Grand Ocean Hotel in Virginia Beach

So the title says it all I think but I'd like to give a little breakdown of the pro and cons. Keep in mind I'm not a picky person and I normally stay in cheap hotels but this one fell even below my standards. Pros:. Nice view, close to the beach. Cons. #1 No parking. You park a block away in an unattended lot with no lights. I was worried about my car […] getting broken into every night. #2. Elevator kept getting stuck with us in it. Very scary. #3. Mold all over the bathroom. And not a little, I mean huge black spots. #4. Air-conditioner didn't work and the lady at the front desk just told us to make sure it was plugged in but said there was nothing else she could do. #5, the pool is empty and filled with trash. All of the other pools around us were open and looked very inviting. ... Overall this has been the worst hotel I have stayed in and I love to travel so I've been in quite a few. Lees meer

I had a very nice stay the hotel was clean an the staff was very nice had a great time an beauitful view of the ocean! I would deff reccomend this hotel to anyone!

The hotel was great. Not sure why everyone is complaining about this place. The staff was pleasant and professional. They answered any questions we had. I can see how the club music can be heard, but with the waves coming up all night long, we couldn't hear the band at all and we had our window open the entire time. The only bad thing was that 1 of […] the elevators broke down, but that's okay, we got some good exercise in going up and down the stairs. When we left on Sunday, yea the hotel looked trash, but that was because of the college kids that were there, it was all cleaned up by the time we checked out. The staff and the hotel were great. the hotel was under obvious repairs. there were huge rolls or carpet everywhere. later, as the air conditioner in my room leaked water onto the floor, I understood why there were replacing all carpet. the view from the balcony was great. location was great as well. only con was parking up the street, but it was a very short walk. will stay here again […] in the future. Had to be moved to another room. Urine on comforter. Toilet was broken. Staff didn't act concerned at all.

Not only is this hotel filthy and disgusting, they have the worst service ever. Not only did they have used carpet all over, but they had the most unsanitary elevators ever.

Hotel is very outdated. Blow dryer, AC unit, and sliding door did not work. Pool was empty and very dirty. When we booked this hotel we asked about a pool and was told there was a heated pool yet once we arrived the pool was empty. Every other hotel around had a beautiful pool. Our patio off the room still had butts from smokers yet we booked a Non […] smoking room. Parking is 2 blocks away in a dark unattended lot. Felt very unsafe parking our car there. Other hotels around area were clean and updated. If you dont care about AC, pool, blow dryer or looks this hotel is for you. Will not be booking here again! Lees meer

The view was great, the loud music from downstairs was a little too much. But overall was an excellent stay! I will be staying there again!

My stay was okay. Pros: Location, ease of check in, comfortable room. Cons: Hairs in the tub! Half used conditioner. Sliding glass door was open when I arrived, whistled all night so I had to turn on the heat. Hole in the wall in the bathroom. We stayed for two days and they kept forgetting to bring us towels also the people @ the desk never spoke to any of us

The hotel had a great view, being all the rooms were oceanfront. My only issue was that the beds were very uncomfortable. My husband and I tried both the queen beds and both were too soft and lumpy.

Great Location on the beach. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was clean, hotel was in process of upgrading facility. Would stay again.

Hotel was good for the price and the location. Huge drawback was the extremely loud music from the beach side bar just below our 5th floor balcony. Luckily the incredibly loud noise stopped at 9 pm and the having the door closed and the AC cranked dulled the rest. The staff was very nice and hotel was clean.

Very disappointed with hotel cleanliness. The corridors, elevator and rooms were very unsanitary. The chair in our room was dirty and frayed all along the edges. The bathroom looked disheveled. We asked for a wake up call and were assured it would be done and no one called the next morning. I would never recommend this hotel.

I did not see hotels like that before, no hot water, no heat, nothing ....for this hotel rating, i can give below 0. no comment. don't book this hotel.

I think in reading other reviews, this hotel gets a bum rap. For the price it was right on the money. Clean, and the bed was comfy! Cheif complaint: hotel parking a block away!!! The parking had no lights. Not in my view, a good safety feature. Staff at desk was polite. We would stay again! Entertainment downstairs nice. The hotel was inexpensive for an off-season stay. The hotel isn't new but they were upgrading the elevators, painting, etc... I highly recommend the hotel.

I stayed here once before and it was perfect. Second time I stayed I was offered a good deal for the room and when I arrived the lady had no idea what I was talking about. I was upset but I still paid for the room. I asked.for a king size bed but unfortunately I received a room with two queen size beds. The hotel is falling apart. The sheets were old looking. The hotel had a bad odor. They do not have flat screen tv. The hotel atmosphere inside the room is so cheap. Where to start? We check in, only to find there was no parking .. it was 2 blocks away, in an unlit, unsecure lot! Go to our room, lights had no bulbs in them. Room was clean and view was great. After bring a friend home it is now 1am, raining, we are greated by the young man at the desk with a " what's up?" .. not how may I help you or anything. When […] checking out in the morning, the same young gentleman didn't ask how our stay was, ANYTHING. Oh .. I forgot .. couldn't take a shower in the am because there was no hot water! Location was great! Hotel is in dire need of a facelift...but it was clean. For the price you could not complain too much. It was a very reasonable off season rate. Bathroom was newly remodeled and very clean. New carpet and it was nice having a fridge and microwave.

It was a great room with microwave and refrigerator. Bathroom was very clean and Looked newly redone. However, We moved the couch and found a huge mess under it. Like it hadn"t been moved in years to clean under.

Not bad for price. Great view. The only problems were that parking lot was two blocks away across the main busy road. And the bar that is attached was very loud and could be heard through the whole building.
