Het hotel is gewoon goed en voldeed volledig aan onze verwachtingen en ligt zeer centraal bij Piazza Barberini (metrohalte), dichtbij de Trevifontein en de Spaanse Trappen.

Een prima hotel om te verblijven. Wij hebben hier drie nachten geslapen tijdens een stedentrip. Het hotel bevindt zich echt op steenworp afstand van het metrostation, maar lopen is goed te doen. Binnen 10 min. ben je bij de Trevi-fontein. e.d. Het personeel is erg aardig en behulpzaam. Kamers zijn prima verzorgd met goede badkamer. Je slaapt wel aan […] een drukke straat waar ook bussen door heen rijden. Dit zorgt voor enige overlast. Maar dit was voor ons niet zo storend. Echt een prima verblijfplaats! Lees meer

Great hotel in a great location

The hotel rooms were not clean, breakfast was extremely poor, and the road noise at night-time was unbearable, buses on cobble stones..Ahh. Don't stay here, the staff were friendly and helpful though.

Great for what you pay for and superb coffee with buffet breakfast every morn!

Small cosy hotel with a good location. No luxury but you get a lot for the money and asimple breakfast included. small rooms.

the neighborhood around L'Hotel Cinquantatre was quite surprisingly busy. my wife and i were on our honeymoon and we were very pleased with the friendliness of the staff and quick walk to the metro. it's also nice to be a 15 minute walk to Spanish Steps and Fontana di Trevi. we were least satisfied with the amount of noise that seemed to start around […] 630 or 7 a.m. not sure if it was the B&B next door, rattling pipes or a fan door flapping but it was persistant and annoying. we stayed on the first floor so i'm not sure if you could hear it elsewhere. but overall our experience was enjoyable and L'Hotel staff was perfect. Hotel is well located with good prices. Breakfast was great, and staff really helpful. Rooms weren't great quality, but for a site-seeing holiday it suited us fine.

I booked this hotel after weeks of searching hotels in Rome for a honeymoon. We were taking a cruise from the port and decided to stay a few days in Rome first. I emailed this hotel a few times with questions about sights and arriving before check-in and they always answered back in under 24 hours. We arrived at the hotel at 10am (they said in an […] email they would hold the bags) but they did one better, they had a room ready for us since I advised thme we were coming in early! We couldn't have been more pleased! The young man at the front was great! He gave us a map and circled main hightlights and others and highlighted great food places too. Always answered our questions on directions as well. The location of the hotel is great! We walked everywhere to everything. We took the Metro to the Vatican. The Metro station is just 500 feet down the road. Yes, the room was smaller than here in America, but if you have ever stayed in any European hotel, it was normal size. TV was small but who cares! You are in Rome and should be sight seeing! No sewer smell in Room 402. Looked for mold like some reviews stated and found a speck in the caulking below the shower. I found more at the Del Mar Resort in San Diego. All in all, a great experience and would stay again! Lees meer

The hotel was very small, yet not in a charming way. The facility seemed tired and in need of a redo. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was complementary and fairly sparse. Rooms are small. Elevator even smaller. Breakfast is lite but the coffee/cappuccino is great. Would likely try another place close by, but this wasn't bad by any means. Front desk staff was helpful and spoke very good english.

Though Close to all sight seeing possibilities, i Found the Hotel Staff often uninformed and each desk clerk, seemed to follow different Rules. The Room was minimally cleaned, with Large amounts of dust underneath the bed. Wireless Internet, though offered, was Close to non exsistant.

We were a little apprehensive after reading the mixed reviews on the hotel but our experience was excellent. The hotel and rooms are small but clean and charming, and more than sufficient for our travel needs. The hotel is located within walking distance of many must-see places in Rome as well as reasonably priced restaurants. The staff were pleasant […] and helpful and reasonably fluent in English. Given all of the positives of the hotel, the price for the room was exceptional. The only negative is that they did not have wi-fi, and their hot spot was not always working, so we had to hook up the ethernet cable directly to our computers -- this was a small inconvenience. Stayed at the hotel this week and the location was outstanding but the installations were very old, it gives you the feeling it is not clean.

Lovely little hotel with friendly helpful staff. Excellent location in a quieter part of Rome, 5 minutes walk from the Trevi Fountain or Spanish Steps. Room was excellent size but a little worn, the bed was comfy and the room was cleaned every day. The continental breakfast is severed on the roof terrace at which is lovely. The good: Just half a block away from the Metro, this hotel is really convenient. For 1 Euro, you can get to places like the Colosseum & Vatican city. When we got there, the host helped mapped out our 3 days, he was super helpful (long hair, retainers & pretty good English). We were able to hit 7-8 attractions like the Fountain of Trevi, Roman Forums […] and Spanish steps.. it was all within walking distance that flowed pretty easily because there were signs leading you from one place to the next.. it was a tiring walk though. Took us about 2 hours to go through it... and we didn't even stay to take that many pictures! They also have airport shuttle service (we paid 15 Euros/person). The bad: We didn't encounter any smelly sewage issues, but the hotel is reallllllly old. The elevator holds 2 people max. The locks on the doors still uses reg keys, not card keys. Fixtures were dangling... there was rust on the pipes. Tiny tv, with no English channels. The wifi only works on the bottom floor inside a room with vending machines (but they do have a desktop for internet use for free), The breakfast consists of croissant, pastries and juices only (no hot food). There were mosquitos in the room.. and we know they don't change the bedsheets cause we killed a mosquito on the bed and the blood stain stayed on the sheets all 3 days. Overall, if you're will to sacrifice comfort for convenience at a cheaper price, this is the hotel for you. Lees meer

We arrived and were over charged for the transfer we had previosly booked through hotels 4 u! We paid for a superior room and were given a standard room with a bed that was completely un level and the foot was significantly higher than the head. Reception 'reservations manager' had a very sarcastic manner. We arrived back one evening and found the reception […] door open, no receptionist but they had left our room Key on the desk for anyone to take. We left and realised once home that we had left my fiance's shorts. I emailed the hotel and was told they had them but would only post them to us if I emailed my credit card details to cover the cost! Value for money I would say this hotel is below average and as for a welcome gift that was listed on our booking? Well they knew nothing about it! I would not recommend this hotel to anyone unless they are looking for an overpriced dated hotel. The only good thing was the location and the kind breakfast waitress! Lees meer

Good Points - 1. Reception service was good, very friendly and warm, although there's a need to speak to them slowly in English, otherwise they could give you the wrong information, which was what happened to me. 2. Bed was comfortable, room was large. We were given a room with balcony, really beautiful room on the 5th floor. 3. Breakfast was delicious […] and indeed, a great way to start of the day for me and my family. Just love those croissants! =D 4. Conveniently located, near the Metro station Barberini. Grocery store is about 5 mins walk away. 5. Value for money! Bad Points - 1. Internet access only available at the lobby and not in rooms. Spent 3 nights here and the staff were freindly and the air con was good. However we paid for a 'superior' room, given what we had I would hate to see a standrad room (or maybe we got a standard and paid extra for nothing?) Also our booking said a welcome gift on arrival which we didn't get, was told that was due to not booking directly with them. The […] room was tiny and a bit shabby. The toilet and shower weren't overly clean, there were mould spots on that walls near the shower. Also the breakfast wasn't great, just croissants and normal sliced white bread and canned pineapple on 1 day. I would not stay here again. Lees meer

We were looking for a centrally located hotel, reasonably priced for our 7 day stay in Rome. We selected this hotel after reading all of the reviews, having no other way to judge the quality. I am writing this review because I want to express my satisfaction with the hotel and also to confirm the accuracy of the reviews I read regarding this hotel. […] As expected, the room was small as was the elevator. The room was clean, the beds were firm and comfortable, the towels were fresh daily and a hair dryer and toitleries were provided. I enjoyed the two large windows which opened to the outside and provided fresh air and a view. The air conditioner worked well and we were able to adjust the temp to our liking in our room. We were pleasantly suprised to find a high speed computer with free internet available at all times along with a vending machine with water, soda and juice. The roof top deck was pleasant and nice with continental breakfast and service included. The staff manned the front desk 24 hrs, spoke Engish and were helpful with directions, suggestions and recommendations. They graciously made calls for us to schedule tours, transportation and inquiries. The one complaint I am compelled to mention, is a mild sewer odor that came from the drain in the shower. This was not a constant, rather intermitent and we dealt with it by keeping the bathroom door closed at night and the window open during the day. This was quite minor and would not stop me from using this hotel again in the future. Lees meer

L' Hotel Cinquantatre was surprisingly small but not unpleasant. When I say small I mean small in every way from hallways and elevators and stairways to rooms. I am a normal size person but a very large person would have a great deal of trouble, especially with the elevator. The other negative was the lack of internet. There was no wi fi and the only […] internet access was from a community computer in a lounge area. The computer was not very modern but was serviceable. Since I was in Rome I did not intend to spend much time in the room so it was adequate but small. Overall I would not hesitate to stay there again but for the size and the amenities I felt it was a bit over priced. For a room of this size in the US you would not expect to pay even half the price. Our hotel was in an excellent location - close to all the major sites of Rome. Almost everything was in walking distance, and we were steps away from a Metro stop. Our room was a classically small European hotel room but was clean and comfortable. Our only comment was the shower stall was a little cramped (although not unexpected) and there were absolutely […] no English language TV channels - not even BBC or a CSPAN type channel. I booked this hotel a few days before our stay and thought I was getting a good deal for a 3-star hotel. Based on the somewhat positive reviews as well, thought it would be at least decent enough for 3 nights. Boy was I wrong. First issue was the building exterior was so disgusting that I knew immediately that once in our room, it would be bad as well. […] Our room had dirty linens, sheets and the chair covering was stained as well. Bathroom was pretty clean with the exception of the toliet flush button. Definitely had not been wiped. There was a leak in the air conditioner that was damaging the hardwood floor and there looked like mold could have been growing there. Overall, we stayed in the room for less than an hour before booking another hotel and moving there. Some of the reviews here make the place seem decent and believe me, it is not. When we arrived at the hotel we were quite surprised by the size of the hotel and the small elevator which could only accomodate 1 person and a luggage. We had a really good experience. With only two days to spend the front desk sent us out with a map highlighted with a great walking tour and a few suggestions. We feel that we were able to make the most of our couple of days. The only "problem" i see with the hotel is that Italian standards aren't American standards. Small, anonymous hotel ideally located near Piazza Berberini. Most attractions can easily be reached by foot or public transportation. Adequate room standard and size. Tasty continental breakfast in a small "restaurant" with terrace at the top floor.

The Hotel Cinquantatre was reasonably priced, centrally located, conveniently accessible, and the service was prompt, courteous, as well as helpful. The hotel was very small, packed into a vetical building with 14 units, rooftop breakfast (very limited but quick and easy), and neat, clean small rooms with a balcony and day bed. The hotel room was beautiful and charming, and the staff were excellent. Only problem is that the rooms are not very quiet as they get a lot of noise from the street.

We had a great stay at L'Hotel Cinquantatre. It was in an incredible location and just a short walk from the Metro. The staff was nice and very helpful. They offered restaurant recommendations and made museum reservations for us. The hotel just has about 15 rooms. Our room was small but had all that we needed. The room even contained a mini fridge and […] safe. The bathroom was small and clean but had an odor of mildew after showers were taken. The hotel had a computer with internet that was free to use which was an added bonus. The breakfast at the hotel was simple containing breads, cheese, croissants, crackers, cookies, milk, juice, cereal, coffees, teas. Great find! Lees meer

No complaints at all: the service was great, the location is very close to the Metro and many great places to eat, as well as being walking distance to the sights of Rome. Would definitely stay again!

The hotel was one block from the Metro and across the street from the bus stops. Lots of restaurants close by. The staff was very friendly and spoke English. I would stay there again if in Rome.

Room was small as expected but clean and quiet. Bathroom is split - shower and sink and toilet and bidet, but in very nice condition. Only small individual packet of bath gel provided, hardly enough - had to ration it. Towels could also be better. As expected for small hotels in Rome, elevator is so small - barely big enough for 1 person- that it's […] less hassle to carry your bags up the stairs, as long as one can manage it. Breakfast is served on the small terrace/ top floor (6th) and is pleasant and average (pastries/cereal) by a very friendly lady. It is centrally located within walking distance to the Trevi Fountain and Borghese Gallery, as well as the Spanish Steps. this was a very nice hotel located only a 2 min walk from the barberini metro station. we chose this hotel for it's location to the metro. the staff was very nice, spoke english, breakfast was simple but good, the superior room we got had a queen bed, and a single bed by the balcony that overlooked a courtyard, everything was clean and looked up-to-date, […] the room was a good size too., there's a computer in the office for internet for a small fee, there's a pizza place next door (take out), and a very nice restaurant next to that, pricey, but worth it, there's a convenience store around the corner. the hotel is awesome we highly recommend it and we would stay here again! This hotel was very comfortable and the staff was very helpful and friendly. The room was comfortable and roomy by european standards. The elevator is only big enough for 1 person with a suitcase, so be prepared to make a couple of trips. The breakfast is cereal, toast and very good pastries along with coffee, milk and juice. They don't put out alot […] and when it's gone, it's gone, so get there early. The metro is at the end of the block and you can get anywhere in rome from there. The Spanish steps, Trevi fountain, Pantheon and Piazza Navona are walking distance. The Vatican and Colloseum are 3 or 4 stops(in opposite direction) on the metro. The Termini train staition, which will get you to Civitavecia(cruise port) and the airport as well as anywhere else you need to go, is 2 stops away. If you are looking for a 5 star hotel, keep looking, but if you want a safe, comfortable and very convenient hotel, this is the hotel for you. Lees meer

This was my first international trip so we were not used to small rooms and small showers. This was a great location which was down the street from the Trevi fountain and with in 5 minutes walking distance to the Spanish Steps. It's also a two minute walk to the Barbarini station. It made it easy to hop and off the metro. One of the gentlemen working […] in the morning was extremely friendly and made great suggestions for sightseeing. The staff was very friendly, the hotel was walking distance from everything, and the room was tiny but cute, with a small balcony and old fashioned elevator. What it lacks in space it makes up for in charm. Definitely worth the price we paid.

Nice, small, clean and friendly hotel right off of the Via Veneto with many great restaurants. Everyone speaks English. Near to the sights of Rome - the subway is on the corner, easy to negotiate and takes you everywhere.

At night, the toilet would gurgle and smell of sewage. We turned the fan on and closed the door which took care of the problem by morning. Staff were very helpful with everything from phone calls to dinner reccomendations and directions. (Even though they don't communicate between each shift well.)
