Rooms are very small but clean. Breakfast is typical European breakfast. Very good location for shopping, restraunants and short walk to main train station

Aircondition was complicated to understand and did not find a manual. Design and style of room very nice, lobby area pretty ordinary

I find this to be a great place to stay - it is reasonably priced (at least for Zurich), clean, and in great location for walking through the city. Wooden floors in rooms made things a little noisy. But otherwise fine. Room stylish. Breakfast good

Really nice place to stay. Near to central station and the most things. A lot of restaurants. Stores around. A bit noise but i recomend!

Weekend stay as a couple. Very pleased with hotel, it's service and design of the room. Car park round the corner.

For a basic hotel, this will do the trick. The location is excellent, a few blocks from the main train station, but one block off of the main roads so you don't hear the traffic at night. The beds were plush and the room nice and clean, but minimal. The only negative was not having internet in the room.

I and my family were very happy with the location ref station. The hotel was well managed with very helpful staff. Just one problem I left a black jumper with white line on shelf in room 106. Any chance of having it back?...I will pay the cost of packaging and post. Await advice.

The hotel rooms were excellent. It may have been a difficult weekend but the front of house staff were quite gruff and unwelcoming. I had a friend with mobility issues who had found the short walk from the station quite arduous (particularly with our luggage) and we needed a taxi back to the station in the early morning. Despite my explaining why we […] needed a taxi for such a short distance, and that we would tip a taxi driver generously for his trouble, the front of house person was almost scoffing in his reply: just walk, it's short! Access by car, access to Zurich on foot. Simply the Best position and a food hotel. What more can you wish for?

Relatively central location, easy accessible from Railway station. Strange interior of room, ok personell, rather simple breakfast, quite a few hotels in the area, wouldn´t pick this one the next time though

I was surprised to see how close it was to the train station which is crucial for a businessman or tourist.

Although the neighborhood is on the edge of sketchy (we were propositioned by the hookers down the street two nights in a row), the hotel was clean and modern and well priced. It is also a very brief walk to most locations of interest to tourists. I would stay there again.

Staff was unfriendly. It was X'mas day when we checked-in and we wished her and did not say a word but give off a 'forcedl' smile. Toiletries like shampoo were not replenish daily. We were given only one tiny bottle on first day of check-in and that's it, taking into consideration that there were three of us sharing the room despite paying extra CHF60+ […] for extra person. At breakfast, coffee was served by the staff. So, when ask for second cup of coffee, they were unhappy. Wi-fi was not available anywhere in the hotel unless you pay CHF10 for half hour. I've stayed in this neighborhood previously at a different hotel - would stay at the Ruetli again. Very satisfied - can't beat the price for the cleanliness & location,

I travel for pleasure a lot. This 50-year old single gal from Upper West Side of Manhattan was just looking for a reasonable and convenient hotel in Zurich for a 4-day Thanksgiving weekend 2011. I was amazed at how convenient this hotel was to everything. I actually timed how long it took me to get from Airport landing, train, Hauptbanhof, walk to hotel, […] and be ready to check in. I couldn't believe how convenient it all was, going and coming. Anything I did, I knew how simple it would be to merely cross the river and be back at the hotel in no time. Usually you DON'T want to stay near a European train station neighborhood, but this is an absolute exception. The "Coop" food store is also nearby. The Swiss National Museum was a quick walk. Going back to the Rail station rear side to join a tram tour of the city was a quick walk. Going shopping the length of Banhofstrasse (often) was, each time, a quick walk to it or home from any one of the sites you'll be wanting to see. Generally, Zurich is just a pedestrian and ultimately manageable city. But I researched finding a very inexpensive hotel for the 3 nights I'd need one over Thanksgiving. Others at this price (and even more) did NOT have private bathroom, did NOT include breakfast, were NOT as close into the places you'd want to be. I also had a personal Nespresso pod coffee maker in my room with two kinds of pod coffee. (Loved it!) Also had an amazing glass-in shower stall (not the typical Euro-style drafty one). People I tell how much I got this hotel for and that I got it on Hotels.com were very impressed. I didn't want or need Internet (for a charge), although I did have my iPad2 with me, but they do supply a keyboard and there's an amazing flat-screen TV in each room cantilevered out from a wall over the desk which can be your monitor. There were the standard International Herald Tribunes each day, planted by the elevators and I was able to catch up on news that way too, along with all the BBC channels on TV. Lees meer

The Hotel Ruetli Zurich is located in the Old Town area. Very easy to located. As a single female traveling alone, I felt very safe in this location. They featured an excellent breakfast buffet, very friendly staff members. Comfortable bed. Small shower. Clean room and bathroom. It was warm in the room and the AC Heat unit was hard to operate. Location is excellent! Tram system is right round the corner and gets you anywhere. Don't spend the $60 taxi fair to the airport. Take #10 tram for $6 each. So easy. We felt very comfortable here. Theonly night we had any noise from the pub across the street was a Saturday night. All other nights were very quiet.

Clean, well maintained facility. Unusual bathroom (glass walls) but otherwise functional. Efficient but disspirited staff. On-site breakfast. Very convenient to local restaurants, train station.

Very convenient for Hauptbahnhof, shops and old town. We had a city room which was large and comfortable & very clean. Breakfast was good with a nice selection and excellent service. Good location, a short 5-10 mins walk to the hotel. Comfortable rooms especially its beds. Breakfast could do with some improvement, but its free, so no complains.

Close to train station, but watch out for the taxi drivers they would not take us to the hotel because it was too close but they would not give us directions.

This hotel is very well located,near to main railway station, pubs, clubs and many places to eat.The hotel staff were very helpful. I will stay here again if in zurich.

We needed a place to stay before our early flight out of Zurich. This hotel is about 5 minutes from the train station. There are plenty of bars and restaurants nearby but noise was not a problem. Breakfast was just ok. It was a good value for the price.

Hotel Ruetli is a nice little hotel with a great location...just a 10 minute walk from the train station. It is very close to the main bar/restaurant/shopping street so it is very convenient. The main reason for choosing this hotel was the fact that it had air conditioning which to my dismay, my room did not have (RM 415)! Luckily, it was a cool evening […] and the windows in the room opened but you have to put up with the noise from the late night party revelers. Also, the graffiti room décor was a little strange but I was only in the room a few hours so I didn’t really care. Breakfast was adequate but nothing special which was fine with me because I prefer to have an espresso and a brioche at a local café over looking the waterfront than a hotel breakfast buffet. The hotel was perfectly located just a 5 minute walk from the central train station. The staff was very helpful and although located on a street with some bars, even with my window open I was not disturbed during the night with street noise. I will stay again on my next trip to Zurich!

Nice hotel in good city centre location. Marks off for lack of free wifi in rooms.

It will be good if some channels are free to watch in Television and free internet. Or can be included these cost in the rates.

A good clean well appointed hotel within easy walking distance from main Zurich Train Station nd handy to university, river, lake and other attractions. Only minor quibble was the hotel information booklet in the room was all in German with no English translation, but that aside, the place was more than adequate for a stay in Zurich. Exceeded our expectations. Large updated room with comfortable bed. Breakfast excellent, a special bargain given the cost of everything in Switz. Hotel rated 3 stars with 4 star comfort but 3 star price. Would definitely stay their again.

The main advantage of this hotel is being so close to the main train station and at a reasonable price for Zurich. It is very clean and the room very comfortable but I was not able to sleep all night because of the very noisy trams , buses and trolleys going by every five minutes all night.

There was a lot of restaruants and shopping within walking distance of the hotel. It was also a short walk to the train station. The staff was very helpful booking day trips into the countryside/Alps for us.

I love love love this hotel. It is always a little nerve-wracking to book a hotel blindly, especially in a country where you don't speak the language. But this was a big big win! It is a quick five minute walk over the river and has plenty of restaurants and nightlife in the area. I know that might be a negative if you're looking for quiet Swiss solitude, […] but despite boisterous bar patrons singing late into the night, I slept fine, and it was fun to be near the action. Zurich's downtown area is compact, so this hotel location isn't exactly exclusive, there are plenty of places that are equally convenient, but this place is recently updated, with stylish looking rooms, even when it is just a single bed. The "Central" transit terminal is right outside, so if you want to venture on the public transit, there are several lines that come through there. The internet is pricy - like most places in Switzerland, but the breakfast is included and is really generous - there is even prosecco!! I mean who DOESN'T want that when on vacation. First, I got a fairly good rate. The hotel is centrally and conveniently located - very close to the Old Town and the Main Train Station. The day time receptionist was very nice, patient and helpful. The breakfast buffet was really a welcome and very good. Will definitely stay there again.

Hotel has been recently remodeled and rooms are very contemporary with large bathroom (at least in our room). Rooms have AC so windows can be closed at night eliminating all street noise. Totally convenient to Zurich main train station and right at the north end of the old town making the river and lake an easy walk. I booked this hotel after looking through reviews and comparing prices, and Hotel Ruetli is definitely a great value. The location is perfect, quick walk from the main train station and center of town for shopping, sightseeing, etc. I stayed in a city room and it was very comfortable; nice bed, spacious bathroom, minibar and nespresso machine. I only […] wish that the internet was included in the rate. The breakfast was simple but very tasty. All of the staff members were friendly and willing to help with questions about the area. The Hotel Rütli is located a few short feet from Central at the entrance to Old Town. The location is great for exploring, as the nearby tram stop has several lines that cross here. The hotel is also less than a 5 minute walk from the Zurich Hauptbahnhof (main train station), again making this an extremely convenient location in the heart of the city. The […] hotel was renovated in 2010 and the rooms are very nice and modern, with many of the amenities you'd want, including flat screen TVs and private bathrooms. Another nice thing is that the room windows open completely, which is great for when the weather is nice. There is also a free-to-use computer with internet access located in the lobby near the fireplace. The staff was very nice and accommodating. They allowed me to check my bags until my room was ready, and even prepared my room early so I could check in after a red-eye flight from NY. The hotel offers a small continental breakfast each morning with basic foods: breads, meats, cereals & granola, yogurt, etc. Nothing outstanding, but nice nonetheless. There are a few things that I would have to advise other travelers of, however: (1) You will hear guest in other rooms in the hotel, in particular if a chair is moved or a door opened or closed. These noises were frequent and much louder than you may normally expect to hear in a hotel. For me, there were far too many other guests up at all hours, making sleep at times difficult; (2) the heating/cooling unit in the room was either too difficult for me to figure out, or outright broken. I could never get it to work, but thankfully the weather was cool and I was able to regulate the temperature by opening or closing windows. (3) While the location is outstanding, be advised that there is a slightly seedy element at night just a few blocks up the street to the East (away from the Central tram stop). Can't beat the location 3 short blocks from Zuirch main station, around the corner from the Central tram stop. Some have complained about the noise, I stayed in a city room on the 4th floor and didn't hear any kind of street noise. The 4th floor city room on the end is interesting, it features three skylights (in place of windows) that frame one of […] the Zurich steeples exactly -- refresh change from standard hotel setup. Staff was friendly and efficient, breakfast was ample and tasty, the coffee was great. Wouldn't come just for the breakfast but was a nice bonus on the room.
