Akumal Beach Resort All Inclusive in Akumal

The beach was beautiful with snorkeling and easy access to town of akumal. The resort was clean and staff very friendly! The good was healthy and delicious. We hope to return.

- Fantastic beach. - Every time there was a problem the staff was immediately responsive. - Staff was very nice. - We had to change rooms when our first room had a plumbing problem that resulted in all of our things on the floor getting wet, plus blankets on the beds that touched the floor. No compensation was offered. - Our second room also had a plumbing […] problem but that occurrance affected the whole building (building 5). - Wifi is only available in lobby at a charge of $35/wk per machine. Wifi was supposedly available in the main bar but I couldn't maintain a connection. Wifi should be free in the lobby and available in rooms. - Food ok. Coffee was always in short supply when first put out in the morning. Coffee was not available until just before 7am with many grumpy tired looking people waiting. No tea or hot water was put with with the coffee. It seems it wouldn't be that difficult for the hotel to offer two pots of coffee and hot water by 6:15am. They sure would have happier hotel patrons. The hotel is very nicely located, directly at a wonderful beach, next to the famous Akumal bay. The reef there can be reached from the shore, and in between we can see turtles tasting some algas there, always a great encounter. Saw a couple of sting rays as well, was actually better to snorkel there than the snorkeling trip I did in Cozumel (Palancar), […] where the coral was beautiful but too deep (7-10m). Snorkeling right off of the beach= great! But you have to pay $15 per day to rent snorkel gear (if you can actually find the person that runs the dive shop). Did well to make the drive to the Playa Del Carmen Walmart to buy our own. Room was clean but smelled strongly of mildew upon check in. Also found issue with very tiny ants in room. If you want to stay in Akumal, enjoy its world class beach and snorkeling, and save some money this is the place. ABR is pretty basic, with out of date rooms and hard as rock beds. But it's 200 yards down from the center of Akumal Bay, has a great beach of its own, a decent pool and Dos Equis on tap. The food is no frills. It is rare that you find a gem in todays world and that is what this hotel offers peace, tranquility, A beautiful beachfront. Very kid friendly and the staff are fantastic . The 3 girls from the kids club are awesome and a real asset , the turtle's are incredible and words can not decribe them . the rooms are spotless and the food is the best we have […] had along the cancun, riveria maya hotels . kudos to the chef's . and the spa massage on the beach well my wife is a new woman thanks to them . if you are looking for a non crowded quiet place with a great beach and great staff this is the place to go . this has to be some of the best snorkeling around and it is right off of the beach . if you want to relax and read or snorkel then this is the place !!! A wonderful resort with great facilities. The only thing missing was a coffee maker and minifridge for the room BUT it was only a few steps away at the bar. Authentic mexican feel and decor with great service and food. They even had fun activities all day. Room for familes and quiet areas for couples. The ABR is a very laid back friendly place. Food is more authentic Mexican food than the mega resorts. Beach is wonderful, plenty of space between palapas, not crowded like some resorts. Very friendly people working there & the guests are friendly as well. Not a real fancy place, so if that's what you want, pick a different resort. We stayed at the hotel with our 4 month and 2 year old children. We arrived early (before 3 pm) and our room was ready. We could even get lunch. We asked for a baby crib which we got very quickly. The room was simple but clean. The screen door didn't work very well, but it wasn't a big deal. The staff was very friendly: from the receptionist, the bartender, […] the waiters to the cleaning lady. The whole area and the beach is very nice. Excellent snorkeling: We saw turtles, rays... just a couple of feet from the beach. We liked that the resort is not too big and crowded. Lees meer

First time at Akumal Beach Resort. We read other reviews before deciding to stay there. We didn't have really high expectations but thought it would be the kind of place we would like. Upon check-in and throughout our stay (1 week) we were more and more pleased with ABR. The staff is GREAT, the food was just fine with lots of choices at each meal. Jorge, […] the meals manager, was very attentive and informative. Food always fresh and tasty. Snack bar provides pizza, hot dogs, burgers and ice cream for between regular meal service. Great bartenders and other staff. Our room was simple and beachfront. The beds are very firm but they will put a foam pad on if you ask. The grounds were so beautiful, nice pools, and supreme snorkeling. ABR is small and quiet, close to Akumal town and easy drives to Tulum and other great sites. We made new friends that we will see again next year because we will go back, in fact, we didn't want to leave. Don't believe bad reviews...however, if you want 5 stars go someplace else. Lees meer

Loved the location, beach beautiful. Don't change your dollars at the airport (they give you about 10.4 pesos per dollar). Most shops will take dollars & next time I'm going to bring one dollar bills with me (for tips, etc.)

We were very surprised we rented our last two nights in the Yucatan in " The Land of the Turtles". Amazing snorkeling off the beach of this resort. The staff was friendly and the food was decent. If you are a wine drinker, consider the upgrade. Typical tiled Mexican room with a big balcony facing the ocean. Air conditioning worked great. Even the vents […] were clean. The night life was what you made of it but the closest action was in Tulum. Lees meer

You can't beat the beach at Akumal - it's beautiful, was deserted while we were there, and you can get some of the best snorkeling in Mexico right off the beach. That said, the Akumal Beach Resort was only mediocre. Although their website boasts of various restaurants, in the off season only one restaurant with a very limited menu and bad food was open. […] The rooms were fine but very basic, and ours smelled of mildew. Don't forget your shampoo or other personal care items because they don't provide any in the rooms. I think the biggest drawback was the bad food - I wasn't expecting a 5 star dining experience but I was expecting something at least palatable. Lees meer

Very nice hotel on the beach. The area is very quiet and you can easily snorkel with turtles. The reef is however deeply damaged by Wilma. The staff is extremely friendly and the food very good. We went dining every evening on the "specialty restaurant" alternating italian and mexican menus: the menus however lacked variety. We stayed in the Tulum building […] that is renovated. Godt 3 stjernet fanmiliehotel. Fin all-inculsive service. God pool. Stranden bedst til snorkling, pga koreller - der så vi store havskildpadder. Velegnet til børnefamilier.

Härligt hotell, precis lagom stort. Alltid lätt att få solstol, tyckte dock att maten var lite tråkig. Bra lekledare, otroligt serviceminded personal på hela hotellet. Otroligt fin strand och bra snorkling.

Hotellet ligger fint på stranden där man kan välja på att snorkla över koraller eller bland havssköldpaddor. Vi var där första veckan i november. Maten var helt ok och faktumet att det inte var högsäsong gjorde att det fanns gott om bra solstolar och att stämningen var trivsam.

I cant recomend this resort. We lived here for two days because we want to snorkling and se turtles. We didnt saw any Turtles and thats one thing. But the hotel was terrible. Bad room, bad food, bad standard. No flush and light in some of the toilets. We lived at 5 different hotels on our trip and this was the worst. The most of the others was great. […] DONT LIVE HERE!
