Hostal Persal in Madrid

Heerlijke verblijf gehad in dit Hostel! Vriendelijk personeel, Engels sprekend. Ontbijt prima verzorgd. Prijs-kwaliteit helemaal goed. Airco in hotel gaat alleen aan in de zomer dus we hadden een beetje een warme kamer. Meteen werd er een ventilator geregeld. Top.

Ik heb in mijn leven heel wat hotels en hostels gezien. Dit is zeker een goed hotel, beleefde mensen bij de receptie. Netjes onderhouden en schoon. De ligging is goed, dicht bij veel Bezienswaardigheden en het metro station. 3 min. lopen van het plaza del sol.

Rustig geolegen in drukke stadscentrum, mooi centraal, kleine badkamer maar voldoende. Goed ontbijt. een aanrader voor die prijs.

Een erg leuk hotel op een superlocatie! Het hotel heeft een zeer ruime lobby met net gekleed personeel. Op de een of andere manier maakt dit toch wel meer indruk, dan als het personeel in hun spijkerbroek en t-shirt er staat. De ligging is optimaal. In de wijk Huertas met ontzettend veel leuke restaurantjes en cafés. Vanaf Sol (centrale plein van de […] stad, vergelijkbaar met de Dam in Amsterdam) zie je het hotel liggen als je in één van de zijstraatjes kijkt. Een nadeel is wel dat het hotel ontzettend gehorig is. Je buren die hoor je bijna letterlijk, terwijl ze gewoon praten in hun hotelkamer. Dit kan erg vervelend zijn als je elke dag om 22u in bed wilt liggen, aangezien in Madrid mensen pas na 22u gaan eten en op z'n vroegst om 12u thuis zijn. En dus de meeste buren ook. Ik had oordopjes bij mij, tegen de enthousiaste Britten naast onze hotelkamer, en dat voldeed prima. Kortom, een prima hotel die ik iedereen zou aanraden. Prima prijs voor zo'n centraal gelegen hotel. Waar ik wel in het begin huiverig voor was, was de omschrijving 'youth hostel'. Dat snap ik niet, er zijn in ieder geval geen gedeelde kamers oid en het hotel is zeker niet alleen gericht op jongeren. Lees meer

De "standaard"kamers zijn erg klein en benauwd. Voor mensen die langer zijn dan 1.70 m zijn de badkamers een crime. Douchebak was ong. 45 x 45 cm. Service was wel goed, manager aangesproken en we kregen dezelfde dag een andere kamer die redelijk was. Werd keurig schoongemaakt en vriendelijk personeel. Ontbijt erg eenzijdig. The location of this hostel is good. Near Sol - it's easy to go many places by walk from here. Kind staffs, and clean room. However, sunshine can't reach to the room. And my room was 4F, but elevator can go up to 3F, can't 4F. In addition, this old-styled elevator can move after the outside door is closed, but sometimes, this door didn't be closed  […] itself. Hotel is in the center of all the great Plaza's,

I had some very noisy, rowdy neighbors during my first night's stay and had to complain twice. First, three young men pounded on the door across the hall from me, yelling, and I feared for my safety. Later in the evening they set off an alarm. I think management should have offered to move me to another room. Close to the Sol Underground Station and other nice places to see

We stayed here for the first 4 nights we were in Spain and aside from extreme jet lag and lack of sleep, this place was great. The pillows were the only uncomfortable part. But who cares about that, right? The staff were very kind and spoke English.

Friendly staff & Great location !! 5 mins walk to Sol. 1 min walk to the bus station round the back of the hotel that takes you to the main train station where you can catch the train to other part of Spain or Aircoach directly to the Airport !! Free WIFI in room is a plus.

The hotel is extremely clean, the staff is wonderful and everyone is by-lingual. Manuel was so very helpful!!; the location couldn't be better and the area around is great. Walking distance to the Museo del Prado and the Royal Palace. The rooms are on the small size but comfortable with private bath and very clean!!. very clean and basic hotel, if you looking for a hotel that has a great location, for the money this is fantastic, staff were very friendly and breakfast was limited but did the job

good enough for the price. vry good location. but dont book a single room, it was the size of a broom closet and next to the elevator, noisy. bed was like a cot with a fold up mattress, kept slipping off. other rooms (doubles etc) looked fine. vry nice staff esp Mario.

This place was very nice. The location is awesome the people were very good, room was nice. Don't let the word hostal through you off this is a very nice hotel. We stayed in a lot of scary and crappy 3 star hotels in Europe for 2x this price. This is a great place to stay. For Madrid there is not a whole lot to see as far as touristy stuff. The people […] are nice literally 1000s and 1000s of shoe stores and eateries right at your door step. People stay up til 2-3am every day of the week 1000s of people outside. Lees meer

We stayed in this Hotel 7th -10th July 2011.The Hotel is in an excellent location, the staff were very helpful but bear in mind that this is a 2* Hotel and that is what we got a 2* Room.The room was souless with a not very comfortable bed..We had breakfast in the Hotel one morning at 8E each.A better deal could be found round the corner in one of the […] Plaza's.We ate in the Hotel restuarnt one night, it was excellent, could recomend this. Very central, nice staff. Rooms were quite austere. Air conditioning didn't work, but they changed me to another room the next night. I did not appreciate getting a surprise bill for a breakfast that I thought was included. It's a just-the-basics hotel that is good if it's cheap. However, beware the surprise breakfast bill at the end of your stay.

Location is everything with this hotel. My room was very small with no view at all. But staff are helpful and it is very near to everywhere I wanted to visit. The hotel has metal keys and demands that you hand them in every time you leave. That means that you have to wait for the key on the way in. Can be annoying.

I did not have great expectations for a hotel this cheap. I picked it because of the location, close to the Puerta del Sol. But, I got a very pleasant surprise. My room was small, but I was alone. I did have a small desk on which I could set up my computer. They had free wifi. This was an absolute bargain. We checked in for five days at the end of April '11. I was staying with my son and had booked a twin room. When we arrived, we had been allocated a double. There was a certain amount of fuss, then we were given a first floor twin (111)... the gloomiest room I have ever seen. One tiny window opening into a five storey well. It was inpossible to see the […] sky. The drain down-pipe went past our window, so any bath, shower or flush at any time of day or night hurtled noisily past our window, together with a prolonged and inexplicaple banging like two sticks being bashed together. We slept so badly during the night we always overslept in the morning trying to catch up. The basin in the bathroom had no plug, the shower was a hose-like stream rather than a 'shower'. Tiles were cracked and broken. But... the room was cleaned every day, the location of the hotel was perfect, there are loads of bars and restaurants within a stone's throw (particularly in the Plaza Santa Ana). It's a short walk to Sol, The Prado, Plaza Major etc. All I would say is pack earplugs (or get them from the farmacia like we did) and keep your fingers crossed! Lees meer

Can't beat the price for the location, right in the middle of downtown Madrid, a couple blocks from Puerta del Sol (and metro), a few feet away from popular restaurant and bar plaza. Neighborhood is loud on weekend nights as Madrid never sleeps, but if you want to experience the night life, this is perfect. And if you're jetlagged you'll sleep through […] the noise and wake up and be in a perfect location to be a tourist. Highly recommend. very reasonably priced and close to lively plaza del sol, the palace and the prado gallery and park, hotel was quiet and comfortable, nice clean room, i slept well, decent breakfast, shower was a bit small, very friendly and polite staff,

Hotel Persal in Central Madrid. A ok little hotel in a great location. When you first walk into the room, it's a bit shocking. There is definitely nothing luxurious about the room. It's about as basic a hotel room as you can get. However, this hotel is in a great area of the city and walking distance from all the main tourist sites. The room, especially the bathroom, is VERY clean and the beds were pretty comfortable. […] It's a short walk from the Sol metra station and the Place del Sol. Hopefully you'll be out enjoying the city and not spending alot of time in your room so If you're looking for a Marriott, this isn't it but if you're looking for an economical hotel in the heart of the city, this is a great choice! I was really pleased with this booking. The hotel is showing its age a bit, but it's still a great deal for the price. My room was extremely clean and the location can't be beat. Plus, the English-speaking front desk staff were among the most helpful I encountered in Spain. I have just one complaint: I didn't get much of a wi-fi signal in my room. […] I had to stand near the elevator to get Internet on my floor. Overall, though, I would definitely stay here again. Perfect location, friendly staff and cheap. Unfortunately my room was next to the lift and was very noisy due to the inexistent sound insulation. I would still recommend this hotel, especially to solo travellers but it may be worth asking for a quiet room when doing the booking.

This hotel is in a great location. We walked almost everywhere. There were plenty of great restaurants. The room was simple, but had all the necessities.

This is a great location. The hostal itself was adequate and a good value for the money. We had a room overlooking the courtyard so it was very quiet which was nice. The room was small but still big enough room for suitcases etc. Bathroom was small but had bath toiletries etc., and clean towels daily. Air conditioning worked well. I would caution anyone […] to avoid room 204. When I arrived very early and very tired from the flight, the man at the desk put me in that room. It is horrible!! Small, dark, and dreary. I requested another room and the man at the desk became very "huffy" saying I would have to wait until 1pm or later for a room. When I said Ok I will wait, he changed his tune and in fact, there was another room available that was much more satisfactory. I felt that he was trying to stick me in 204 thinking I would be grateful for any room because I was so tired. The afternoon desk clerk was very nice and very helpful. This hostel is actually a hotel, you get private room with ensuite bathroom. The hotel is clean but the room is quite small, it was definitely big enough for one person. It is very centrally located which is a plus! I walked everywhere. This hotel in in the perfect spot for accessing all of Madrid. Close to Museums, Metro, Plaza de Sol, and shopping. Good restaurants in the area. The staff was outystanding, and the rooms were cool and clean. The street is completely quiet at night, but there´s a pub or three just down the street if you want to cheer Spain to the next World Cup!!

The Hostal Persal is a wonderful hostal in a perfect location. It is situated in Plaza Santa Ana right near Plaza Mayor but in a less touristy area with access to a great jazz club (Cafe Central) and many fine bars and restaurants. Excellent choice! This hotel is in a perfect spot - just a block from Plaza del Sol (a busy marketplace with lots of shops and entertainment), the Sol Metro stop, Plaza Mayor, etc. The staff was very friendly and professional. They did everything they could to make my stay pleasant. This is also a good value. The room was a good size and everything […] was clean. Mind you, it's not the Ritz but for the tourist who just wants a clean and convenient place to sleep, it's great, I would recommend this hotel to anyone on a budget who wants to feel comfortable and safe, but also not have to deal with too much public transportation. Despite central location very quiet room at the back of the hotel allowed for a good night's sleep. Tiny bathroom but what can you expect at this price.

I really enjoyed my stay, the front desk staff were really helpful and my room was lovely and clean.

Given its name (Hostal Persal), we probably should have been better prepared for what it was. This hotel was in a great location and the public spaces were very nice. The room was more like a dorm than a hotel though. It was very sparse, with an old bathroom and a very very hard mattress. However, we stayed there for three days and it grew on us. The […] staff was friendly, the room was on an inner courtyard and was peaceful and quiet, and it was kept extremely clean. Personnel très aimable, petit déjeûner continental bien plus fourni que je ne pensais, proposé dans une grande salle ambiance conviviale.Seul bémol, la chambre occupée était mal insonorisée. A quelques minutes de deux stations de métro.

Hotellet lå meget centralt til stort set alt. Metroen, Sol, Latiner-kvarteret, Museer og hyggelige pladser med en masse cafeer og restauranter. Personalet talte engelsk, var venlige og hjælpsomme. Rene værelser - ikke særlig store. God og hyggelig morgenmad-restaurant. Efter 1 uge dog lidt ensformig.
