So many free goodies! We arrived at Avila just at the time of the evening wine hour. The concierge poured us each a glass of red wine while we waited to check in. The hors-d'oeurves were spectacular and plentiful, not to mention we came back later for the evening dessert hour. A welcome basket full of great snacks, including a couple sodas was complimentary […] in our room. They also have a small room for purchasing food/drinks, which they charge 'cost'. Such a great deal, we bought bottles of water, soda, and other snacks to take for our drive, left with arms full and only paid around $8 for all of it! Aside from the extras, the ambiance of the hotel is very relaxed and romantic..great for couples. Our room had a jacuzzi tub and balcony as well. Beautiful decor and fountains all throughout this small boutique hotel. Service was great and staff were super friendly. Highly recommended Lees meer

We recently visited Avila Beach (with our small dog) and were delighted with the gorgeous little town that is SO dog friendly as well as this fantastic hotel. It is beautiful and intimate and charming. And our dog was so very comfortable. We have already recommended this hotel and will continue to do so.

We love this hotel. It's within walking distance to great resteraunts and wine tasting. The hotel is gorgeous and the staff will bend over backwards to accommodate you.

Just a beautiful stay in a sensational little town.

We recently stayed at this fine establishment. Service is the best we have received from a hotel...EVER! AWESOME SERVICE! We cannot wait to go back! You have to stay here. We loved it. Homemade pastries. Beautiful decor.

We enjoyed our stay at the La Fonda Hotel. Not only was the weather PERFECT in January, the staff, the hotel room, everything was set up for a relaxing 2 days. The hotel is a block away from the beach and right across the street from a wine tasting room, which was awesome! I went here the day after getting engaged for a romantic getaway and it was a great place. The staff was super friendly. We got the spa room which has a spa tub in the middle of the room. This place is one of the nicest hotels I have stayed in a while if not forever. A goody basket greets you when you walk in the room as well that was full of FREE snacks, […] yes free no cost at all. They also had free appatizers for us later which include a some wine tasting. We ended up not needing to go out to dinner with all the free goodies that we recieved that night. If you are so inclined you can stroll out to the beach which is super close and adds to the romance. If you want to borrow a movie to watch they have over 300 dvd's you just walk up and borrow and return whenever you want. They have snacks that are super cheap (it was .35 cents for a candy bar). Overall I had one of the best hotel experiences ever staying here. I just wish I could have made it last another day or two. The cost for the hotel is very reasonable. From the moment we stepped through the massive wooden doors of the hotel we felt like we were in Santa Fe, New Mexico or a beautiful small hotel in Mexico. The sound of water from many fountains was background music as we enjoyed cookies and milk upon check in, local wines and appetizers before dinner, pie after dinner and then chocolate croissants […] for breakfast. Our room smelled like Mexican pine and we loved the large screen TV and jetted whirlpool bath with candles/rubber ducky and also the two headed shower. The staff went out of their way to help and we felt like we had left the country. The hotel is a block from the pier and close to all that Avila has to offer. LOVED IT! Lees meer

The hotel is very small and quiet. The sweet smell of coffee, teas, pastries inundated the air. My room was spacious, comfortable and well decorated. It never felt like a "hotel-room". I was in a business trip, but definitely will come back as a visitor to the area. Perfect for romantic and quiet getaways. Bravo!!

My husband and I came here to celebrate our 3rd year anniversary.The hotel may be small compared to others I have stayed at but the service and the quality of everything was just exceptional. I've never stayed at a hotel that provided complimentary goodies for their guests. It was everything from chocolate chip cookies , pies, and chocolate croissants […] to a manager's reception for all the guests. I almost forgot ..they provided also a basket of goodies in our room. I also loved our room. I love the vibrant color of the wall in our room and the hotel. The staff was friendly and made our stay so wonderful that I wanted to stay another night. The hotel and it's staff could not have done more to go out of their way to make our stay and our 30th anniversary more special that it was. Great getaway, close to everything in Avila. Walking distance to beach, restruarants, entertainment. Would definately return when the chance comes.

This is a great and comfortable hotel. Also, very romantic!

We squeezed three adults into the room which was very tight , but it worked! They have a cute foldout twin sleeper and a queen sized murphy bed. The queen bed is starting to sag in the middle, but was still comfy. They really pay attention to the details and gave us a lot of free goodies in our room. Then you have a great wine reception in the evening. […] We traveled with a 2yr old and they were very accommodating. The room was really clean and we especially loved the attention to detail. The hotel is lovely, rooms nicely appointed, staff very nice and the added lounge with wine reception is also a great touch. The Spa bath with candles, the fireplace the large TV all great comfort items BUT All of the good people & comfort could not overcome that the building was built so poorly that noised upstairs resonate through from upstairs to […] downstairs rooms as though in an echo chamber. The floors are mexican paver tiles & combined with a structure that did not have muting of sound in mind when built, left us with a somewhat sleepless night ... until our upstairs roommates decided to go to bed. It felt a bit like we had unintended roommates. The bed itself also was a bit of a problem as it seemed to send waves from one side to the other as one moved, fine if you are making the trip on your own. Not so fine if two of you are trying to sleep in the same bed. Minor annoyance is that the shower rug was made form non-absorbent acrylic and the shower had body sprays that hit me in the face and eye as I am short.. though I did learn to adjust them. Absolutely wonderful experience, it was everything i had hoped for when I booked the reservation. The staff is very helpful, the decor is spanish style, warm and romantic. There are always warm chocolate chip cookies in the lounge...yum! We have only stayed here the one time, and we fell in love with this place and can't wait to go back. It's a very small, out of the way town. I'm not even sure you would find it unless you're purposely going there. The hotel itself has it's own free parking, which surprised me as all the other hotels I stay at in California only have valet and give […] you a pretty hefty charge to use it. Not these guys, it's free. We stayed in the spa room. It was really nicely decorated and clean. There's a two person jet tub in the room. It was clean and worked great! The shower had 6 shower heads! You felt like you were getting a massage as your showered! The location is great. Avila Beach is a very small place, and has a nice selection of small shops and restaurants. You can easily walk the whole town from this hotel. The beach is only a few blocks away, and also has a very long pier, that we enjoyed walking, and many people were fishing from it. The town and the hotel is a beautiful place, we plan to go back some day and stay longer. Lees meer

I spent a weekend at Avila La Fonda hotel in Avila Beach with my fiance, and we were just amazed by the high level of service from the hotel staff. They really went out of their way to make us feel at home! The room was beautiful and also comfortable, with a full kitchen and full-size refrigerator, and a big bathroom with a jacuzzi tub. My only complaint […] was the lack of a closet. The service was what set the hotel apart however, first, the hotel provided a complimentary gift basket full of snacks and treats. Then, every night at 5 PM, the hotel had a "Happy Hour" where they provided excellent food and local wine, at no cost! They also had a book and a DVD library, and hotel guests could borrow books and DVDs also at no cost. Finally, there was the "pantry", where guests could purchase pastries and snacks for a very low price (50 cents for a blueberry muffin, for example). My fiance and I loved this hotel and are planning to go back whenever we can. We both highly recommend Avila La Fonda hotel to anyone planning a vacation in the San Luis Obispo area. Lees meer

Upon Arrival, we were warmly greeted by the friendly hotel staff as if they were expecting us at that exact moment. The scent of fresh baked chocolate chip cookies was in the air and we felt as if we were home away from home after a long drive. When we entered our room, my husband was in awe, the room was beautifully decorated and had a full kitchen, […] which is a huge plus. A welcome basket with a ton of free goodies was waiting for us on the kitchen table for us to nibble on during our stay. If we happened to run out of snacks, we could run downstairs to the hotel pantry and purchase more for super cheap and I mean super cheap! A few minor flaws we experienced with the room was the Murphy Bed and the crowding of the surrounding furniture around the bed made it feel a little cramped. The bed was a little unsturdy than a regular bed, but was still fairly comfy considering we slept like babies through the night, especially after soaking in the jacuzzi tub. I heard from other guests that the Spa Room and Casita both have regular beds and we would recommend you reserve those rooms if you are not comfortable sleeping on a Murphy bed. We will definitely be back and will recommend this fabulous hotel to our family and friends. Lees meer

A beautiful spanish style hotel, beautifully decorated with convenient, free, underground parking, about a block from the beach/boardwalk & restaurants. Complimentary wine & appetizers (at least one is hot) are served from 5 to 6:30 every night. The little town itself is quite nice having all been completely rebuilt in the last 10 years after a major […] oil spill cleanup. All in all a unique experience that was quite a surprise for us in that we were just looking for a half way overnight stop on a road trip from San Francisco to San Diego. We'll do it again. ... we already went to several hotels in different locations. This hotel was really outstanding. Everything clean, super nice romantic surroundings, very quite, super friendly service ... wow!!!

One of the few hotels that I tweeted from the moment I stepped in the room. Felt very welcome the moment I was greeted. The color scheme/decoration was gorgeous. The room was really comfortable - fireplace, jacuzzi in room, great shower. The surrounding area was utterly silent which was phenomenal after the long drive. Could not have been happier.

The hotel was beautifully decorated in every way. Lots of "eye candy" Staff was friendly and helpful. Great getaway and you felt you money was well spent. I would go there again. Also tell my friends about the hotel.

Overall, a nice hotel but pricey for what you get.

The picture of the hotel made it look like it was set in a tranquil location, this was not the case as it backed onto a parking lot. The room made up for this and the service was good. The pricing was slightly too pricey for the facilities available/hotel location.

This hotel was absolutely amazing. I would go back every single time I go down there. The service was amazing, even cute! They had fresh baked cookies for us, and everyday from 5-6:30 they had a complimentary wine tasting, with appetizers.
