Het hotel is landelijk gelegen in een kleine plaats. Geen winkels in de omgeving (behalve een aantal souvenirwinkels). Geschikt als je er slechts één of enkele dagen wilt verblijven. Mooie natuur en goede wandelingen zijn hier zeker te maken. Het hotel kan hier en daar een opknapbeurt gebruiken. Het personeel is zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam.

Het Mercure Cardiff Centre hotel ligt ongeveer 1,5 kilometer buiten het centrum van Cardiff. Het ligt dicht bij de grote wegen van en naar het centrum van Cardiff. Het personeel van het hotel is erg vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Het ontbijtbuffet was steeds erg uitgebreid. De kamer was erg schoon en modern ingericht. Vooral de badkamer was erg netjes en luxueus. Ook was er airconditioning in de kamer aanwezig. Dit hotel voldeet aan al mijn verwachtingen en overtrof deze zelfs. Ik kan dit hotel erg aanraden.

We waren met 14 personen: 13 dames en de buschauffeur. We waren enorm onder de indruk toen we de oprijlaan opreden............ en we bléven onder de indruk. Het was super! Het is tevens een enorm goede uitvalsbasis wanneer je Bath, Bristol en de Cotswolds wil gaan bezoeken. Ook is dit een prachtige omgeving voor wandelaars en natuurliefhebbers. Goede keuken; geweldig ontbijt en vooral ook veel rust. Veel waarde voor je geld! Warm aanbevolen door mijn groep. Groetjes, Carina Hensgens

Ligging.
The Washington ligt handig vlak bij de luchthaven, in het hartje van Bristol, op loopafstand van Victoria Rooms, BBC Bristol en Stadsmuseum en kunstgalerie van Bristol. In de buurt liggen ook Universiteit van Bristol en Cabot Tower.
Hotelvoorzieningen.
In alle openbare ruimtes kan je tegen betaling de draadloze internetverbinding gebruiken. Extra voorzieningen zijn onder andere een wasserij, beveiligde parkeerplaatsen en een 24-uurse roomservice. Parkeren op locatie is mogelijk tegen betaling.
Hotelkamers.
Elke kamer biedt uitzicht op de stad. The Washington heeft 46 kamers met een koffiezetapparaat/waterkoker en een föhn. Een snelle draadloze internetverbinding is bij betaling beschikbaar. Elke kamer heeft een flatscreen televisie met kanalen via digitale ontvanger.
Bovendien kun je op verzoek gebruikmaken van voorzieningen zoals een strijkplank/strijkijzer en een telefonische wekdienst. Een huishoudservice is dagelijks beschikbaar. Op de kamers van The Washington mag niet worden gerookt.

ligt in een rustige straat maar vlakbij het bruisende stadsgedeelte Clifton. Goed bereikbaar met openbaar vervoer. Familiaire sfeer, knusse kamers....een echte aanrader als je in Bristol verblijft.

Good location and helpful staff, who are on duty day and night.Excellent breakfast and overall good value for money. The 2 rooms that I saw were very much in need of refurbishment as were the passageways and stairs etc. But hey - where else can you get a cheap non-ensuite room ? A real bonus when you are on a budget!

We were disappointed with the size and decor of our room - it was still in the 1970's. The bathroom facilities were basic and the shower only facility still had a shower curtain not a screen. (It was clean though). Our main complaint was the fact that the heating was on ALL NIGHT for both nights of our stay and we were told it went off at 9PM. Our radiator […] could not be turned off individually and we found it extremely uncomfortable and also not very 'green'. First night was very cold as management think mid-October is too early to put on heating. On complaining they supplied a fan heater. Sunday morning no hot water as boiler had failed. This was rectified later in the day. On the positive side the breakfast is good, the staff helpful & friendly and the price reasonable.

Stay was disappointing in comparison to a previous one as the room was not as nice/layout wise, I think it used to be a smoking room and the closest bathroom did not have a shower. Having said that it was still very comfortable, good fascilities, really friendly staff, and fantastic breakfast so I would still recommend it to anybody as a budget hotel […] in a lovely convenient location. Great hotel for the price, really great breakfast included, rooms had all the facilities I needed and everything was clean. Only negative was that the walls were all thin, and when the person in the rooms above/beside me watched tv, woke up early, or used their taps it would wake me up. Once I had some ear plugs it was fine!

Good facilities (internet etc.), excellent breakfast. Hotel is in reasonable condition, what I would expect for the money. Ceiling paint in bedroom was bit flaky, but other than that the room was quite nice. Nice area and excellent location for city centre & water front.

The hotel is old but our room was very clean. We had a car and was suppose to have parking but there wasn't any available. It was a major problem trying to find a spot to park. If you are after a reasonably priced room and not too fussy about the quality of the paintwork this is a good bet. If you are in Clifton you should be out enjoying the location anyway!

we stay at the Washington regularly. it is convenient and reasonable and has a great breakfast this time we had room 51 and the bed was seriously uncomfortable. it really should be ditched there were no bedside tables and no shower curtain the first night. the Washington hotel is warm and friendly if you need somewhere very reasonable to stay it's great it is also dog friendly parking is an issue in clifton and this time the car park was shut
"Nice location, POOR bathroom."
The overall was ok. The door off the hotel room was rickety. The bathroom is communal, wish was kind of a shock. The blankets were just some layers. Breakfast was fine, but there is half buffet half service, wish was kind of confusing. The overall comfort was terrible. But the location was excellent!

Some things about this hotel are marvellous: the staff, the pillows, the scrambled eggs for breakfast and it was in the right location for us. but our room was on the small side, and could have done with a fresh coat of paint. A very good breakfast included in the price is unusual these days. The staff are very friendly & helpful. The heating is inadequate at times & in some parts of the hotel. The water in the shower at busy times could go from ice cold to scalding hot in seconds.

This is a exceptionally friendly hotel. We had a really nice doubleroom looking out onto a quiet courtyard with a blackbird singing in it. The breakfast spoils you for choice and its free. Parking was very good for such a central location. Staff at check in and breakfast helpful and efficient. Quality of breakfast was much better than expected with various options available. The main drawback of this hotel however is the poor state of repair. The clue to this hotel is in the fact that the front step is at least a foot high. Maybe a low budget hotel but the rooms definately reflected the price although saying that I have stayed in far superior rooms in Blackpool for less. Desperately in need of refurbishment ( Light fittings in room were broken and window frames dropping to pieces, room very small and bedding faded); also waited 3 quarters of a hour for breakfast which […] was very basic 1 rasher bacon, 1 sausage etc. Staff did apologise for wait and stated they were short staffed but advertised croissants only came out in fours and were grabbed by nearest diners and plate not refilled the whole time in the dining room. Hotellin sijainti sopi meille mainiosti. Palvelu oli erinomaista: aamiainen oli runsas ja monipuolinen, kahvi ja tee kaadettiin kuppiin, kananmunat paistettiin prikulleen toivotunlaisiksi. Tout était très bien: propre, café, thé et fruits disponibles dans la chambre, petit-déjeuner anglais copieux, personnel aimable, quartier calme et chic, et pourtant à deux pas de rues commerçantes.

Could certainly do with a loving repairman and a lick of paint. Personally I do not like add-ons (parking, wifi). Breakfast superb, all staff friendly and professional. Showers need de-calcifying!!
