Fine hotel with friendly staff and well-maintained rooms. Our room (third floor) had no window, which felt kind of strange in the beginning, but turned out to be OK. Located in Chinatown close to three MRT (Underground) stations. Area is very safe. Rooms are not too big, but value for money. Only desadvantage: walls between rooms are very thin and we could follow all neighbours phonecalls and televisionprogrammes he watched. Nevertheless: would recommend it to others and stay here again in the future.
"Great hotel!"Beoordeeld door Hans uit "Amsterdam" op 12 sep, 2011
We arrived very early and there was no room available yet, we were told to wait at least 4 hours. However, 10 mins after our arrival they offered us an upgraded room so that we could check in immediately. Fantastic, large room, thanks a lot! Food, service, interior, location are all top notch. Highly recommended! Well, if I had to mention one con of the hotel, it's the pool; Small and not really decorated.

Staff is helpful. Breakfast is more than adequate. No elevator and no porter service which might deter some. Rooms are small but perfectly OK for one. Handheld showerhead but there was a holder for it on the wall so that was just fine. Little India MRT is a few blocks away. Little India is a vibrant location. Restaurants galore, jewelery shops selling […] gold bangles and necklaces, and bustle of a place that is really lived in and not just a tourist locale. Lees meer
Location was convenient for most of the tour buses. The staff were good keeping our luggage safe for a late take off.

"Stay at Perak Hotel, Little India, Singapore"
Perfect hotel: professional staff, nice and clean and charmin rooms, good ambiance, busy little India (good food there) - you find whatever you want
"Little Gem in Singapores Little India"
The Perak Hotel is a great hotel which delivers a very personal experience from the moment you enter the building. You are welcomed with a glass of Juice as the friendly staff go over the Check In with you. Assistant Alvin is particularly helpful, happy and welcoming. WIFI is meant to only be in the lobby area but I had no problem picking it up from […] my room. The hotel is in a good area. It's next door to an Indian restaurant where you can chill out with a large, cheap bottle of beer... Also a liquor store is opposite the hotel. Every Sunday Night the surrounding streets are absolutely filled with Indians on their day off. It really is amazing and has a great atmosphere. The closest Subway station is a 10 minute walk away, a new station at the end of Perak road is under construction. If you're looking for some electronics, Singapore's famous Sim Lim Electronics market is a 3 minute walk from the hotel. There is a Mosque close by and the prayer call may wake you up if you're trying to sleep. Lees meer
"Great location"
Inexpensive, clean hotel, with a very good breakfast and helpful staff. Located on the doorstep of Little India, this was a great location where there is always something to see and do. Turn right out the front door and walk about a half block and you have access to bus transportation. The original tour bus will pick you up and take you to the main […] terminal where you can get on the tour of your choice. Lees meer
"Little India Gem"
A great location for Little India. A short walk to two MRT stations with good connections. Friendly staff.
"Little Gem"
A fairly "basic" hotel in that the room was small and the bathroom very small but on the positive side there was clean bed linen and towels every day, the breakfast more than adequate, the hotel staff extremely helpful and cheerful and a free-to-use hotel computer. The location was 5 minutes equidistant from two MRT stations and being in "Little India" […] was close to any number of restaurants, mostly Indian, and all kinds of eating places including the famed (Chinese) Fatty Weng's in Burlington Centre. The surroundings might appear a bit seedy but don't be put off - that is just a facet of Singapore life. Take a walk up Serangoon Road to see the local jewellery and clothes shops and visit Bugis Street stalls for the hubbub. In Singapore terms, a good value hotel. Lees meer
"Disappointing Perak Hotel in Singapore"
We were very disappointed with our choice of the Perak Hotel in the Little India section of Singapore. We chose this hotel the way we choose others, based on a combination of price and reviews that are mostly quite positive. This hotel had a reasonable price for Singapore, but the room was a real disappointment and we were glad our reservation was only […] for 2 days. This was a pre-cruise visit to Singapore, and after talking to several other people on the cruise we realized that a different hotel would have made a big difference in our enjoyment of Singapore. Issues: 1. The room was quite small with only one place to open a suitcase and very little storage space. 2. The room did not have a real shower. Instead it had a shower head in the sink area of the bathroom, so after a shower your whole bathroom is a wet-room. A curtain could be pulled to separate that from the toilet area, but you still had to walk through the wet area to get to the toilet area. That whole situation was unpleasant. 3. The only outlets in the room were used by the TV and the refrigerator, so any time we needed to charge our phones and cameras we had to unplug the refrigerator (or TV). Result was that we could not have both cooled drinks and charged phones/cameras. 4. There were no windows in the room. The only window-type openings were short, wide openings close to the ceiling, and those did not have glass on them so it was quite noisy at night. 5. The setting in Little India was also a mistake for us. I thought it might be a good experience, and some might like it so I won't say that would be a mistake for everyone, but we were there during a huge festival, and Little India was overflowing with the large Indian population from all over Singapore and there were times when the crowds of people were so thick that we and everyone else were actually being pushed forward. We also found the streets and sidewalks of that area to be dirty, which could be a side effect of the festival, but the impre Lees meer
"Perak in Singapore"
An interesting, small, individual establishment in the bustling Little India district. For all that, the room was relatively quiet apart from a fairly noisy air conditioning system and the call to prayer around sunrise from the nearby mosque. This is not a modern 'chain' hotel' but is clean and friendly and in a more interesting district than many. […] Good breakfast provided with room rate. Worst feature is the hand held shower in the bathroom which makes life a little awkward. It is also the only way of obtaining hot running water for the washbasin. However, the overall experience was good and we would certainly consider staying again Lees meer

"Perak Hotel review"
This hotel is a small, "basic" hotel in the middle of Little India walking distance to two subway lines. The hotel staff were pleasant, efficient and especially helpful. Internet access is there, breakfast is good, the rooms were clean, beds comfortable -we stayed there two times.

"Good Time"
A nice place. For a cheap hotel, it wasn't bad at all. We were within walking distance of all the main attractions and the free breakfast was great. We'll use this hotel again if we're ever back in Prague.
"Perak Hotel - great ambience in Little India"
We were only there for two days before flying home but after staying at a very nice, corporate-style hotel in Singapore on the first part of our holiday, the Perak was a lovely contrast. Perak is a beautifully restored building with wooden floors, sloping ceilings and views of the busy Indian neighbourhood cafes and markets and nearby mosque. Lots of […] paintings and other artefacts make it a homely but exotic stay. We were in the family suite on the top floor and loved the spaciousness; our own little air-conditioned apartment, with the sounds of pigeons cooing outside and the calls to prayer making it extra special. Simple but nice breakfast buffet of cooked and continental foods. We were offered chilled orange juice on arrival which was a nice touch too. Loads of vegetarian and non-vegetarian cafes in surrounding streets; shops and markets selling handicrafts, clothing, bags, souvenirs etc; as well as big malls just a block away. Highly recommend. "Good value"
We stayed at the Hotel Perak for two nights to see Singapore. Being in Little India, it was within walking distance to the MRT station, and easy to use as a base for sightseeing. The room was clean, the staff so helpful, and the hotel itself was reminiscent of former, grander times. The hotel has been recently renovated, and, though small, we found […] the room comfortable and quite adequate for our needs. Lees meer
"The Perak Lodge - Sand ants and roaches, oh my!"
Although the staff at this LODGE are wonderful, it is by no standards a hotel, not even a one star. It looks like a lodge created in the 50s and the furniture never got upgraded, makes you feel quite uncomfortable to sleep on their 60+ year old beds. Unfortunately there are also teeny tiny sand ants on all the walls, and we saw two roaches in the bathroom […] - more than enough to make us glad this was just a quick stopover on our way out of the area. I wouldn't recommend this hotel at ALL, there were better hostels down the road (i.e. backpackers Inn, went in, was super clean in comparison and half the price). Overall, if you're only staying for one night and can stomach everything I've said, it's your call. Anything longer than that would be a waste of your visit and your money. Lees meer
"Hotel full of character in the middle of Singapore"
Generally speaking, staying at any hotel in the centre of a city means you are less likely to be able to sleep because of noise. Other reviews had mentioned noise so I was wary, but I found this charming little hotel right in the centre of Singapore was much quieter and more homely than more expensive hotels I have stayed in in other cities. There […] is construction work taking place at the end of the street for the new Singapore MRT rail line, but I did not notice any noise from this construction work, and it did not spoil my stay at all. A nearby bar causes a soft hubub of noise in the background, but this didn't bother me at all. The hotel is in a really convenient location: it is walking distance from where most coaches to/from Malaysia stop in Singapore, and a short walk from Little India MRT station. The Perak is neatly tucked away from the busy night time hubub of shops and restaurants in Little India - so it is really easy to go out for food or shopping (including toiletries that perhaps you forgot, which you can get from Haniffa just around the corner). Will definitely stay here again when I am next in Singapore. Lees meer
"Perak Hotel, Singapore"
Great location. Great staff. Clean Room. Beautiful hotel -hard wood floors :) No Wi-Fi. No toothbrush/paste, etc.
"The Perak Hotel"
Staff were extremely helpful. Room was small but clean and comfortable. We would be happy to stay again when next we visit Singapore.
"Perak Hotel - good value in expensive Singapore"

"Staff very friendly, room small"
Staff very helpful and friendly but room small. Noisy neighborhood, not helped by roadworks nearby. Breakfast OK and nice touch to have tea/coffee/water available all day. In summary, friendly, clean but noisy.
for a budget hotel , well this place is OKEY! . room is clean , staff are friendly.. the place is very near to central district.. the only inconvenience is there's ongoing construction near the hotel.

"The Perak Hotel in Singapore"
The Perak Hotel, for the very reasonable price, was excellent, the staff friendly and helpful. The room was always clean, and although quite small, was all we needed as we were out all day. We noticed complaints about the breakfast, but I have to say it was perfect for us - good coffee, cereal, fruit, toast, jams, two kinds of eggs - set you up for […] the morning. We enjoyed our stay and wouldn´t hesitate to book again. Lees meer
"A friendly hotel in an interesting area."
This hotel is located in Little India. I think this is one of the most interesting areas of Singapore and I find it a great place to stay. I had not visited the Perak hotel before but it has an excellent location in the heart of the Little India district but in a relatively quiet street. Around the corner are countless restaurants and a wide range of […] shops. It is also close to the Little India railway station for easy access to the rest of Singapore. A big plus was the friendly and helpful service. The only minus was the lack of a hot water tap over the wash basin. I had a delicious dinner at the restaurant recommended by the hotel. After 7pm the hotel also provides free internet. I will certainly stay there again. Lees meer
"Perak-Hotel in Singapore- good choice !"
Really nice hotel. The room and the hotel was very clean. The service (especially at the desk and at the breakfast buffet) was extremly friendly and helpful. I was positive surprised of the quality of this hotel. The room was big and the interior looked really nice (kind of antique). The city centre is in walking distance. I definitively would stay […] there a second time. Lees meer
"great simple hotel with taste of little india"
Good value for the money. Good TV and AC in the rooms. Beds were comfortable enough. Hot water in good shower. Simple accomodation but good enough. There was a safe in the room but mine didn't seem to work. Only thing was that my room was on the street/ally side which was pretty noisy every night until very late. So - I think it costs more but would […] be worth it to stay on the non street side if that matters to you. Also FYI the mosque in little India calls to prayer very early every morning. Definitely woke me up but I didn't mind and easily fell back asleep. The staff here is excellent and very honest and accomodating. Great service but FYI there is no help with your bags so don't expect it. Lees meer
"Perak Hotel in Little India, Singapore"
Singapore is filled with overpriced hotels lacking any sort of character or charm. Perak Hotel in Little India is not one of them. The 24-hour reception staff is very helpful. The rooms are modern, clean and attractive. Plus the whole place gives off kind of a zen vibe with its koi pond, antiques and unpretentious styling. Its a little out of the way […] if your main business is in the CBC or colonial district but the perks of staying in Little India (the food!) far outweigh any inconvenience. Lees meer
"Perak Hotel - Comfortable, Friendly & Affordable"
The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and very comfortable. Free WiFi was convenient and accessible at all times. Overall a great experience, would highly recommend it!
"Good service, safe location, downgraded room size"
In brief: Pros: Hotel in great location, right in Little India, very safe and only 30mins of the MRT (subway/train) from Changi. Very easy to get to. Clean. Service in evening was excellent, recommended great restaurant up the road. Cons: when we arrived we were told that although we had booked and paid for a Queen Superior room, they didnt have any […] and we had to settle for a twin room. I asked if we could push the beds together and was told we couldnt. Kind of ruined the romance for my wife and I! Due to this I would think twice before booking again, because you expect to get what is advertised. Lees meer

"great value and charcterful little hotel"
good value, small but unique, clean and really well positioned
"Small hotel in a pleasant location"
The hotel has a nice colonial feel in the strong multicultural area of Little India. The rooms are basic and we found them a bit small albeit we spent little time there, also the breakfasts were lacking in choice. The location suited us as we found Little India fascinating, a metro is about 200 metres away to get into the city or the nightspots, there […] is a nice little bar with friendly staff in the next street called The Black Sheep. To sum up a pleasant hotel in a multicultural location but the rooms were a bit small Lees meer
Mycket tråkigt rum på bottenvåningen utan riktiga fönster. Duglig frukost. Första gången i SG.
Perak-hotelli vastaa luvattua kahden ja puolen tähden hotellia hyvinkin. Soveltuu mainiosti lyhyeen parin-kolmen päivän oleskeluun. Palvelu äärimmäisen ystävällistä ja huomaavaista. Huone siisti mutta kovin pieni. Singaporelaisittain edullinen paikka hyvien kulkuyhteyksien äärellä värikkäässä ympäristössä Pikku-Intian laidalla. Hinta-laatusuhde kohdallaan. "Zimmer sind sehr renovierungsbedürftig-Schimmel!!!"
Das Perak liegt zentral gelegen, mitten in Little India. […] Muss man mögen... Wir fanden es nach 2 Nächten nervig! Frühstück war ok: 2 Sorten Toast, Marmelade & Kaffe oder Tee, O-Saft & Cornflakes. Mehr gab es aber auch nicht! Lees meer
