The inn and inkeeper, Tessa, were charming, and in a bucolic location. Tessa prepared a different, delicious breakfast each day. My room was near perfect for me - (a comfortable reading chair would have been the final touch) - but the bed was wonderful as was the bedding and heavenly duvet. Easily the best bed and breakfast I've ever stayed in! My wife and I checked in late and the owners were very accomodating. They also upgraded our room which we really appreciated! This was my second stay at the Taylor House Inn. My son and I stayed 2nights in March 2012 and we happily returned again for a one night stay this past week on Jan. 22, 2013. The owners, Tessa and Bernard, are extremely friendly and go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable. For example, when we arrived for our most current stay, they upgraded […] our room at no extra charge. I had booked the Little Room outside of the main house, but as soon as we checked in, Bernard said we would be staying in one of the big rooms in the main house. For each of our stays, Tessa put out a treat like cookies or pie at 5pm or so. They also have complimentary hot tea, hot chocolate, coffee, water, and sodas. In addition, Tessa asked me what we wanted to have for breakfast the next morning as well as what time we needed to eat. The breakfast was wonderful and kept me full all day! Their kindness and hospitality is hard to beat. For each of our stays at the Inn, they offered to help carry things from my car to our room. They also came out in the extremely cold weather to take a few photos of my son and I on the property. The Inn is conveniently located in Valle Crusis so it is close to everything: Banner Elk, Boone, Seven Devils, Sugar Mountain, Beech Mountain, Hawksnest, Linville Falls, Elk River Falls, Blowing Rock and more. The owners are absolutely charming. They are conversational, kind, and willing to provide not just a comfortable inn, but the concierge service you might find at a fine hotel--such as calling local restaurants to make reservations for you. The inn is quiet, immaculate, comfortable, and elegant. You won't find what I call "country vomit" on the interior-- no plastic pink and green chains of flowers or kitschy clutter. The breakfasts are as beautiful as they are delicious--Tessa and Bernard provided us with elegant plates of homemade fig-stuffed bread rolls, exotic fruits, and on one morning, the most fluffy and succulent eggs roulade. Enjoy your stay in one of the nicest inns I have ever had the pleasure of enjoying. While it was just my husband and I for Thanksgiving weekend, we did see that others brought their children. The inn is in a lovely, rural spot, with misty rolling hills to greet you in the morning. The innkeepers are really lovely, gave me a free upgrade, and even made a last-minute reservation at the wonderful "slow food" Mast Inn restaurant down the road (basically talking them in to finding room for one more lone traveler, not a small feat for such a small […] restaurant). I wish I lived closer; I'd be back more often. Beware the road construction on an already very windy and narrow Route 194, which bordered on off-roading at times. I suspect they'll be working on this road for a while, so, especially if you're travelling at night, find an alternate route (the innkeeper can help!). Lees meer

Everything about the B&B was excellent, but make sure you arrive via the main, front road, because the back road from Banner Elk was torn up.

I didn't dawn on us to ask if there would be a television in our room. As a matter of fact, there wasn't one anywhere that we could find. I was also expecting some kind of a social event in the evenings or at least a common area where people could hang out, play a few games or just get to know other people. The Taylor House has a wonderful feel of mountain life for a large family. The rooms were airy and very clean. with every room having a view. It was wonderful to sleep with the windows open and the smell of fresh air in the house. We loved the 3 day stay; it was friend, very clean and home like environment. The only down side was we where upstairs and heat rises so it was about 10 degrees warm up stairs.

We were going to be in the Banner Elk area to play in the snow and decided to stay at the Taylor House Inn. On our drive in, we were contacted by the owners to see if we would be arriving soon and if we wanted to go ahead and check in early. We arrived and were immediately greeted by Tessa. She checked us in and upgraded our room to a larger room within […] the main house, no questions asked. She also offered to help us bring in our luggage. We then informed her that because of our schedule, we would not be able to stay for breakfast. We left to the ski resort and when we returned later that evening, Tessa stocked our room with breakfast items we could take with us on the road along with a personal note thanking us for our stay. The room had a king sized bed, a nice big bathroom with a mini fridge stocked with drinks for our taking at no additional charge. The room and bed were very comfortable and we had a good nights sleep. We would certainly stay here again and couldn't be happier with the customer service we were provided. Lees meer

Wir hatten ein Zimmer im Nebengebäude "Flower Cottage" gebucht. Dieses stellte sich als wohnwagenähnliche Einraumunterbringung schräg hinter dem Haupthaus heraus - Lüftungsgebläse des Haupthauses direkt vor der Tür. Es war schmuddelig, sehr feucht, ganz offensichtlich längere Zeit nicht gelüftet. Vor allem das Bett war so feucht, dass wir uns nicht […] vorstellen konnten, und da hinein zu legen. Die Klimaanlage wurde mit unserem Eintreffen eingeschaltet. Upgrade in´s Haupthaus wurde erst blockiert, dann, nach hartnäckigem Nachfragen, für die nächste Nacht möglich gemacht. Als wir am nächsten Tag ein Visitors Center im selben County besuchten, um uns ein anderes B&B zu suchen, war "unser" Zimmer schon wieder als frei gemeldet worden, obwohl wir für zwei Nächte gebucht und im Voraus bezahlt hatten. So etwas ist nun wirklich unkorrekt - neben den Zumutungen durch die falschen, beschönigenden Angaben. Wir raten unbedingt ab. Lees meer
