Hotel Matejko in Krakow

Uitstekende prijs/kwaliteitverhouding. Ontbijtbuffet niet super.

Niet de 3 sterren die we in Nederland gewend zijn, maar zeker een redelijke hotel. Er is een beetje geluidsoverlast van buiten (maar niet dusdanig dat je er niet van kunt slapen/wakker van wordt). Verder is de prijs wat aan de hoge kant.

Excellent location for visiting Krakow, 5 minutes walk to the centre, and about the same from the main bus / train station. Good choice for breakfast, and very helpful staff, would stay again if visiting Krakow again.

Just a five-minute walk, if that, from the main Krakow train station and perhaps an interesting 12-minute walk to the city's main square. Very clean, roomy, friendly staff, superb breakfast. The only minus is that this small hotel does not have a computerized reservation system. At check in, the desk clerk asked for a credit card for incidentals and […] secuity (no problem in principle) but then wrote -- by hand -- the card number and expiration date on a paper hotel form. When I expressed concern about where that piece of paper might end up and who might be able to copy it, the clerk said the hotel needs to have the credit card information for security. I explained we similarily had a keen interest in protecting our credit card's security. The manager became involved. Same unresloved discussion. As a hotel, we'd certtainly recommend it. But if you're concerned about credit card security, you should probably go elsewhere, which is a shame. It's been nearly two weeks and no problems with our credit card. Lees meer

Hotel is very close to the main train station and is situated in a lovely square next to an old church. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The room we had was very spacious and had a big balcony. We were able to book all the trips we wanted through the hotel and for good value. Breakfast was very varied with something for everyone. Very clean and tidy, great location, all round good hotel. Most staff spoke good english too. Breakfast is basic but good

The hotel is very close to the train station that connects with the airport so no need for taxis. Also it is very close to the historic centre of Krakow and to a very large shopping centre. The staff were very helpful and the breakfast was fine - plenty of choice. All in all, a very good base from which to explore and extremely reasonably priced.

Everything was perfect. I would highly recommond this hotel. The location was perfect, the personal were really helpful , the breakfast was wonderful.

It is very close to the large shoppingmall, and the Old Town is only a 5 minute walk away. The breakfast quite good for price. So good value for money.

Nice and central to the old town (2 mins walk). The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very large and spacious and had all mod cons. Breakfast was nice and hearty. All round a great place to stay while exploring the city.

Really nice hotel right in the centre of the town. Staff was very helpful. Will definitely stay there again. One disadvantage is lack of hotel parking but if you don't have the car than there is no downside to this hotel.

My husband and I have not long returned from our stay in this hotel. We where here, Friday 13th January to Monday 16th. We used our own skills to find the hotel from the airport, how very easy indeed. Get the train from the airport, get off in the centre, cross the road bear left and your there. We checked in at 11am, so our room wasn't ready, but […] that wasn't a problem, we dropped our luggage off in the hotel as they have a luggage room, got our room key and started our adventure. We returned back to the hotel around 130pm, our room was ready, so up we went. Room 312, a double room with an extra single bed - winner! The bathroom was a large wet room. It had a brilliant shower, there was always hot water and the pressure of the water was great at all times. The room itself was large and very clean. It had sky TV with English channels which was good for some background sound when having a shower. The room was very warm, the heating was on. If you want it cooler, no problem, you control the heat. The massive windows also opened. The room was cleaned each day and fresh towels provided should you need them. We where there for 4 days and only had the room cleaned the once. The only very slight niggle I had with the room was, there were no tea/coffee or kettle. I am a creature of habbit and always regardless to how drunk or sober I am have a brew before bed. To be fair I didn't ask for a kettle, I just went to the tea shop every evening a bought a brew. Breakfast - I am a real foodie so never have a problem with finding something I like. If you are fussy, I still think you would enjoy breakfast here. Ok its not a full English, but your not in England. The choices were many, Tea, Coffee, juices and water. Plenty of cereal choices, lots of fresh yoghurt, Ham and cheeses, Scrambled Egg, Sausage, various choices of bread and a toaster. Lots of traditional Polish breakfast such as Pate, Pastries etc. Plenty of packets of Jam, Honey and REAL butter. We filled up at breakfast Lees meer

The reception staff couldn;t have been any more helpful. During our stay there were at least 3 different memebers of staff on the desk who offered to make calls for bookings and general information. The breakfast buffet is amazing, and the lcoation of the hotel is a couple of minutes walk to the main square in a nice quite location. Good location. Near old town, railway station. For this price, it was a good hotel. Clean rooms, good breakfast. I would say a typical *** hotel. Nothing to complain about :)

For anyone looking for somewhere to stay which is in a good location, clean and inexpenssive, this is the place. I arrived very early and accessing my room was not a problem. The room was large, clean and comfortable. The hotel has all of the basics you need. The Hotel Matejko was close to everything. Staff very pleasant and o'bliging.The rooms very clean but could do with been decorated .I would recommend to book around poland for airport transfers and trips they could not do enough for us and only cost a little extra

Great for the price. Hotel staff is really friendly and it's just 2 minutes to the mall and 2 minutes to the main square. Breakfast was also very good. They had Pastry, fruit, bread with jams, coffee, juice, rolls, vegetables, cheese, and meats. Bed was pretty comfortable and the bathroom was clean. I would stay there again.

The hotel was very quaint. The architecture in the surrounding area was magnificent. The staff was very helpful in arranging tours to Auscwitz, the Sale mines and the castle in the area.I would stay there again if I was to visit Krakow.

This hotel is very conveniently situated particularly if you want access to the train station or arrive from the airport by train. The rooms are quite adequate but there is no fridge or kettle to make tea or coffee. Breakfasts are quite adequate but rather ordinary. Reception desk staff very courteous and helpful. I was very pleasently surprised by this hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful for a start, the location was very central, only 5 mins walk from the main square, and the breakfast was decent. The rooms were large, clean and would easily be 5* in London. We had a balcony overlooking the street below as well.

hotel is located around the corner from the huge krakow mall adjacent to the train station. the bus to the salt mine is a one-minute walk from the hotel, as are trams going virtually anywhere.

Hotel is very nice and very near the main town square. The staff were very pleasant & helpful. Breakfast was excellent.

I stayed at this hotel about a year ago and had a lovely experience. I was very pleased that on returning, the Hotel Matejko had upped its game - making this stay even more delightful. Better sheets, better towels, better staff. Seemed strange they should put me on the fourth floor at the end of the corridor. Hotel did not seem very busy.? Same room last visit. Still I was on my own and got a nice big double bed, and very cheap. Very good heating. Only one English speaking TV channel ( BBC 24 news ). Good breakfast .

Excellent location, friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was good, room clean. The only criticism is that the sauna that's mentioned is in a hotel room, and if that room is booked noone else can use it - bit of a disappointment, but other than that, everything was fine.

This hotel is extremely well located, off a side street from the mall that serves the main train station(convenient airport train). It is also 20 yards away from the bus to Wieceska Salt Mine. Some inexpensive pubs and restaurants nearby makes this a find. The room are medium (not posh) functional but not basic. The bathrooms are beautifully tiled (where […] does one get blue grout from, excellent idea). This hotel is perfectly located, only a 10 minute walk away from the action, but just far enough to leave the hustle and bustle behind at night time. From our exploration of the city, I cant think of a better neighbourhood to be located in, and should the weather turn, there is an impressive shopping mall just a few hundred yards away. This Matejko hotel is ideally situated to explore the sights of krakow. It on a quiet square and within walking distance to the train station, the main square as well as a large shopping centre if you fancy some bargains! The staff were helpfull and friendly. Our stay would have been perfect if it had been available but the high temps are unusual for this time of year.The hotel bar shuts at 10 but there is one just a few doors down from the hotel if you did not want to stay on the main square. It is also a bit cheaper than main square prices.The breakfast was fine but if you were there for more than a couple of nights stay you may fancy a change! We had 2 rooms and even though one of them was on the front of the hotel, my daughter was not disturbed by noise or traffic. You can book excursions at the hotel but there is a booking office also on the same street. It is a bit cheaper but the group numbers are bigger. This hotel is very suitable for those who like to relax in their rooms after a long day sightseeing as we never heard the comings and goings of other guests. great hotel just 2 mins max to the main square but in a nice quite square its self, hotel very clean, nice big rooms, conti breakfast was very good, staff where very helpfull. i would defo recommend to any one.

Hotel was very comfortable, generous breakfasts, excellent staff. Location brilliant, just a short walk to main square and all attractions. Close to massive shopping mall. Close to train and bus stations. Only minor complaint was that hotel bar closes at 10pm, if you want a night cap but other bars close by.

Can't fault this hotel - should be a 4*. Was upgraded foc to a suite and it was beautiful. Amazing multi-task shower unit! Got stuck in Krakow when airspace shut due to volcanic ash and the hotel staff were really helpful. Local tourist office said my room rate was really competitive which made me happy. Buffet breakfast same each morning but more than […] adequate. Location brilliant, only few mins outside old city walls on corner of a picturesque square - what's more, it's just around the corner from the railway station (where airport train arrives). No frills here, but an excellent tourist hotel. The rooms were a bit dated but very clean, the bedding comfortable, the staff helpful, the location excellent. I called a day in advance to request a room facing the street and, upon arrival, was graciously accommodated. The breakfast buffet was simple and fresh and the portions available were more than […] ample. Minor drawback - the toiletries were of low quality and portioned small.
