Excellent location and great service

Wij verbleven maar 1 nacht in het hotel maar ik ben erg tevreden, vriendelijk en behulpsame personeel, goed ontbijt, mooie kamer, hotel is centraal gelegen.

Fantastic breakfast. Good central location for sights, metro. Athens is kind of grimy, but this hotel is an oasis from the heat and dirt. Be sure and check out the view from the roof.

We stayed there for a night before going on a cruise. Clean simple room and great breakfast buffet. We could see the Acropolis from our window! We also walked to the Plaka for dinner. Coming back from the cruise and we stayed in another "4 star" hotel to be closer to the Plaka. What a contrast! In comparison, Amalia is 2 stars higher than the other […] one. Visited during month of March 2012. Ideal location - airport express X95 stop just around corner on Syntagma Square. Easy access to all main sights - hop on and off buses stop just across road. Hotel opposite National Gardens - lovely cool place to stroll when hot. Superb buffet breakfast, loads of choice - hot and cold. Clean room - towels and flannels […] changed daily. Bed linen changed once during 6 day stay. Friendly and helpful staff. Would not hesitate to stay there again. Lees meer

we spent 4 night's in amalia hotel and it was en excellent vacation the hotel was very good , excellent breakfast, the sttaf was very kind /

Luxury hotel in a great part of town!

When I arrived I was very tired. They quickly got me into my room which I appreciated. At first I thought the room a little dated, but later realize it was the carpet that made it feel that way, however, I later realized it was just the color and it was really just about perfect. Not overly fancy, but extremely comfortable room that I would love stayin […] at again. The bathroom was very modern and well maintained. The bed was so comfortable sleep was no problem. The location couldn't have been better. It was less than a block from the airport bus stop at Syntagma (or Parlament) Square. Not even a 5 minute walk in a great neighborhood. I found the breakfast buffet to be over the top. NOt only did it have what you might call an English or American breakfast foods, but also many Greek dishes and items. I didn't even make a dent in trying everything during my 2 night stay. Yes, this is the right hotel or you. Lees meer

A friend and I stayed 4 nights at Amalia Hotel and really enjoyed it. It is in the perfect location with all the big sights within walking distance. The hotel and rooms are very nice with a modern look and the reception was really helpful. Don't forget to go to the roof and enjoy the amazing view over the city. Will highly recommend this hotel.

the rooms are spartan with very hard beds. The breakfast which is included is very good however there is no restaurant for dinner if you wish to stay in. The bathroom is comfortable with plenty of counter space and is modern. It is very convenient to sightseeing - all within walking distance. If the beds were more comfortable I could recommend it.

Excellently located for the marathon registration / shuttle buses and finish. Very impressed they put on an early breakfast too (5am!). Well located for the rest of Athens as well. Room was neat with big bed and good bathroom although the airconditioner wasn't working. Road outside the room is very loud with the window open. Everything was very easy […] and no problems at all. Very conveniently located between the Praka and Syntagma Square and within easy walking distance of both, even for a couple of seniors. The gesture of having complimentary hot coffee and cookies available in the lobby at the unearthly time of 4.00 a.m. as we had to carch an early flight was much appreciated.

We really liked this hotel. The staff were very profession and catered to our every need. We were with another group and we even received an upgrade so that our rooms were side by side. The hotel itself is ideally situated close to train stations, bus routes, museums, the Parliament ( a bit of a downside if there is rioting) great dining and shops. […] The buffet breakfast was excellent and is a definite bonus. Great location, great breakfast, great view! Everything you need in the heart of Athens.

Excellent hotel in excellent location, about 150 metres from X95 Airport bus stop and Syntigma Square. Walking distance to everything and great views from rooftop. Had a balcony room fronting Amalia Ave and Parliament and with balcony door closed no issues with noise

Everything about the hotel was excellent. Located about 150metres from X95 airport bus stop and Syntigma Square. Breakfast was very good and always able to easily obtain a seat and table. Although rooftop area was not in use as a bar or restaurant it was open and provided excellent views of the Acropolis and the city of Athens.

I had ants in my bathroom. The housekeeper gave me a can of raid.

The hotel was situated close to all sites including the acropolis, plaka etc. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Getting to and from the hotel was very convienient with buses and the metro, although had a bit of the nasty experience on the metro where my wallet was stolen from my handbag. The Amalia is located within walking distance of Hadrian's Gate, Temple of Zeus, the changing of the guard at Parliament and the Acropolis. We also walked to the New Acropolis Museum, the Agora, Filopappos Hill and the Panathenaic Stadium. The room was contemporary in design, very clean and quiet. The included breakfast is extensive. Surly, unhelpful staff. Right at heart of riots. Lingering teargas. You would think they would go out of the way to be helpful. I would never stay here again. Also, expensive with little value for money.

This is a great hotel and not expensive. Buffet breakfast was really good, plenty of selection. The hotel is withing walking distance to all the main sights, about 10 mins to New Acropolis Museum, where also the entry to the Parthenon is located. Close to the Plaka, Syntagma square, and virtually straight across the road from Temple of Zeus. There was […] no issues at all neighbourhood, even walking back later at night. Lees meer

The rooms were comfortable, with a safe and very good temperature control (neccesary in the heat!). The X95 airport bus stops 100m from the hotel - sooo convenient!! Would recommend to anyone!

The greeting at the reception was excellent, The room was very comfortable and clean. The breakfast which was included was the best we had on three weeks of touring Greece and Switzerland. Location excellent and Tram 50M from front door. Thanks to the Hotel and staff for a great stay

Amaila Hotel is extremely close to both Syntagma Square and the Plaka, and therefore makes a nice central locaton for touring. Breakfast buffet is ample, with many choices, although not all of equal quality. Stick with the Greek yogurt with fruit and honey toppings and the cereals. Immediate area around hotel is not as characterful as hotels in the […] Plaka, but those hotels generally have smaller rooms so there is a choice between spaciousness and location. Also, most CHAT tours and Gray Line tours leave from the Amalia lobby so it makes a convenient stay for those trips as well. Lees meer

The hotel was very good as well as a great location in Athens close to both Akropolis as well as the main shopping areas.

Clean, modern, convenient and reasonably priced.

The Amalia is in a great location being only 100 metres from Syntagma Square, the metro and airport bus(X95 route). We used the metro getting to the hotel from the airport and the X95 bus returning. From hotel door to Departures the bus beats the metro on time and convenience. It is more frequent and you avoid carrying your luggage up and down the metro […] stations. The only time the metro might be better is in rush hour. We left the hotel at 9.00am on a Friday and were checked in a few minutes after 10.00am. Rooms in the Amalia are a good size and spotless. Most face side streets and you will not have a view of the National Gardens but there are quieter than the front. Breakfast is a buffet with plenty of choices. Eating facilities in the hotel are limited but there are numerous restaurants/tavernas close by. Overall I think what makes the Amalia stand out is the location. It is within walking distance of the Acropolis and the new museum and a number of other museums/sites(Benaki, Cycladic, Agora etc.) To get further afield the metro, tram and numerous busses are on the doorstep. We stayed here right after Easter for a couple of days, the location is fantastic, right next to all the sights, we literally just walked around without needing any public transport. The people are super helpful adn friendly, adn the breakfast spread is great. The rooms are very comfortable, they even upgraded us for free as we requested a double bed […] when we had been given a twin. Great stay, would recommend wholeheartedly. Lees meer

The Amalia offers very good value for the cost. The full breakfast (free) is a real benefit -- would cost Euro 10 - 15 elsewhere. The rooms are not very large or luxurious, but neither is the cost large. We were very satisfied, overall.

Amalia was an excellent stay for us. Conveniently located (close to all major sites), friendly and helpful staff, beautiful breakfast and the price is unbeatable. We stayed in numerous hotels throughout Greece and Athens and paid much more everywhere else for poorer quality. We kept saying over and over "we wish we were back at the Amalia". Note that […] the rooms are "European style" meaning small rooms, small beds on the hard side and strange shower set up. But much better than other 4 star hotels in that price range. I had a 3 nights stay at Amalia hotel. The location is perfect and the hotel in nice and clean. Breakfast was good. Eventhough the hotel is located on a main street with lots of traffic, my room was very quiet. I would definitly stay in this hotel when I am back in Athens.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Amalia Hotel. The Hotel appeared to have been recently refurbished and was beautiful. The breakfast was hands down the best hotel breakfast we have ever had anywhere in the world - the selection was unbelievable. The best part of the hotel is it's location - literally in the heart of Athens one block from the Syntygma […] Square metro station, 10 minutes walk from the Acropolis, 2 blocks from the amazing cobblestone streets of the Plaka historic neighborhoods and restaurants, etc. The rooms were clean, the bathrooms literally the best I've had at a hotel in Europe. Although the fact that we had to pay a small fee for wireless internet each day was a little annoying but they gave us a password that worked for all three days and we paid at checkout - pretty easy! Make sure you visit the rooftop observation deck of the hotel at sunrise and sunset to get some amazing shots of the Parthenon/Acropolis. Also, the National Gardens are right across the street and they make for a beautiful afternoon stroll. We HIGHLY recommend this hotel and kept saying to one another throughout the weekend how impressed we were with the hotel. Thanks Hotel Amalia! Lees meer

We have been in Amlia hote during mid December 2010. We injoyed our stay very much. The service was perfect. the location was wonderfull. I recommened everyone to visit this hotel

Very well situated near to Syntagama Square metro and within walking distance of Acropolis and Plaka. Decent size room, clean and good quality fittings. Helpfull staff who spoke good English. Breakfast had many options from standard English eggs and bacon to Greek yougurt and figs. Roof lounge not open but we went to the cocktail bar in Hotel Grand […] Bretagne instead and enjoyed great views. Lees meer

We had a day to spend in Athens before a 6am flight out. The hotel is within walking distance to the Acropolis and other historic sites. The room is comfortable and adequate. The view wasn't wonderful but we didn't spend too much time in the room. The staff was informative and friendly and the wake up call was perfectly on time.
