The Royal Playa del Carmen All Inclusive Spa & Resort in Playa del Carmen

The foods except the asian were awesome!! You can't get the level of foods from the other all inclusive hotels around there. Services are okay, some mexican workers are polite others don't care about the customer. The hotel is not as big as the other hotels in playacar area, it is cozy atmosphere a little bit. Do not get hotel rooms 140- 146 or 147, […] those are facing on the street and they can see the room. Also, many mosquitos you encounter on the 1st floor. I told them to change the room to 145 to 824, is on the 3rd floor of the further north building. no mosquitos very quite. I reserved an ocean view junior sweet or something, not that expensive one. I might go back to the hotel because of the foods (Spanish retaurantes on the beach (pelicano & tapas) were the best of all, mexican french was good, way better than other all inclusive hotels, horrible at the asian restaurante.) lots of gringos down there as well as some europeans. The Royal Hotel was an amazing experience. The hotel was clean, food was fresh, service was helpful. The faciliaties allowed you not to venture off the property although if you did you were very close to 5th avenue where there is a lot going on.

It was good, but I don't think I'd go back (at least on an "All-Inclusive" type of deal), and here's why in a nutshell: The food in an All-Inclusive package is usually mediocre and this resort was no exception. Also, to be fair, this is really a nice "resort" not a "hotel" and is very "resort-like" and fancy (in a resort "cafeteria--kind-of-way"). […] It's also good for couples or singles who wish to be left alone. Otherwise, here's how I see things: Pros: * Very nice, friendly and helpful staff. Top-notch. * Very nice and well-appointed rooms, especially for that part of the world. * Fantastic location, right on 5th Ave. but away from all the noise. * My massage at the spa was awesome and reasonably priced. * Drinks were good and plentiful. People come around to the beach area constantly offering drinks. * Loved that room service was included in the All-Inclusive plan. * Loved the "Amazon" shower-head in the shower. * Loved the "hot tub bath" in the room. * Bed was, for this part of the world, quite comfortable. * Housekeeping was well-done and trustworthy. * I cannot say enough nice things about the staff. Cons: * All-Inclusive is great for drinks, lousy for food since the food is generally unimpressive. Also the atmosphere at the restraints on site is unimpressive. * Price is on the VERY high end (perhaps the highest!) for Playa del Carmen. I've stayed in PdC for a lot less money and had just as nice a stay (enjoyed better food at local restaurants with better atomosphere, and still got served drinks on the beach at Mamitas! Admittedly, the rooms were not as nice though). * Room service, while included, was pretty limited and not consistent (some nights the food was cold). * For the hefty price, they should include airport transfers. * The "hot tub" off the main pool is like a luke-warm bath. We went for New Years, so a nice hot tub would have been appreciated ... the hot tub in the spa (which is extra) is fantastically hot, however. * No food service on the be Lees meer

Great place! Children free, great activities such as yoga, jetski, diving, sun bathing. Great service and great location. Want to go back now!

The hotel is very nice. Wait on upgrading until you arrive. The only improvement needed is the food. It was average.

Absolutely above all expectations. Had a great time!! Food is real good and they have ALL brands of alcohol including the best. If you want to have a great time and pay a good price, should choose this hotel.

The facility and staff make this place. Presentation is everything here and very well done.

Best vacation we ever had. From the time we arrived we were well taken care of. The room and the grounds were absolutely beautiful and the staff was so nice it made it difficult to come home. We would highly recomend this resort to everyone.

I stayed at the hotel a couple of years ago, and since I couldn't wait to go back. as a frequent traveler, I have never enjoyed a hotel as much as this one. We are primarily cruisers but decided to try an all-inclusive this time. This was better than a cruise in many ways, way more spacious and open, huge pools, great restaurants (italian, french, asian, steak, etc), a great Mexican town full of fun places to eat and hang out with bands, great bartenders, very inexpensive souvenir and craft stands, etc. […] Best of all the beach is there 24x7 and the beach chairs have a flag you put up when you want a nice free smoothie. There was no casino around though, if that's important to you. Another way that we saved money, and there was no shortage of fun with the activities at the pool and other stuff going on in the surrounding area. We highly recommend this resort. most all inclusives you have to work hard to get a drink but we had no problem at all no matter where we were, and we drink our share for sure. it was incredible receiving that invoice at the end with the 'zero balance'! it was our 30th anniversary and they beautifully decorated our room/bed with rose pedals, towel animals and a bottle of champagne and cake for no extra charge! it was quite elaborate, wow. the best thing for us was that it was an adult place (the sister resort next door does allow kids) so we didn't have people's kids running wild, taking over the hot tub, etc. big thumbs up to The Royal! We weren't very happy the first night having to stay accross the st. after a long day of travling,but I must say that once we were in the Royal they had given us a up graded room which was beautful, we knew that the people who work at the Royal are very pleasent and can't do enough for you. Hotel was beautiful, clean and easy to get around. Service was superior. Pool and Beach were amazing, Extra detail was put into everything. Food was good with many options to choose from. You were treated like royalty and you could tell they wanted you to enjoy yourselves at every moment! 5th Ave Playa Del Carmen shops, restaurants, bars and night life […] are right outside your door, yet beach and hotel feel totally secluded, quiet, and calm. Stayed at The Royal Playa Del Carmen 26/5/10-6/6/10 & had a fabulous time. My wife & myself went to celebrate our wedding anniversary & my 60th birthday. On arrival we were greeted with cold towels & champagne. When we got to our room there was an anniversary cake & a bottle of champagne waiting for us! The hotel is absolutely fantastic. The standard […] of accomodation was 1st class. The food absolutely superb & the staff were fantastic, We were made so welcome-nothing was too much trouble. Theres 8 fantastic restaurants to choose from-each one was fab. We spent a lot of time in the El Mediterraneo Restaurant by the smaller pool as it was quieter there. The staff in El Mediterraneo were so lovely-especially Fransisco, Vital & Erick. They made our stay very special Felipe the manager was really nice to us. On the day of my birthday they brought a cake to our table & all sang Happy Birthday to me. It was so nice of them. Special thanks to Peter the chef for the cake. Also Maggy the bar waitress at the small pool was fantastic-she does a great job & has a wonderful bubbly personality, just what you need on holiday. We would have preferred to have had parasols by the loungers at the pool so that you can get shade when you need it. The Name Royal is the most perfect name for this hotel, because we were truely treated like Royality. From the minute we arrived until the minute we departed we were catered to. The Hotel itself was outstanding in every way from the service to the beautiful beach. The waitress ONE was our favorite she gave us outstanding service everytime. We wanted […] to take her home with us. We stayed at the Royal for 10 days and didn't want to leave we were having so much fun!!! My husband and I were in need of a weekend with time for reading, realaxing, walking on the beach and swimming without any hassels. We went on Hotels.com and found The Royal in Playa del Carmen that was all inclusive on the beach. The rate was great and the weekend was fabulous! We were very impressed with the staff at the hotel and delighted with the […] services. We upgraded to an ocean view room,which was wonderful and gave us more privedleges, such as eating at the Chef's Plate which is the gourmet restaurant in the hotel. We had wonderful meals at all of the restaurants in loved the Asiana. The beach and water were beautiful with attendents taking care of every need. The rooms were extremely quite and very comfortable. They have a lot of activities included in the all inclusive including yoga. We will definitley go back! Lees meer

Excellente prestation, service de conciergerie très compétent, restaurants excellents, possibilité d'accès aux restaurants du "Gran Real" mitoyen, plage ok, service de boissons "au matelas", chambres impeccables, bref ... 20/20

Es un buen hotel, sin embargo son muy inoportunos para entrar a las habitaciones y no tienen ni una bebida de la linea coca cola.

No soy de muchas palabras. Solo quiero decir q despues de haberte hospedado em este hotel, dificilmente quedaras satisfecho con otro hotel. Todo es de lo mejor: el servicio, las instalaciones, la comida. En fin, todo ! Muy feliz con mi estancia en este hotel :D

Este hotel es muy bonito. Típico complejo turístico muy céntrico e ideal para no tener que coger taxis arriba y abajo. Yo estuve 11 días y tuve que cambiar de habitación porque por la mañana se filtraba el olor de la cocina a través del aire acondicionado. En la habitación nueva eso ya no pasaba. Es un hotel con todo lujo de detalles y donde quiero […] resaltar la cocina de casi todos los restaurantes (creo que tiene 10). Mantener la dieta aquí es imposible. Una de las pegas de este hotel es que está lleno de Americanos y cada día hay una o dos bodas por tanto la tequilería se llena de Americanos "alegres" que tienen su gracia pero se hecharia de menos algun que otro europeo. A pesar de ser un hotel de 5* y pagar por ello, la calidad del servicio no está a la altura. El hotel está situado en pleno Playa del Carmen y hace que sea muy ruidoso. Todos los días tienen bodas así que siempre hay alguna zona o restaurante por la que no puedes pasar. Está lleno de norte americanos y casi toda la información la dan en inglés.
