Pros: - close to subway lines - staff are friendly and some speak English - there is free wi-fi in the hotel lobby and restaurants - room is large Cons - hotel seems old and in need of a remodel, e.g. carpets are old and stained, grout in bathroom - lobby, hallways, and elevators smell like smoke - my non-smoking room did not smell too much like smoke, […] but since people are allowed to smoke in the hallways, some smoke smell entered - the hotel restaurant prices and the prices for room service seem expensive compared to other Beijing hotels I've stayed at In the end, if you're looking for a relatively affordable place to stay that's close to subway lines, then the Grand Mercure is not a bad choice. This was by no means a 4 star hotel. I expect that this may be considered a 4 star hotel in China but if you are new to China or a first time traveler this is NOT to an American 4 star standards. The service was nice but the room details that you expect in a 4 star hotel are not available. Like name brand bathroom toiletries, soft sheets, or even a […] pillow top bed. And like many buildings in China the overall maintenance is not kept up. We had a leaky toilet and moldy grout. As an avid traveler I would rate this 2.5 if compared to American hotel standards. Service was OK, but nothing speecial, the room was dated, and soe parts were dirty. The walls near the air vents were darened from dirt, edges of the mirror were black as well as the grouting in the bathroom. Not worth the price.

there will be an 80 RMB charge for the 24 hour period of in-room Internet usage. Although the wireless internet is free at the lobby.

The hotel was high-class, high-luxury all the way! It was a lovely stay and most of the staff were very helpful, but there was 1 person in the entire hotel that spoke even a little English. I stayed at 4 hotels during my recent 2 and 1/2 weeks trip to China. This is the worst! It claims to be 4 star, but the facility is at most 2 stars. Dirty room, dirty bathroom, dirth sheets - nothing seems to be clean. Bad breakfast, low quality foods. Bad service. Great location. Nice hotel. Not luxury, but functional and great value for money. Decent breakfast and within walking distance (15 minutes) to Tianamen Square.

Great location near the shopping centers and Tiananmen square. The hotel was clean and reasonably priced.

The hotel was only 2 blocks away from the subway, and only 1 stop west of Tianamen square. It is really a nice 3-star hotel, not 4-star as advertised. But, it is very clean. My review on this hotel is based on a 3 night vacation stay. In my experience I don't find neither the hotel accommodation, location nor staff to be particularly great compared to other hotels. I arrived at 7am after having a flight delay which meant I missed my first nights accommodation. Staff at the hotel were not particularly interested in making […] my arrival comfortable and the receptionist barely spoke to me while checking in. When asking about the internet she told me the price but made no mention that the first day of usage was free- something I only found out by chance on my last morning there. The room itself could have done with a renovation, however was clean and comfortable. Cleaning staff were sometimes forgetful in providing tea/coffee etc, but at the same time were efficient in other aspects. Check out again was not satisfactory. The woman barely spoke to me, took my money and didn't even say goodbye- I had to ask if that was everything and could I leave. Overall due to her I would say the service was very poor. I am very impressed with my experience of staying at the Grand Mercure Xidan in Beijing. The hotel is very well located in a prime area and is easily connected to all the locations in the city by taxi, underground rail and other forms of public transport. （服务质量稍差的酒店，不如加点钱入住其他五星酒店） 1.前台人员素质有待加强：互相推诿入住办理，甚者有一服务人员说她已经下班了，叫我再去排别的人员办理。供给花了20～30分钟以上办理入住。 2.房间清洁有待加强：入住4晚，床单有脏污没有主动换洗，还得房客要求才更新。浴室给的擦手毛巾还有遗漏，非常不专业。 4.咖啡杯，喝水玻璃杯有污渍，看了都不敢喝。 以后应该不会再入住了！

Vi var en uke i Beijing og bodde på Grand Mercure Beijing Central hele tiden. Vi var veldig fornøyd med oppholdet, personalet snakket bra engelsk og hjalp oss med det med det vi trengte hjelp til. Beliggenheten var veldig bra, hotellet ligger nemlig mellom to transfer subway stasjoner, slik at man har 4 linjer og velge mellom, så det var veldig greit […] å bruke subway. Rommet var helt vanlig og greit. Vi spiste på den ene kinesiske restauranten på hotellet en dag, og de hadde veldig god mat. Så alt i alt var vi veldig fornøyd med hotellet og anbefaler det gjerne til andre. Lees meer

2 eme passage dans cet hôtel. Le 1er il y a 2 ans c’était bien déroulé, chambre propre, prix très raisonnable. 2 ans plus tard, j'ai repris une chambre "supérieur" et le constat n'est plus du tout le même. La chambre pas été entretenue correctement, la moquette est maintenant usée et sale (présence de taches), dans la salle de bain même constat, certaines […] serviettes de toilettes sont trouées, les joints sont noircis, les robinets sont plein de calcaire et il y a diverses taches au sol et sur les meubles. On est maintenant loin de la prestation attendue pour un 4 étoile. Le petit déjeuné est bon (tout de même 15€), internet n'est disponible que par connexion par câble dans les chambres et est payant (>10€/heures). Il est par contre gratuit en wifi dans le lounge. Le tarif des chambres à quand à lui augmenté de près 50% depuis mon passage il y a 2 ans. Lees meer

Lage ist ok. Sauberkeit der Zimmer idt maessig, aber fuer pekinger Verhaeltnisse wahrscheinlivh in Ordnung. Hotelpersonal ist aufmerksam und loesungsorientiert.

Vi hadde 5 netter på dette hotellet, og hadde ingenting å klage på. Trivelige folk både i resepsjonen og ellers. Lett å finne noen som kunne engelsk. Allsidig frokost for enhver smak. Mykere senger enn vi har opplevd ellers i Kina. Sentralt hotell for dem som vil besøke mange av de kjente severdighetene i Beijing. Nærhet til T-banen, der det var lett […] å ta seg frem. Lees meer

방을 두개 잡았는데 8층과 9층을 주더군요. 그러다 바로 전화와서 8층에 자리가 있어 옯겨주겠다 전화를 줬구요. 친절하다 생각했는데 알고보니 원래 9층 방이 우리 퇴실날에 맞춰 가족여행이 오는거였습니다. 9층에서 옮긴 8층 방은 에어컨이 고장이었고 이중창이 아니라 창밖소리도 들렸습니다. 에어컨 봐달라고 했더니 선풍기를 준다던구요. 이러쿠 저러쿠 해서 다시 9층으로 돌아왔던 퇴실 하루 전 밤 11시 넘어서 전화가 와서는 방을 옮겨달라고 하더군요. 짜증이 많이 났습니다. 별로 추천해드리고 싶지 않네요.

Eg kan absolutt anbefale dette hotellet. Rommet var flott, servicen var god og beliggenheten var sentral. Veldig lett å komme seg rundt i byen ved hjelp av T-bane. 5 min å gange til Xidan stasjon.

hotel très confortable, bon lits et bons oreillers chambres bien insonorisées. Personnel serviable hotel proche cité interdite : 15 - 20 min à pieds. bien situé géographiquement : très central ( pratique pour les déplacements en taxi) Petit dej pas donné mais varié et bon le plus : piscine et jacuzzi très agréable.

Ett jättefint hotell. Det som drar ner betyget är personalens anmärkningsvärt dåliga engelska och att frukosten, som inte ingick för oss, var skrattretande dyr. De flesta turist-hotell ligger öster om himmelska fridens torg. Detta hotell ligger sydväst om det samma, vilket innebär att man kommer lite längre ifrån sevärdheterna.
