Holiday Inn Express Maspeth in Maspeth

Dit hotel geboekt omdat de recensies toch redelijk goed waren en de prijs een stuk later ligt dat de meeste hotels in New York. Helaas is onze ervaring met dit hotel toch wat minder. Belangrijkste minpunten (1) locatie, (2) klantvriendelijkheid en (3) geluidsoverlast. Hieronder een korte toelichting. Het eerste contact met het hotel was gelijk minder. […] Bij aankomst op het vliegveld (LaGuardia) het hotel gebeld waar we hun shuttle service konden vinden. De reactie van het hotel was dat de shuttle kapot was en dat we maar een taxi moesten nemen. De kosten van de taxi hebben we geprobeerd te declareren bij het hotel, maar hiertoe waren ze vreemd genoeg niet bereid. Bij aankomst in het hotel vroegen we om een kamer op een wat hogere verdieping om zo geluidsoverlast te voorkomen, hun reactie was dat ze al een kamer voor ons hadden gereserveerd in de kelder, het leek duidelijk dat ze het er gewoon om deden. Naast lawaai van buiten had onze kamer als groot nadeel dat het naast de machinekamer van de lift stond, de hele nacht door hoorden we de motoren aan slaan, dit was een grote tegenvaller. Wat betreft de locatie, het dichtstbijzijnde metrostation is op enkele kilometers afstand, dit is dus niet te lopen. Je moet dus eerst met de bus of taxi naar het metrostation. Al met al ben je met het openbaar vervoer snel een uur onderweg van het hotel naar centrum Manhattan (mogelijk net wat sneller als je van de shuttle service gebruik kan maken die bij ons kapot was, maar deze is normaal ook alleen beschikbaar vanaf het hotel en dus niet op de terugweg). Het hotel aan zich is prima, wat ontbreekt is een goede verbinding naar Manhattan. De free-shuttle is beperkt(alleen doordeweeks 's om 9, 11, 13 en 15u heen), men dient hoofdzakelijk met een bus(1x per uur) of een taxi van/naar de metro te reizen.

My stay was excellent, I was close to family and able to get to subways very easily to get to NY..

The shuttle service to the train station only runs from Monday to Friday between 8am and 6pm. It is a drop off service to the Woodhaven Blvd station. We were at the hotel on Easter Monday and the shuttle was not operating so the hotel staff arranged for a car to pick us up - at no charge to us. The hotel is a thirty minute walk from the nearest subway […] station (61st-Woodside) and from there you can take the 7 train to Manhattan in under twenty minutes. People in NY often refer to the subway as the train. The subway is the best way to get around the city; per ride it costs $2.75 or an unlimited 7 day pass is $29. In the evening your return options to the hotel are walking, bus or take a taxi which will cost approximately twelve dollars. Breakfast was good value and is served from 6.30am to 9.30am. Our flight did not leave until the evening. The hotel has a secured area where they kept our bags as we enjoyed our last day in the city. If you are flying from LGA the hotel provides a free shuttle. For flights to and from JFK you can take a taxi ($35 from the hotel) or take the E line to Sutphin Blvd/Archer Ave and take the air train to the airport. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone coming to NYC for a vacation. It was given a good rating so I booked it, not knowing it was in a REALLY BAD NEIGHBORHOOD, to say the least. There are no yellow cabs that come to this area. You are stuck taking a private car to the subway or to catch a yellow cab to get downtown Times Square. It took us two hours to get into Manhattan. First, we had to walk to the bus stop, then take the correct bus to the subway station, then transfer a bunch on the Subway. The hotel only offers shuttle service monday-friday until 6PM, and ONLY there, not back. We stayed here for over two weeks. The hotel is about 3 years old and in good condition. The staff was just wonderful and very accommodating. All the employees were very helpful and friendly. Hotel is neat and front desk staff is very friendly. Shuttle takes you to the nearest subway station during the weekdays, but you have to take the bus or taxi during the weekends. Taxi was <$20 /w tip from the Woodheaven subway station to the hotel. Also, if you don't mind the traffic, parking in Manhattan is not too expensive during the weekends. This is definitely a hotel for someone who's visiting NYC in a car. It's a quick and cheap alternative to anything in Brooklyn or Manhattan. I would recommend it for someone visiting a friend or family in Queens, Brooklyn or Manhattan. The parking is free. Decent free breakfast in the morning. The surrounding neighborhood is industrial. There isn't […] a subway nearby. Williamsburg is about 10 minutes away. And NYC's Lower East side is less than 20 minutes away. Rooms are very clean and comfortable and staff very nice and friendly.

had a problem with the heat system could not turn it off or lower the heat. only good thing about it was the temps that night were low. shower did not work had to take a bath in morning.couldn't get much help from housekeeping.

This hotel is nice and near the city. Ample parking space if you drive. Shuttle service to the subway is available every hour and city bus that runs normal service hours too.

Hotel staff was very courteous and accomodating. Breakfast was pretty good-I've never known eggs to be good at a hotel, but the pancakes and sausage were delish! Only disconnect was from housekeeping, but I think it was genuinely just lost in translation. Great for business stays and overnights. The hotel is very convenient to Manhattan (esp. if you're driving) Midtown Tunnel is right there and 59th St. Bridge is very close too if you don't want to pay the toll. being a new yorker I do appreciate the location of the hotel and the convenience of parking in the hotel. it is a decent hotel very close to Manhattan and easy reach by car. The neighbourhood is industrial but to me a new yorker used to new york- queens and Bklyn neighbourhoods , it is okay. We visited New York December 16th-19th, and decided to stay in Queens the first night to be more cost effective. When we opened the door to out room, it was much bigger than my initial thought. It was spacious, clean, and cozy..and most of all, easy on my wallet. Breakfast was served each morning until 9:30. It was a good variety, better than other […] places. A shuttle runs ON THE WEEK DAYS, from the airport and also to the nearest subway station. Check-in isn't until 3, and they will charge you $10 for every hour you receive a room early...but they will gladly store your luggage, at no additional charge, while you go out and view the city. I would absolutely reccommend this hotel to anyone. BE AWARE: under New York law, all guests will be charged a $50 fee upon check-in to ensure nothing is damaged in the guests room, depending upon room condition, you will get the money back in 5 to 7 days. the only reason to stay here is to beat the price of Manhattan. there are no subway stops within walking distance. the rooms and the hotel were fine, but the location and accessibility proved to be somewhat inconvenient

I booked a One King Bed Nonsmoking room. This is the description listed on this site. The actual room has no King anything. The bed I believe is a full size although the room has some decent space. I asked the front desk about the size discrepancy & she said it's all about what you selected when you book through hotels.com. This is my 3rd time staying at this place per the recommendation of a co-worker... They will not even try to search for my Priority Club memebership since I did not have the card on me. I stayed for 2 nights and they only programmed my key for 1 night. What an inconveneince to arrive to your room after a long day loaded with bags to find your key is […] not working! They gave me a room in below-level floor and claimed that this was the ONLY room available. The fitness room was supposed to be open until 10:00PM and the electronic lock would not open at 9:00pm (maybe they forgot to set their time saving properly!). When the lady in the GPS told me that I had arrived at the address I thought she was lying because the neighborhood wasn't great. However, the hotel is a great place to stay. Free parking, the hotel clerk went out of his way to help, the room was very comfortable and the TV was huge! I would recommend this place to anyone and will definitely return […] on my next trip. I purposely booked hotel for the convenience of shuttle to airport and subway station. The shuttle only operates weekdays and is only once an hour. I only learned that when I needed to go to airport on Saturday morning and had to take a car service that the hotel called at a fare of $22 to LGA airport. An oasis in a busy, slightly industrial area.

We stayed here & took cabs over to the theatre district, much more affordable, great rooms & services.

The GPS could not find this location too easily. But once we got there we could put in the side street closest to it and we did ok. The neighborhood was ok. Right behind a BP gas station with panel trucks parked on both sides of the street not making for a nice view. The hotel and staff were very nice and friendly. We stayed for 3 nights. The only problem we had was on our last night we came back to the hotel after 10pm and there were no parking spots left so we had to park out in the street. Parking was free by the way. Breakfast was also free and they had a variety of healthy choices every morning. Also we had the front desk call for a car service for us to take us to our daughter's apt because we didn't want to drive into Manhattan and there isn't any convienient public transportation nearby. It was very pricey for the driver to take us 15 min away! Our return trip via a non-hotel associated service was half that....so beware of that. And the front desk asked us for our room number - I got a little suspicious of that...now they knew we were gone....we had no problem but as I say I was a little concerned when we got back. This is a very micely maintained hotel.. very clean and well maintained.. Very close to LGA and to NYC Do not know enough of the surroundings but it all looked fairly safe.

Excellent Hotel. Very Clean, NEW = only 2 years old, and great location. Shuttle takes you to Manhattan and then NEW Clean, Safe and Well Lit Train Cars take you to Manhattan in 20 minutes. The trains are NEW and the price is only $2.50 one way. nice hotel. very close to the city roughly $20.00 to downtown manhattan ... the room was clean but the towels are a bit rough and the shower is hard to figure out how to turn on the shower head ... the house keepers knock really loud so if you're young and went partying the night before make sure to put the "DO NOT DISTURB" on the door because they […] will keep knocking overall a great experience. good on site parking & close to the highway so you can get around easily. We booked this hotel because of the shuttle service to the airport, but at check in they said that the shuttle doesn't run on the weekends. So just a warning to the rest of you. We were also told that their car service could take us for $18 but we were charged $25. Even though the location seems to be very good on the map, especially for international travelers who would like to use public transportation it is the worst. No taxi takes you to Maspeth from Manhattan and no bus stop or subway close to the hotel exist. I believe the service and conditions of the hotel were just as they were described on hotels.com. I found it standard clean and the Hotel staff is very polite. the only problem that at times u can hear the noise that people on making infont of your door.

The web description was a little misleading. Although only 6 miles from Manhattan - subway takes 40 minutes and the hotel is 2 miles away from the nearest stop. They will shuttle you there but will not pick you up, so returning you have to find a cab to go the 2 miles (not walkable due to the freeway). The shuttle is the same one as the airport shuttle […] and we were told both of them pick up on the hour, every hour, which is impossible. They were within 15 minutes of this for the subway shuttle, however, I needed to call to be picked up at the airport. Two of the women working the front desk on two different days were rude. One in particular acted like she hated her job. I saw her leave the hotel at one point and just walk outside. She paid little attention to people waiting at the desk for assistance and moved incredibly slow. She had an attitude that she made very visible. I wish I would have gotten her name. She was awful. It is nice that the hotel offers free breakfast and wifi (which did work just fine in our room) but with how poorly we were welcomed and treated when we needed something and the hassle it was to come back to the hotel after being in Manhattan, I would not stay again. Many cabs would not take us back to Queens from Manhattan so it was hard late at night to get back. And the area surrounding the hotel is not that nice. The man who drove the shuttle, however, was great. We loved him! He was really nice and friendly. This hotel would probably work better for people bumming around Queens than going into Manhattan everyday. Not great for tourists. Lees meer
