REALLY dirty around the molding). No coffee maker in the room, but they had Stumptown in the lobby, so that's better than anything out of a plastic braun, but you DO have to get dressed for it. :) All in all, a good hotel, a good price, not the cleanest, but a great location for exploring the city. Converted motel is now where the hipsters hang. If this is you, it's perfect, especially to dry out after a night of clubbing. If not, you should beware. I took my wife to an early Valentine's Day dinner at hot Portland Restaurant "Le Pigeon", and decided to get a room for us at the Jupiter Hotel, just a block away. The Jupiter is a former motor lodge […] adorned with modern art. But the rooms are barely more comfortable than motel rooms. There are a couple of unique amenities: the back of the room's door is a blackboard, and guests are provided with chalk. And the room is supplied with condoms that sport the Jupiter Hotel logo. Our room was supposed to be in the "quieter" area, with noise cutoff at 11PM. But we were just across the driveway from the Doug Fir Lounge, a really hot night spot, so the noise kept going anyway well after 11. My other complaint was that the hotel's free wifi had such a low signal that I could only get my ipad connected by holding it above my head. Lees meer

We love the Jupiter Hotel! The location is great, the attention to green practices is admirable, and staff is amazing. We love the shops on Burnside right across the street as well, fun consignment shopping as well as good food and coffee at Grendel's. The staff was extremely helpful, knowledgable, and friendly. I had Rm. 135 on the "chill side". Nice aesthetics, nice staff, and convenient location, but the hotel room smelled like wet wool and lemon bleach. I also had to battle the shower as it ran super hot or super cold when a neighboring room flushed a toilet or took a shower simultaneously. Plumbing kinda blows. Don't bath in the morning busy hours. I could talk about the hotel's great staff, great rooms, great atmosphere & the awesome bar/restaurant the Doug Fir but instead I'd like to just say this. The Jupiter Hotel is like a hostel for people who aren't 19 anymore.

Had a great time here. Staff was friendly and being so close (connected) to the doug fir lounge was a nice bonus. Loved the fire outside and the people, quite the hipster place.

Our stay at the Juniper was good with a few challenges that I considered was a Forgiveness vs. Permission Scenario, when we book or checked no mention was made to the fact that the Lounge Outdoor Patio was 10 Feet from our Room Large Picture type window. This room was so small that my husband and I couldn't walk around the bed at the same time. It's an old 50's style cheap hotel with some designs painted on the wall to disguise it as cool. I think the mattress was from the 50's too and it had no box spring, sitting low to the ground. The bedside supplies should have been a clue; Ear plugs and a condom. We stayed at the Jupiter on a Friday and Saturday night. When we arrived the staff were really friendly and set us up with some bike rentals, a map and suggestions for cool places to go (thanks Danny!). It is loud at night but if you're worried stay on the Chill side and make use of your ear plugs. The benefits of being on top of the Doug Fir to see […] bands, have drinks or food definitely outweigh the noise. This hotel is awesome. Lees meer

The Jupiter is built for fun -- and for a hip, young crowd who appreciate its whimsical aesthetic. yes, the bed is a little hard and yes, it vaguely smelled like strawberry lube in my room, but it had some nice touches (like the bottles of washington wine and the chalkboard door). parking was reasonable ($8/night -- i've been gouged $30/night at other […] hotels) and the service was friendly and helpful. my only complaint was my breakfast at the doug fir. bland and disappointing mushroom omelette, salty hashbrowns and dry-as-sand biscuit. given that I have many choices for a great breakfast in Portland, this was very disappointing. cool hotel but if you like quiet this is not the hotel for you.

All in all the Jupiter felt like a target decorated Motel. it was clean, and well located but def not worth the price. It's nice that they have a cool bar on the premises but next time I'll stay somewhere cheaper and if i feel like getting a drink there I can. I recently stayed at the Jupiter with some friends and had a great time. I loved the room! The bedding was clean and very comfortable to sleep in, I loved that you could write on your front door because it is a chalkboard, the atmosphere is so chill......if you are a snob that wants a quite hotel this is not the place for you. If you want to soak up […] the chill Portland way of life then this is your place. They have live music on select evenings, a nice bar and restuarant and they are conveniently located by a few bars. Very nice, Zen / minimalist remodel of an old motel. Great staff. Really great restaurant. Cool neighborhood. We'll definitely return next time we're in Portland.

our stay at the jupiter hotel was perfect. word on the street was that we got lucky there was no live show in the lounge on the night we stayed, as it can be pretty rowdy. super cute room equipped with wine and water ready for emergency situations at a reasonable price. delicious breaky in the restaurant too. we wished we could have stayed for another […] couple of nights to enjoy the amenities more extensively...we will be back! Staying in PDX for a convention, I wanted something a little more boutique in a hotel. This was a 7 minute walk to the convention center, good surrounding restaurants, just as billed in other reviews. Stayed on the chill side and it was a little loud. Quite time was enforced at 11pm. whether you want to chill or party you can do both...cool restaurant/ lounge in hotel (Doug Fir) everything is clean but I wouldn't necessarily soak in the tub only qualm...but the trade off for all the other amenities for the price is well worth it

The idea WAS great...the owners I think bought a cheap run-down motel and tried to vamp it up into a modern-hipster hotel. HOWEVER, it's OVERPRICED and STILL cheap. The owner cut corners everywhere to save money: no foam under felt carpeting, cheap-and-pilling sheets, paint designs on wall hit ceiling and weren't corrected, etc.

Pulled up to the hotel and it was much smaller and party central. Drunk 20 somethings stumbling all over the drive way, smoking at check in, and leaning against my car (one was trying to vomit and using my bmw to lean against!!!) If you want to sleep, don't stay here. If you want to drink and party all night - stay here. PS - the rooms are small, […] and people check in late night for a cheap if they meet somebody in the bar they want to sleep with at the hotel. NOT Recommended for families or adults or anybody unless you are a drunk 20 year old. So disapointed! Lees meer

very cool place. Can get noisy but I survived with the included ear plugs. Also helps to turn on the room fan if the noise gets too loud. summertime should be more noisy than winter. I liked it tho.

The staff were incredibly nice and helpful, even allowing me to leave my phone with them at the front desk to charge when I temporarily misplaced my charger. The room was small, clean, and pleasant. Ear plugs provided! As well as a condom, a couple bottles of water, and wine. It got a little noisy (in the afternoon particularly, which was surprising […] to me), but using the wall a/c unit was enough white noise to drown it out. On the property, the Doug Fir bar and restaurant were great. The food was delicious, the cocktails were interesting, and again -- the staff were great. Next door was Le Pigeon. It was considerably more pricey, but wonderful. An amazing store across the street, Redux, had one of the best collections of unique jewelry I've ever seen. Yay! It's not exciting, but it was convenient to the convention center with about a half-mile walk. Though not fancy, it was great for the price, excellent staff, clean design, and excellent restaurants nearby. If/when I'm back in Portland, it's likely I'll stay at Jupiter again. Lees meer

Necessary accommodations for event I was attending a half block away. I stayed at the Heathman for the same price a week prior, only one bed at the Heathman, not two. Heathman was luxurious, cool and loaded with greatness. The Jupiter was kitschy and necessary, but not great.

The Jupiter is a great hotel in an awesome part of Portland. I drove down from Seattle with a few friends who wanted to get a Portland experience. I picked the Jupiter because, having previously lived in Portland, I knew that section of town is where a lot of the really cool night life is located. The Jupiter was really accommodating, they made sure […] they had the names of everyone in my group, in case someone lost their key and got locked out. If you want to visit Portland and get a nice taste of it's nightlife, you couldn't pick a better location it's a really fantastic location. There is tons of cool bars, clubs and music venues all within walking distance. Not to mention the Doug Fir, which is a great music venue, and has a very nice and affordable restaurant. One thing I would recommend, is skip the parking fee and look for free parking a few blocks to the south. Just make sure you're not in a tow zone. We enjoyed our stay. The rooms are compact but clean. Our room faced the courtyard bar, but noise wasn't a real issue and the hotel leaves earplugs in the room, just in case. The bar was great, inside and out. A firepit outside brought people together to talk or just quietly enjoy a drink. The management was good about asking bar patrons to keep to […] a respectful noise level since hotel guests were asleep in surrounding rooms. Bands play in the lounge basement. Tasty food at the bar/restaurant! I like the area a lot, surrounded by other good restaurants (Le Pigeon, Noble Rot). Not the place my parent's would stay, but perfect for people who don't want absolute peace & quiet. Fun! Lees meer

The Jupiter is a great hotel to stay at in Portland; great location, great rooms, fun atmosphere, awesome staff and guests. I will definitely consider staying here again when I return to Portland...which will be soon.

While some may be slightly turned off by the edgy, new age look of the hotel with a cool updated motel style, the people at the hotel, restaurant and surrounding area the hotel were very friendly and nice to be around while the actual hotel was super cool and the room was more than I could ask for. It didn't have the new technologies you would see at […] a lot of hotels with a small tv and in wall ac, but the room was more than enough for me. Aside from the hotel the attached restaurant Doug's Fur was spectacular for any meal. All in All good stay. Lees meer

Very good hotel with excellent service. However the nightclub outside the door is open until midnight. Not a problem for my or my travel company however.
