My husband to me on vacation for my 50th Bday to Boca Chica for a week, we stayed at the Be Live Hamaca Garden Resort. We stayed in a king size suite the room was beatiful and clean, but we had no hot water, when we tried to report it to the front desk, no one could understand what we were talking about because no one could speak or understand english […] well at all. They claimed they fixed the water but it just got luke warm for the whole week. the hot tub also had cold water, but the beach was beatiful hot with blue water. We went to for 8 days and spent new year there. Only one day we had hot water. They had a refrigerator in the room that never worked. The safety box in the room was never but we never used it because it had a lock with no key. We complained everyday at least twice a day and no one ever did anything. Hotel room was sparse and the bathroom floor was not clean. The bed was only made with a sheet and we had to look for a blanket. The blanket was full of holes as well as the curtains. The shower didn't work the toilet didn't work well either. Staff was neither friendly or helpful. Will not go back.

Right now this hotel is under construction and i belive that is not well organized in respect to that causing a lot of inconvinience to customers.Food is fine although there were just one restaurant open,italian. Maybe in the next year and a half it would be a 5 star hotel again.

Please do not reserve the standard rooms at this hotel! They are across the street from the main hotel, dark, uncomfortable, nasty, and the smell is terrible. This was the worst vacation experience I have ever had. The BeLive Hamaca Garden is located in a remote and unsafe area o Boca Chica. Check-in was terrible, my head was pounding by the time we finally got a room at around(6) six o'clock. The room was located in a veryy noisey area of the main hotel and there was a dead rodent smell in the bathroom. […] This was eradicated when we reported it to Guest Services. The two couples we were traveling with, had to change their rooms(4) four times, before getting "adequate" accommedations. We had to go outside the main hotel in order to eat. So on the days it rained we ended up getting wet. There were no umbrellas available for guest. There was no room service offered and the food was substandard. The three (3) "specialty" resturants did not exsist ( one resturant serving a different "cuizine" each night, with limited setting and limited menu items). Unfortunately my visit to The Hamaca Live was not a good one. Service, room, food and overall cleaniness was not to standard. My toilet had a huge leak, when I made the front desk aware, they said they would send someone right away-never happen. My bed only had one fitted sheet, I was forced to turn off my AC because i was freezing at night. My hand towels were not refreshed or replaced on a daily basis. The food was the same everyday and almost depleted way before it was time to end. The vendors on the property that sold souvenirs were way too pushy. The male staff was way more sociable then need be; made me feel very uncomfortable. For this hotel to be rated as a 4 star is very, very disappointing. I checked in later than the standard 3 o'clock and when I arrived there was no bell person to assist me with my luggage. The front office attendants were pleasant, however, not very informative as to what time are meals served etc. The check in process was not smooth at all everything […] had to be prepaid vs having the comfort of everything being charged to my account. I had to pay for a safe deposit box, which I thought this was included in an all inclusive hotel and did I mention it's a 4 star.I had stayed in another hotel in Santo Domingo called BQ Santo Domingo and there I received 5 star service. It was a total of three people my mother and my elderly (90 year old) grandmother that stayed in Hamaca. I had to rent a wheel chair and I was given the biggest run around just to rent the chair and it was broken as well. When I arrived to my room which was not very clean, there were only two towels for a total of three people and one quilt for a two bed room. Good luck trying to reach room service after 10 o'clock for a supposedly 24 hour service line. I had to walk back to the front desk about three block distance to ask for extra towels and quilt. DONT GO HERE! 1st of all, I understand its not a top of line Las Vegas hotel, or a 5 star in the Bahamas, but when you dont have running water in the rooms, phone doesn't work, tv is broken, your refrigerator is better off being an ice cooler and your […] safe is a metal tin box that you have to pay for a key to use..you NEED TO UPDATE YOUR RESORT. One day into the trip I got my room changed, to a better location, seems like they break it up Ghetto, better, and then the beach. I ended up in the middle class, still the beds were like rocks, it took 3 DAYS! for room service to bring me a Coke! I had to go track them down after days, and hours of calling them. The reception area is the worst! Not organized at all, everyone forms lines through out the day to complain, and all they do is give you a smirk and ask you to come by later and they will see what they can do about your issue. The non stop harassment by the guys on motorcycles outside the resort and in the casino in their attempt to sell you cocaine, weed, and hookers made this trip horrible. They will follow you for miles down the road and talk you to death. They even followed me into the ocean, and they were wearing jeans and a button down shirt. I travel a lot for business and am used to Hampton's, Hilton Garden's, Marriott's, etc. After reading the reviews, I wasn't expecting the same quality at an all-inclusive resort outside of the US. If you walk in with that mentality, you'll likely be satisfied with your stay. A few things that could have been improved: water pressure in the shower (it […] is basically a drizzle), slow check-in process, and including a light blanket on the bed (they standardize the rooms with sheets-only now?). The buffet was just that -- a buffet; nothing too great and nothing to terrible. It does get a little old after a few days so be sure to take advantage of the free gourmet restaurants, they're worth the reservation. We also traveled off of the resort and into the adjoining market a few times. This was definitely a unique experience. I would definitely only recommend doing this during the day and with other people. The vendors are more-than-persistent, but the experience is unique to Dominican culture and if you negotiate, you can get some great deals! I would also recommend going on a few of the excursions -- we went riding on ATV's for a few hours and also took a day trip to Saona Island. Definitely worth the $55/person for a chance to see the Caribbean in a more intimate setting. After all is said & done, I would return, with an extra blanket in my bag. We spend 45 minutes only at the reception to check in which repeated more times afterwards when we reported more issues found in rooms. Only one person at the reception seemed to understand his job - young male I cannot remember his name. We had more issues with the room keys, fridge did not work for couple of days, TV was fixed on the second day, room […] safe advertised but not working, flies in the sink, water did not work during the night - went to airport without a shower .. The beach was very shallow, not great looking, beach bar full of bees, snack bar later in the afternoon not checked - half empty, dirty. The pools are nice, spa staff very pleasant and we enjoyed the good wine and food in the buffet. We booked also some shore excursions which were ok. We have arrived at the hotel and first spent 2 hours in a lineup with only three couples in front of us to get through the check-in process. This was at 4pm and check-in starts at 3pm, in other words the start of a check-in "rush". Despite the fact that several staff members were wondering about, only one was actually at the counter working. Finally, […] after two hours, we were checked in. Of course, our keys didn't work either, however after two trips back and forth between the room (in a complex across the street) and the reception, the third set of keys finally worked. So that was my first experience. In the room, the front door visor was knocked out so all that was there was a hole in the door. Likewise, the lock from the in-room safe was removed so the safe was entirely useless, and the railing on the balcony (which was 4 ft by 2 ft) was covered by countless bird droppings. Common areas such as the restaurant, pool, or beach areas were well maintained which was important as leaving the resort area was not pleasant. Within seconds of leaving the resort guests of the resort were harassed by locals offering anything from a ride on the back of their motorbike to prostitution.
