Holiday Inn Express Evanston in Evanston

Over all a good hotel. The staff was nice (although when the deck clerk addressed us he looked over my head to address my husband) The hotel was clean rooms, grounds, entry and hallways. The bed was clean but not all that confortable for either of us. The room had a jacuzzi and it was in need of maintenance the craftmanship of the walls and surround […] was shooty and in need of fixing. The entire building was in need of work inside and out. Gaps wall joints and missing trim and ripped wall paper. The bath tub made a horrible creeking and poping sound as you stood and moved to take a shower (and I weigh 120 pounds). Lees meer

This was a very nice facility for the city it was in. The only thing I wish they would do is update their TV's I am sure that is coming. Very comfortable rooms and a nice lobby TVs everywhere. Food was also good.

I only gave the comfort a 4 because hotel beds are always uncomfortable and the shower floor squeaked. The rest of the experience was great, especially the continental breakfast. Lots to choose from and plenty of protein, not just carbs and sugar. Great experience.

This particular hotel did not meet my expectations of the Holiday Inn Express chain. the building itself was old and in need of updates, particularly to the elevator. Rooms were small and not entirely welcoming. Also had a run-in with an abundance of cleaning staff (at 4 in the afternoon) being rowdy in the halls. While this is not in itself a bad thing, […] the fact that the halls were too tight to get around the horseplay made this a very uncomfortable situtation. I do not plan on returning to this particular location. I'd expect to pay at most half for these accommodations. Buyer beware. Lees meer

I was in Evanston for business. My room accommodated my computer/internet needs without any issues. Exercise room is sufficient and the continental breakfast goes beyond pastries and cold cereal. I would recommend this hotel.

The family and I had an excellent stay at this hotel. The hotel looked new, had fantastic service, clean rooms, great pool and hot tub, nice breakfast room. I don't have a negative thing to say about this hotel.

Hotel was on the newer side. Very inviting lobby. Room was very clean and bathroom large. I found our room was close to the highway and I didn't hear any traffic but I did turn on the fan for white noise just in case. Breakfast was great and had a very nice variety. The woman who checked us in was extremely nice and patient. She recieve several calls […] while checking us in from people in need of different things. She took all requests with a very sincere accomodating attitude. I would have gotten irritated by all these needy people. I would definately stay again. Lees meer

This hotel was very well maintained. All of the staff we encountered were very friendly, even to providing me with an additional comforter for the bed. My only problem was that I was told the suite was 2 separate rooms and in fact it was not. It had a 3 foot divider "wall" between sitting room and beds. Not at all what I expected. The newly updated rooms with "Simply Smart" decor were definitely a favorite. The "triple sheeting" design means that unlike traditional hotels, there is no bedspread. For me, that was a huge plus. Traditional bedspreads are not laundered with each new guest, and are often a huge source of bacteria and grodiness. The Holiday Inn Express (HIX)starts […] with a white (designer) sheet, then a white down comforter, and tops it with another white (designer) sheet. The top and bottom sheets ensure that no body parts touch the comforter and create a very crisp, clean, not-too-warm-or-cold comfort during sleep. In fact, the bed was such an attraction that I neglected the other furniture in my suite. There was a couch, coffee and end tables, padded bench, chair with footrest and desk. These were great additions, and gave a variety of options to me and my husband. The TV was a traditional tube television. It would be nice to see HIX complete their updating by switching out the old TVs and replacing with flat-screens. It was nice to find an integrated video game system, complete with some free games and some pay-per-hour games. There was a great selection of on-demand movies, including some still in theaters. The only disappointment in this whole stay was the continental breakfast. While HIX touts a new selection of cheese omlets, sausage, bacon, "fluffy eggs", "fresh-baked cinnamon rolls", fruit, cereal with milk choices, yogurt, variety of breakfast breads, juice, tea and coffee, only 50% or so of these items were palatable. The obvious cereal, fruit and breakfast breads were as expected, considering they were either pre-packaged or delivered. Our first morning the hot selections were bacon, scrambled "eggs", biscuits and gravy and cinnamon rolls. The bacon was hardly bacon at all, with each paper-thin strip bearing evidence of being warmed in the microwave. Breakast was great, swimming pool was great (although a little cold), the only complaint is that the floors in the rooms seemed dirty. The bottoms of our feet were always dirty, even after a shower.

Extremely helpful and accommodating staff. Gave clear directions and recommendations for restaurants and destinations. Upgraded us at no extra charge. The breakfast buffet server was constantly running to restock everything before it ran out completely. Clean hotel.
