We moved to this hotel from a five star property that was too far from the city center. This hotel was in a much better location! Hotel La Palma was an excellent location for a 3 night stay on Lake Maggiore. Highlight of the hotel is definitely the Sky bar on the top floor with the heated spa pool. Superb views across the lake and good cocktails! Restaurant food was very good for dinner, but only average to good for breakfast. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful.

Beautiful room on 6th floor with side view of lake which actually has a great view. The islands and town lit up at night. Staff very welcoming. Our room was spotless and comfortable. The hotel was wonderful. The position was close to eating, shopping and the area where the boats left for the island tours. The only problem was that the Internet was expensive. In this day and age of use of the Internet for travel, business and for social media it is imperative that the hotels offer it as an inclusion in their room cost. We could use […] our iPad only in the foyer area and as this was how we were booking our onward travel it would have been nice to relax in our room and do this. Luxurious, spacious rooms are traditionally decorated with modern touches to make life very comfortable. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a lake view room from a side lake view. Located on the lakefront within walking distance of the town center and the various ferries to Isola Bella and the other Borromean Islands. Ample parking. The highlight of the hotel is the sky bar, which is like a roof terrace with wonderful views over the lake and islands. The lake-view junior suite was huge with a large terrace overlookking the lake and excellent bathroom.

Very nice hotel with a stunning roof top bar and spa pool with glass walls affording spectacular views of this stunning location. Some of the room's features did require attention and thus my rating has been reduced.

No complaints about the hotel staff helpful,hotel very clean and well kept.The roof bar is a lovely place for a drink.the hotel is near all the local attractions and only 5 minutes walk into Stresa, we did not use our car while we were there.it was safely parked in the hotel garage.

Although we requested a quiet room on a high floor when making the original booking, which was subsequently emailed to the hotel, we were allocated a room on the 3rd floor opposite the cleaners room which was very noisy due to cleaners starting work around 7 am . This was disappointing as we stayed for 11 nights and had to put up with this for the whole […] time. Reception claimed that the hotel was full and therefore were unwilling to change. Generally, the staff at the hotel were not particularly welcoming or friendly, and the bar service was very slow in the hotel loung with the bar being unstaffed on several occasions. Our third trip to Stresa. We prefer it to Como. Stresa is a great location to explore the Italian lakes and Switzerland. It has everything needed to enjoy the region, with fewer tourists than Como Hotel La Palma is well located, an easy walk to the town center. Make sure you reserve a "lake side" room , rather than "lake view", as they are larger and […] better suited for a longer stay. I rated "comfort" at 3 due to AC. Good points: Close to the centre of Stresa for boat and bus and also close by railway station. Beautiful Sky Bar on the 7th Floor giving 360 degree views with small pool, bar and loungers. Also garden by the lake with a larger pool (though unheated and cold even in August). Hotel also has a garden in front of the hotel which is set back from the road. […] Rooms are comfortable and very clean. If you can afford it go for a lake facing room, we had a rear facing room with no view to speak of but it was still very comfortable with a generous bathroom and a small balcony. Air conditioning in rooms and very good double glazing to cut out sound. Automatic shutters as well. Breakfasts are delicious and extensive with plenty of choice. We did not eat an evening meal in the hotel. The downside: The hotel is on a fairly busy road with traffic passing almost continuously - this actually applies to a number of other hotels in Stresa. This does mean that the garden by the pool area can be noisy with traffic noise and also from the water taxi point which comes in on the beach alongside the pool. All in all this is a terrific choice for a hotel in Stresa. Lees meer

The reception staff were extremely helpful and pleasant - nothing was too much trouble. The only negative was the restaurant. The food was good, however the breakfast buffet kept running out and it took some time to replenish. Initially disappointing in that we were allocated a room in the annexe at the back of the hotel which only had 3 guest rooms as the building was used for conferences etc. Described as a classic room which was a euphemism for old furniture. However the hotel overall was very good and the new sky bar was superb with wonderful views over the lake and islands. […] Also had own pool and gardens by the lakeside. Our stay at La Palma was a highlight of our holiday. The rooms were as expected and the lateral view of the lake was delightful over the flower box blooms combining with a view of the mountains - the best of both worlds. The rooms were serviced daily and the kindness of the housekeeping staff in taking care of our needs unseen was much appreciated. […] The Sky Terrace was sensational - 7th heaven really is the 7th floor with a 360 view of lake and mountains which took your breath away. The bar service was flawless. The breakfast dining room was also a highlight looking over the lake and garden terrace. The efficiency of the service in the dining room is worthy of commendation. I could not find fault with the La Palma hotel. The staff were all very helpful and efficient. The position of the hotel was perfect. The swimming pool is across the road but unless you need to keep going back to your room this is not a problem especially as the pool area is very clean and well maintained.The Sky bar on the roof was lovely.

The location is right on the water. and minutes away from the boat terminal and town center. Beautiful rooftop deck with infinity pool and bar with seating. Parking is available under the building and next door. Rooms facing the the lake have great views.

Overall we were very happy with the hotel and would return for another visit. The highlight for us was the rooftop bar and pool area which had amazing views across the Lake.

Not much in the way of information for guests to find out about any tours etc but we found 2 very helpful places just down the road. We had booked breakfast which was very good. Very good hotel near Stresa certer. Approximately 100 m from center. Takes ca.3-5 minutes to walk to main shopping area. Personnel are very helpful and nice. Most of them speak englisg and some even german (in addition to Italian). On roof you can find sun deck in which you can enjoy sun and magnifizent views to lake maggiore. In second highest floor […] you can find gym and spa area. Especially gym is nice, because it is not so much used, and equipments are brand new and top of technology. Superb! If I really have to pinpoit something negative then I would mention cleaners who are too loud; they shout to each other in corridors and between rooms. It is little bit irritating if you are trying to rest or your baby is trying to get sleep. Albeit cleaners very friendly. You can hear some noice from corridor and other rooms, but not too much. They could improve airconditioning, which did not work properly when we were there early April. Also hotel could rethink what to put to minibar and what is not needed. Furthermore they could increase their sales by distributing restaurant menu's to hotel rooms so that customers could easyly order room service (which is available,but you have to understand to ask for it). Hotel's restaurant is good and food excellent. This was important while we travelled with small child. Overall I highly recommend this hotel. It has not 5-stars but it deserves 4-stars easily. We spent 3 nights in this nice hotel. Everything worked to our satisfaction. Our only complaint is that internet access is charged with Euro 10 per 24 hours. Consisering the pricelevel of the hotel This should be included.

A lovely place and good hotel even outside the season. A new spa on the roof makes it great even in the rain. An easy location to get around from and great to use as a base to see milan or lake orta.
