Hotel Clybaun in Galway

The hotel was outside Galway which we knew when we booked but there was an excellent half hourly bus that got you into the city in about 10-15mins. The staff were excellent with a great service at all areas of the Hotel which we interacted with from Reception to the bar and the Leisure centre and Beauty salon. Unfortunately the room itself let down […] what was otherwise a really enjoyable couple of days. It was in need of refurb with a rip in the carpet and the dressing table badly chipped. Also the carpet could do with a good clean. That aside the bedding and bathroom were spotless and despite the cosmetic alterations required in the bedroom the hotel was well worth a visit and excellent value for money. Lees meer

Overall my experience of this hotel was very poor. Upon my arrival I went to my room to find the bed had a dip in the centre on it and that the spare pillows in the room were dirty and smelly. This was resolved by moving us to another room which was no better. The first morning we went down for breakfast which we paid for on check-in to be told that […] we were not entitled to breakfast. The waitress told us to continue getting the breakfast that she would rectify the situation. Following this she approached our breakfast table to inform us we infant were not entitled to it, in a very rude manner. The evening meal we received was awful with to food being burnt to a crisp and all having to be sent back. Then some of the same food being returned to the table. The manager when I spoke to her was lovely and very helpful yet this was too late as the trip had been completely ruined at this stage. The other staff I come in to contact with were very unhelpful bordering on rude at times. In all I would never stay in this hotel again even if it had the only vacant room in the city. Lees meer

Helpful staff. Good location, easy to get into galway city, and perfect for driving around connemara. Pool was nice, but had to wear hats and hot tub / steam room weren´t working. Room was clean, but too hot, and the radiator couldn´t be turned off.

I have stayed in this hotel on a few occassions over the past few years. The staff are very helpful and accomodating - on my last stay they allowed me to check in much earlier than time allowed which was great. The room quality is average but clean and bathroom was fine but no internet in the rooms only in reception. Gym is well equipped but very busy […] at peak times in the evening however open until 10pm. You need to drive to salthill or any walking area. However on my last visit traffic was crazy!! There is roadworks and as a result major delays at many roundabouts and there are quite a few roundabouts nomatter what route you wish to take!! Lees meer

it was grand but too far away from galway city the evening meals were not so good i enjoyed my stay had to travel everywhere by bus

Outdoor and indoor jacuzzi is awesome. The hotel is well kept. Should be a 4*; well above the standard of a 3* facility. Will definitely go back again.

I stayed in this hotel for 3 days in January. The room was huge and the beds were very comfortable. The breakfast was decent. Staff were friendly and there was also the use of a gym and spa. It was as good as any of the bigger brand name hotels. Only criticism was that it was a bit out of the way, but this wasnt a major concern for me. Great 3* star hotel close to the city. 10-15 min bus ride. Taxi fare around 10 euros. Leisure centre and swimming pool really made it enjoyable. Double bed was uncomfortable, probably because of wear and tear.

Well worth a visit, beautiful leisure centre. staff very helpful.

The hotel was conveniently located for my purposes. The receptionists were friendly and helpful. The room, particularly the bathroom was showing signs of wear and tear and/or shoddy build, but was clean and comfortable. The swimming pool and hot tub are excellent. As I did not stay for breakfast, I cannot comment on this. A pleasant stay overall.

The hotel was very good but the information about location was misleading. We were under the impression it was between galway city and salthill when in fact it was 3 or 4 miles away resulting in us a having a huge taxi bill to get to and from the conference we were attending

Very nice hotel but the whole point of the visit was to watch the sun go down on galway bay ! But the hotel is miles from the sea and wrongly described as having sea views. Very disappointing!

I have stayed at this hotel a number of times on business.Ideal location for Galway city and surrounding areas.Its nice to have a leisure centre to unwind in after work.Plenty of free parking and the hotel is well presented and clean.no problems ever experienced.Cost per night is reasonable

After we booked the Clybaun Hotel on Hotels.com we had low expectations for the price we paid. We were amazed on our arrival. A beautiful, welcoming, accommodating and well equipped hotel. Friendly staff, spacious rooms and great gym & pool. If I had one complaint it would be the location is a little, and I do mean little bit far from Salthill & Galway, […] but public transport is excellent with a regular bus which picks you up outside the hotel and brings you directly into Eyre Sq and back again. While the staff on reception, dining room, leisure centre were very helpful, the bar staff let this hotel down. Very slow service, and tables not cleared or wiped down. Spoke to locals in a nearby pub who said no locals go there because of the bad bar service. Overall though a good experience and would go again.

The hotel was hard to find with no signposts in the local area. The room was adequate but the cleaning was poor. There was paper on the floor when we arrived for a 2 night stay which was still there as we left. very poor supply of towels even though room towels were to be used in pool also. On day two we were left one towel for 3 people!

Was in a suburb type area. Was quiet but need to drive to get to town or Salthill. Room was kind of warm so needed to have the window open. Would have been nice if they could have provided a fan.

Friendliest, most helpful staff, esp. with children. We loved the pool! And with the beach and Salthill within 5min drive, there was no time for any child to be 'bored'!!!!

Location of the hotel is def in the suburbs of Salthill. There is nothing within walking distance. Having said that though, centre city Galway, the main street of Salthill, and Spiddal Craft Village are all an easy drive away. Also, main roads and freeways are easy accessed as well. Service late at night is a tad sporadic and the front desk was not […] readily available. Also, note to all travelers: always remember to check your RINGER is set to LOUD when requesting a wake-up call!!! Standard hotel, good rates, and overall, easy hotel to stay in. Would likely stay again if given the option and would recommend (as long as visitors understood there was nothing within walking distance!) Lees meer

comfortable Hotel, nice bar, outside of city centre but quick accessible by taxi

Hotel Clybaun was nice, clean, comfortable and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The pool and Jacuzzi were very nice and the hotel is quite close to everything, about a ten minute walk from the beach, shops and restaurants and only a minutes drive. Great and enjoyable stay. Will be back!

great hotel would stay again

We stayed in the Clybaun Hotel recently. We had booked for 2 nights, but only stayed for one. When we arrived, the toilet in our room did not work at all. We reported this to reception, who told us that the Hotel was fully booked, so they could not move us to another room. They said that the toilet would take an hour to fix. We went out for the evening, […] but when we returned, the toilet still was not fixed. Generally, although it was not that hot outside, the room was stiflingly hot. There is no air conditioning and we could not change rooms as the hotel was fully booked. The shower was very poor also, so we had to use the leisure complex the following morning. In addition, the toilets downstairs beside the restaurant (which we had to use), were not stocked with toilet paper or hand wash!) The room itself was well worn with damaged furniture. This is definitely a place that is fine for stag and hen nights, but very little else. We complained to the manager, who gave us a free breakfast along with her sincere apologies. However, we decided, as the toilet was not fixed and the room was not really that comfortable, that we would cancel our second night. The manager apologised again and refunded us for our second night. For the price of the hotel, it was the worst I have ever stayed in. It is very little to ask that a hotel room is clean, comfortable and has a working toilet and shower. The staff were pleasant, but the Hotel is badly in need of investment. We probably should have looked for a refund for the night we stayed also, but to be honest, we didn't want our weekend ruined any more by dealing with the hotel. Lees meer

We got a deal which included the night, breakfast, and dinner for two. The price paid for this was decent, but not outstanding. We were fairly happy with the whole experience, although there were some less than satisfactory parts. The leisure center with hot tub was wonderful, although it's a pity it closed so early (8:00 PM). We were only entitled […] to the continental breakfast, not the full breakfast, which seemed a bit cheap because everywhere else we stayed we received the full breakfast. We were supposed to have a choice of dinner in the bar or the nicer restaurant, but when we checked in, we were only directed to the bar. We thought perhaps it was because the restaurant had already closed, but later we discovered that wasn't true. Not sure why the staff at the front desk was not honest with us, and after seeing the menu at the nicer restaurant, I'm pretty disappointed that we did not have the choice of eating there. My fiancee surmised that it was he was casually dressed when we arrived...if that's the case, then I am very annoyed because we both changed clothes before dinner...we had been traveling all day and therefore obviously not dressed in our best upon arrival. The bed was rock hard...very uncomfortable. The hotel bar had live music going on well past midnight that was so loud we could hear it all the way in our room two floors above and it made it difficult to sleep. The hotel is beautiful and very clean. If I were trying to really see Galway, it would be a bit far out, but the surrounding area is very nice. Lees meer

We had a lovely stay in the Clybaun recently. The leisure facilities are great. There is a lovely pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi and a gorgeous outdoor hot-tub. The hotel is close to Salthill, about a 3 minute drive, and is only about a 10 minute drive from Galway city. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to others!

the rooms were clean and comfortable. We were able to get wi-fi in the lobby and the bar, which was a plus. The pool area was clean.

Very nice hotel. Clean and location is very close to Galway city and Salthill beach. It is a hotel for families rather than couples. Overall, we had a great stay and would recommend everyone.

We stayed a lot of different places in Ireland, and gave this one two nights. It is a bit of a drive from Galway, but doable. There is a bus that goes from the hotel to the city, but it is "on the hour" (late) and with the weather there, we weren't willing to wait 10-15 minutes after the bus's expected time just to avoid taking the car into town. excellent hotel extremely good value for money.although a bit outside city centre a very regular bus service outside hotel that leaves you in eyre square.hotel staff can give you timetable info.we found this a very peaceful place to stayand will defo return.

great, clean and good facilities

This hotel was in a perfect location being only a two minute drive from salthill. The staff were very pleasent and the room very spacious and clean.Would definately recommend this hotel to anyone and will stay there again.

Myself and 3 friends decided to go for a Saturday night out in Galway at the last minute...everywhere was booked up as expected and very expensive. We eventually found the Clybaun on the internet. It was available and the also the cheapest we had seen!we booked 2 twin rooms. We arrived down around 10.30pm and the receptionist who was very nice checked […] us in. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable...each room actually had a double and a single bed!there was a problem with one of the doors so we had to be changed from one room...no major problem and the lift did break when we went to take it up to the room around 5am sun morn!!!again, no major problem!we hung around the next day and had dinner in the carvery area which was lovely! i would definetly stay here again because it was so nice, only thing i'd change is to ensure i know the directions before i go as we did get a little lost at first!its about ten minutes drive from Galway city but in a nice quite area and reception organise taxis which come within 5mins! La piscine est sympathique, mais ouverte aux enfants accompagnés avant 19h00 uniquement. (bonnet de bain obligatoire en vente sur place 2,50 euros) Le centre de fitness […] est incroyable. Parking aisé et gratuit. Hotel très difficile à trouver sans GPS, loin de la mer et du centre ville, mais pub sur place et quartier du bord de mer avec restaurants pas trop loin. Lees meer
