Imperial Hotel in Cork

All well but lighting in rooms especially bathrooms need upgrading as very dark as well as dining room

This hotel location couldn't be beat with access to lots of shops and restaurants in walking distance. The staff seemed friendly and helpful as well. My main problem was the condition of the rooms/bathrooms. Very old furnishings, carpet, hard bed. The room was rather depressing actually and I would not want to stay here for more than a quick night.

Believe it not, Cork has a great little shopping area! This place is right down the street from it all! Apparently this hotel has been around for a very long time. It is nice and quaint! Also, well established so everyone knows where you are staying! The only thing I was a little thrown off by, was the old fashioned heating. I ended up leaving my warm […] clothes on until I hopped into bed because the little steam furnace didn't warm the room at all... but, at night, the wonderful soft comforters and pillows kept me toasty warm! This place is a "must stay" in Cork! Next time I hope to schedule in some time for a massage or facial in between my shopping spree!!! Lees meer

This elegant charmer was wonderful at Christmastime. The service was great and the hotel bar was very festive. Rooms were clean and comfortable although our telephone was not working.

Hotel is in a great location, but being on a main road and an old building with single pane window it can be a bit noisy. Also curtains didn't quite met (fully close) so bright street lights mean the room at the front of the hotel is never dark. Also room a little on the small side, with the bed pushed against one wall. No seriously, if you need a central location and a hotel with some panache then this is a good option. I found the staff helpful, enthusiastic and knowledgable about the area. The parking at 8 Euros a night is expensive but it is secure and only a 5 minute stroll away. Breakfast was good and the price ok. There are dozens of good restaurants and bars […] nearby. All in all The Imperial is a safe bet for a good nights sleep. Lees meer

NICE LOCATION. ENJOYED OUR STAY INTEND CALLING AGAIN.

The hotel on arrival is lovely, however the room was quite cramped and badly in need of maintenance. During the night we were awoken to dripping noise which could've been the rain outside but it was the rain inside. This was not only annoying as it was destroying our things on the table but dangerous because it was hitting a lamp and pooling round the […] electrical cord. The duty manager was very nice and offered us complimentary stay our next visit and to replace the damaged goods but this should never have skipped the maintenance report. Apart from this incident our stay was comfortable, the bed was spacious and offered a great night sleep. I would recommend the hotel to friends because it was in a great location and was a lovely hotel overall. We will certainly be using our complimentary night and would look forward to a most enjoyable experience. Lees meer

great location for shops and socializing.great town.

Had my wedding in Imperial in Cork last month, stayed there an extra few night leading up to & after it. Could not speak highly enough about the entire experience. Staff, hotel, food, atmosphere-everything was top notch. I would recommend this place to anyone coming to Cork. the hotel is in a great location and staff were v helpful. the only quibble i had is that my room was facing the main street and the windows were not double glazed - thus the traffic was quite noisy. i was surprised that a 4 star hotel didnt have double glazing in all rooms near traffic. other than that it is a lovely hotel

I arrived on an afternoon of unusual heat and humidity and was assigned a room without air conditioning. I was later informed that none of the rooms were air conditioned. The heat and humidity in the room was the worse I have ever experienced. One window existed and it could only be opened about six inches. On the third day I was informed by a fellow […] guest that I could obtain a table fan if I requested it from the desk.. This somewhat alleviated the problem after I placed the fan at the six inch window opening. I then walked around town and had a pint at the bar until 11Pm. By that time the room had cooled to about 85degrees F. Also, no iron or ironing board was in my room. Again, I borrowed one from the desk. Having grown up in Cork City I had always held The Imperial in high regard but this grand old lady is in decline. Jurys is far more guest friendly. Also, the parking(8 euros per day) is in an area very difficult to find based on the directions I received from the bellboy(bellman) On the plus side, if my stay was in winter I believe it would be less traumatic. The restaurant was fineand the barrom had a pleasant atmosphere. I got the feeling however thast the hotel may be going into receivership since the personnel lacked the interest in the welfare of the guests. Jurys spoiled me. Lees meer

The lobby and restaurants are lovely and reflect the history and culture of this wonderful city. The room was in good condition, a little worn, but comfortable. The only problem was the bathroom. The shower stall is cheap and the door kept folding in to the shower space, and the grout was black with mildew in spots. I only found this out when it was […] too late to change rooms, so there may have been other rooms that didn't have this problem. Also, there was a used bar of soap in the shower, so I'm assuming that the prior cleaning was not at all thorough. Another reviewer has already noted this, so check the bathroom immediately upon arrival. Overall, if you get a room with a clean bathroom, you will love the location, as it backs to the pedestrian mall and is surrounded by great shops, restaurants and pubs. Lees meer

I arrived here by car...no parking spaces at the hotel just a 2 min drop down so be quick as its all permit parking close by, Hotel does have a car park within close walking. Service downstairs and hotel looks great with a small cafe bar at the front. However very disappointing that the room i was allocated had such a bad stence the cleaners left the […] door open!!! The rest of the room was bearable but you had to be quick the damp musty old stence was outrageous. I would not stay here again at this hotel especially at the price they sell it for! Lees meer

This hotel is REALLY old. None of the floors are really level, there are cracks in walls, etc. It's worth staying there, but if you're expecting luxury, this is not it. Location is great, but make sure to ask for a room that does not border the street along the side of the hotel. It's near a bunch of restaurants & bars, so gets VERY loud at night.

the hotel itself is great and helpful staff. my room was a bit pokey for this grade of hotel, and the room interior was average three star standard not four star. i was only staying for one night so didnt make an issue about this. i was travelling on my own so that was probably why they gave me a small room - though the rate for one person was same […] as rate for two people staying in the room. hence i expected a decent sized double room.
