Donner Lake Village Resort in Truckee

We were up at Tahoe for spring skiing and was very happy to find this affordable place for 3 nights. Beware that although this site gives identical descriptions for the lodgette and studio, that the studio has a full kitchen and is a little bit bigger. We found out after talking directly to the hotel and were able to pay them the slightly higher upgrade […] fee to switch from a lodgette to a studio. Our unit had old furnishings that had seen better days. But, I was fine with that. What surprised me was that our friend's unit down the hall had very nice furniture, tv, and bed coverings. These are individually owned condos, so there isn't a uniform level of quality. The kitchen in our studio had a smaller apartment-size fridge and electric stove. There were the minimum pots and pans and utensils, but adequate plates and glasses. Overall, I was happy with what I got for the price I paid and would stay there again. Lees meer

Hotel location is great and it is very cute on the inside with some common areas that include a firepit with a view of the lake. We did have a screaming baby next to us (for two hours from 9 pm to 11 pm) and when I called the management after 11, I was surprised to hear they don't have on site management after 11 and they recommended I should be the […] one to knock on my neighbors door to complain. Really? They did call the room and the baby finally stopped crying. Not normally such a big deal but my kids couldn't sleep. Lees meer

Older but nice hotel. Room was clean, nice views, close enough to whatever we needed, but far enough for a nice quiet stay. Only complaint would be the fireplace in the end lounge didn't work and there didn't seem to be much concern to fix it. Would have been nice area to read/relax in, but a little chilly.

Rooms look better in person then online. Perfect location to ski and hit town and nice lake views. Staff was very personable! We will be back!

We had purchased a lakeview studio and arrived to have received a free upgrade to a one bedroom! It was amazing for our family of four, two doors down from the sauna, beautiful location beside Donner Lake. We were very lucky to have had such a nice apartment at an affordable rate, even though we were staying only one night. Good location, right on Donner Lake, nice enough for the price ($105/night), and just 10 minutes away from ski resorts. We requested a kitchennette and got one! The rooms (we had studio) are small but okay. Our complaint is the unit we had came with a trundle bed and a hidabed in the couch and they were both extremely uncomfortable. The matress on the […] trundle bed made our firm matress at home seem cloud soft by comparison. We didn't sleep well at all. We kicked the kids off the sofabed for the second night so we might get some sleep and found that matress was even worse. We took it off foundation and put it on the floor but that didn't really help. You could feel every spring in the light, thin matress poking up into your body. Another sleepless night. Hopefully the owner may see this and remedy the situation. If you do stay here and they offer you the room with the trundle bed you may want to check it out before you accept the room or ask for a different one. Lees meer

When we stay in the room during the night, we can hear people talking and whatch TV in next room to us, there is a door in between the room and it seems the noice is going through the door easily.

we stayed there for a night during winter break. it is a good location. Truckee is like 7 miles from this resort.

Beautiful location, rooms were clean. The resort had the old 50s 60s look and feel, which I enjoyed. The only issue I saw was the vhs/dvd player didn't work. I did not ask to have it fixed...wasn't a big deal...Staff was very friendly and helpful...I will stay there again.

We stayed here one night. It was nice, quiet, peaceful. The only downside is that as condos for rent there are fewer of the usual services you would expect. In particular no place for breakfast. But some rooms have small kitchens. Knowing that I would just bring breakfast fixings next time.

We stayed the last week of Jan. Found this place on line reading reviews. My husband and I were happy with this little place because we knew we would not be in doors much as we would be skiing and snowmobiling all day. This was perfect location, Truckee is 5 mins away. We ate at a mexican place and the portions were so large that we decided to stop […] at Safeway on way back to room and pick up some eggs and tortilla to make it into breakfast for next morning. We had a little kitchen fully stocked with pots and pans etc.. We didnt look around the grounds because it wasnt our interest in staying there and was covered in snow anyway. If you are looking for really nice decor and the feeling of freshness, newness, cleanliness, this is not the place. The decor/carpet is still hanging in there from the early 80's making it feel not clean but closer look and it is clean as "not being replaced for 30yrs" can be. We did our Laundry there so bring quarters etc... my only complaint: Our room had a street /parking lot light that was right in front of our window and with only having window blinds I kept waking up thinking it was daylight! NOT good sleep. A Bulking drape/curtain would fix that. Lees meer

The reception staff was great, very friendly and helpful. Only downside: I thought we had requested two double beds and we got a double bed and a sofabed which wasn't super comfortable, but passable for the one night. This resort has individual room onwership. the resort is managed by a very good company. The rooms are clean and well stocked with cooking equipment. This may differ with each unit. While nearby Stateline Northshore & Truckee, it was still very peaceful & serene. I recommend for when you need to get away from it all-- but not too far away!

They stayed open longer than normal to check us in, when it would have been easy enough for them just to answer the bell when we got there. Not a fancy place, but it was just fine. Right on the lake with two boat docks of its own. Comfortable group sitting room just inside the building with views of the lake on two sides through large windows.

This hotel is situated right on Donner Lake which is very nice. However, the room we had (#232) was very run down and tired. Peeling paint, old lineolium and carpet, clouded mirror, etc. Also, there were not enough beach chairs. There is a boat dock in front of the hotel and if you don't have a boat and can't get a chair in time, it is hard to enjoy […] the small beach. Lees meer

Beautiful setting. Friendly staff. Watching Donnor Lake at sunrise and sunset is one of the most beautiful things one can do. Love sitting on the dock and just taking in the mountain splendor. One of my favorite places to stay.

Enjoyed our stay here but we were a little disappointed that there wasn't a kitchenett in the room. There was a microwave, small frig and coffee pot. We will book a different type of room the next time we stay here. Over all it was good.

Great location and comfortable rroms, at the west end of Donner Lake. Rooms have fridge and microwave if you are staying several days. Good water skiing, skiing close by in winter.

We had a great stay and enjoyed the location as we wanted to ski at Donner Ski Ranch. A little disappointed that we paid extra for a 5 person room and still had to pay extra for a roll away bed. 2 on a pull out sofa and 3 expected to sleep in a king bed is not what I considered a 5 person room. The "lodgettes" are a great money saver for families visiting the area on a tight budget. The little kitchenettes are pretty functional for making simple family meals. I was quite satisfied with are room and the location.

Beautifully tucked away on Donner Lake and very convenient to Boreal where our family skiied. Just 15 minutes, so we could take a break during the day and go back easily for more time on the slopes. Great to have full kitchen. Cozy, comfortable and quiet; enjoyed lake view.

We stayed in this facility since the room was equipped with a microwave, refrigerator and stove. This was helpful for a family of four with unusually healthy appetites. During our stay, it snowed heavily over 3 to 4 feet during our first 24 hours. It was nice to travel back from skiing and come back to place to eat and sleep.

...I've stayed here twice now, and enjoyed my room both times. The staff in friendly, the rooms are well appointed, Donner Lake is gorgeous and right outside the door and there are four major ski areas within 30 minutes! Shower pressure was a little low :( Small potatoes though! I'll stay here again.

While "resort" is a misnomer, this was a lovely small motel right on Donner Lake. The weather was perfect for spring skiing at Donner Ski Ranch and we expected more grounds, but it was quiet. The rooms are nothing fancy, but adequate. There was a nice little kitchenette, which was helpful. Having a glass of wine on the dock was perfect.

The place was almost deserted (mid-week after tourist season and before ski season) so it was quiet and nice... I can see that if it was full, I might not have been so impressed, but we had a nice relaxing night and enjoyed the place. The desk clerk was pleasant and helpful, and our expectations were net quite nicely...

Units are right on Donner Lake with great access to swimming, fishing & boating. Very nice staff in the office.

We would definitely stay here again

子どもが遊ぶのに soda splash という スキー場にいくのに 泊まりましたがドナレイクが 思いのほか綺麗で バックの雪山も素敵で とても良かったです！ レストランやちょっとした ショップくらいはあるようです！ 車で3分くらいのとこに！ セイフウェイは車で一時間でした！ 部屋に電気コンロ、オーブンなど あってとても良かったです！
