Het hotel is erg gunstig gelegen, ca 10 minuten wandelen van zowel de brug over de Golden Horn als de blauwe moskee en dergelijke. De kamer is niet groot maar erg schoon en dagelijks worden zowel handdoeken als beddengoed verschoond. Leuk hotel, schoon, aardige mensen, midden in het oude Istanbul. Ik zou er zo weer heen gaan.

Hotel Agan ligt in een voetgangersgebiedje met veel hotels en populaire restaurantjes. Veel terrasjes - met straalkachels voor als het koud is. Bij elk terras lopen mannen die toeristen de zaak binnen loodsen; dat doen ze met humor en na een tijdje ken je ze allemaal. Hotel Agan ligt op een hoek met aan beide zijden een terras met dikke kussens waar […] mensen een avond kunnen doorbrengen, al of niet met waterpijp. Het - sympathieke - restaurant aan de overkant van de straat heeft een dakterras waar een enthousiast Turks bandje optrad. De eerste avond genoten we ervan; het dakterras lag wel op gelijke hoogte met onze hotelkamer. Tot ongeveer 00.30 uur is er - door het bandje en door muziek van andere etablissementen - veel lawaai en is slapen lastig; daarna is het rustig en is er ook weinig verkeersgeluid. Dit is dus geen hotel voor mensen die voor middernacht naar bed willen. Het hotel is goed verzorgd en de staf is plezierig. Het heeft een restaurant waar 's ochtends ook het ontbijt is. Het ontbijtbuffet is goed - van de Turkse elementen erin (olijven, komkommer, tomaten) maakten wij wat minder gebruik en ook van de doorgekookte Turkse thee moet je houden. Maar met broodjes, yoghurt, kaas, jam, koffie gekookt ei en meestal ook roerei en worstjes e.d. is het ook goed ontbijten. De kamers zijn niet overdreven groot (behalve luxekamer 201, die een zitje heeft) maar zijn schoon, evenals de badkamer. Een en ander is relatief nieuw: meubels, badkamerinrichting, bedden, deuren en vensters. De bedden hebben dikke matrassen die behoorlijk hard zijn - daar moet je van houden. Dan nog een klein puntje: het hotel en het restaurant zijn rookvrij; toch hangt er nogal eens een rookluchtje bij de receptie en in de gang; blijkbaar rookt het personeel af en toe tijdens het werk. Als je daar gevoelig voor bent kan dat een minpuntje zijn. Op de kamers heb je er geen last van. Ik wasaangenaam verrast over de prijs/kwaliteit verhouding van dit hotel. Naast een zeer vriendelijk en hulpvaardig personeel ook nog een uitgebreide menukaart (met korting voor de gasten). Daarnaast liggen de meeste bezienswaardigheden op loopafstand (anders een tramhalte op ca 300m) Mijn volgende verblijf in Istanbul is zeker in hotel Agan.

We were delighted with this hotel. It is an older hotel but has been somewhat updated and is a great value. We could walk to many major attractions including ferry boats, Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque, etc. Breakfast was crowded but good. hotel was clean, staff was helpful, room was nice...air conditioningworked well . gave me a suite when i had reserved a room for 1. decent breakfast included. withing walking distance to all sites in old city...also close to tram. dont hesitate to stay here...was very well worth it.

Very good place to stay, close to tram line and all the major sights. Everyone here was terrific in making sure we had a great time in Istanbul. Perfect for that pre cruise stay!

service of all staff was first class

The hotel is located in an area with lots of other hotels, close to two stations on the streetcar line. You can walk to the sights in Old Istanbul. The main problem is the noise from the nightclubs at night. If that's not a problem for you, then this hotel is good value for your money.

Very friendly and helpful staff, the rooms were comfortable and for breakfast they put out a very nice spread. The location is very good if you are arriving by train, it's only a few blocks from Sirkeci station. Very good situation within walking distance of major sights. Ample breakfast and helpful staff. The only drawback for us oldies was the noisy background music (?) which was mainly for the benefit of young staff, it seems.

Fantastic location, clean rooms and friendly staff. The street is noisy until about 2am so if you like to go to bed early it may not be the best place for you. Staff in restaurants in the surrounding area pester you which can be annoying. My experience at Hotel Agan was positive and I would definitely consider staying there again.

Great and convenient location close to lots of the sights in the old town, and near a nice stretch of restaurants and bars. It was a little annoying that the A/C was constantly on if the electricity in the room was on, since it got kind of chilly in there at times, but otherwise the hotel was clean and good.

7 min walk to must-see sights like Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque. Gulhane, Metro stop just few steps down. The hotel is ina very lively fun area. with hooka/ sheesha/ water piupe bars, restaurants (Faros) and coffee shops (red river pub) around. The breakfast was basic with boiled eggs, breads, coffee, tea, nutella, cheese, some meats, olives, but for […] a 2 star hotel it was worth the price. The rooms were clean but very small, but again worth the price. The hotel staff was helpful and called for a flat rate cab to airport. (55TL for 5 people). So long as you stay at Hotel Agan with expectations that match the price I wouldn't think you'd be disappointed. The location is excellent: very close to Gulhane tram stop and easy walking distance to the Galata Bridge and also Sultanahmet main tourist sites. One slight downside to the location is that the area is full of restaurants which are fairly […] noisy until 11pm, but on the plus side it’s a thriving little neighbourhood. The hotel is comfortable: I stayed alone in a twin room which was about the right size, if there were two people I suspect it would have felt small. The cleanliness of the room and modern bathroom was immaculate which is more important to me than size. The hotel is in a great shape: attentive staff, renovated rooms, just a few blocks to all major attractions in Sultanhamet district. It has a restaurant, which serves very nice food and is reasonably priced. Unfortunately, there are many other restaurants around this hotel and the level of noise is such that we were unable to fall asleep until 2 - 3 […] am on both days that we stayed there. My husband is a very sound sleeper, but even he found it impossible to sleep under these conditions. The AC was still off in early May, so we had to open the window to get some fresh air, which only made things worse from the noise point of view. We tried to close the window, but this did not really help much. What a pity! Such a great hotel overall, but if you can't get a decent night sleep, the rest of the day is not much fun. I suspect there might be some rooms that do not face the street, and noise conditions might be better there, but I don't know that for sure. Hopefully the hotel management gets around to installing some double windows to cut of the noise - once they do that, this hotel will be an ideal stay in Istanbul. This hotel looks to be like many of the hundreds of small hotels in the historic district. Room was adequate in size. Bathroom was large. Room and bathroom were clean. Internet worked -- a bit slow, but it worked. Breakfast was normal continental breakfast. No hot food, but lots of cold dishes. Only two concerns: 1. Be prepared to carry your luggage to the hotel. 2. Be sure to confirm that the room is paid for when you check in. I did not do this. On the morning of my early departure from the hotel they claimed that there was no record of my paying them. They wanted me to pay a second time. The hotels in along this street attract a lot of tourists and have many cushioned low seating areas where you can eat, drink and smoke a hookah if you like. People seem to really enjoy the atmosphere, but the laughter and singing of the revelers can be heard from the hotel room; if you're a light sleeper, this might not be the place for you. Agan is a small hotel in a great location for walking to tourist sites and shopping. Young staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast quite extensive. Outdoor dinner service at 10% off was tasty and fun. Made our first trip to Istanbul very pleasant.

Agan hotel is only 3 minutes walk from the nearest tram stop, which provides an excellent cheap and regular service around Istanbul, and about 10 minutes easy walk to the Galata Bridge and the Hagia Sophia/Blue Mosque area. The rooms are a little cramped but clean with modern bathroom facilities. Breakfast was good and included, and there was the option […] of sitting outside on turkish-style seats. The staff were very friendly. Our only minor complaint was that we were not provided with a top sheet on the bed, just a a rather heavy duvet, and when we first asked for a sheet were given 4 pillow cases! The service is poor. Stayed 5 nights, but they never changed bed sheets.

The hotel was near most of the "must-see" sights. However, I wasn't satisfied with the room. The bed was uncomfortable, there was visible dirt under the bed, the bedding was ripped and the cleaning ladies didn't come and clean our room not even once during the 4 days we stayed there. We spent our first two nights in Turkey at the Hotel Agan and found it met all our needs. Our room was comfortable with a lovely bathroom and nice views of the rooftops of Istanbul. The breakfast was generous and we could sit out on the cushioned area by the street to eat it and watch the world go by. We also enjoyed lots ot apple tea and Efes beer […] there but realised that the prices for this are higher than elsewhere also the constant touting for business by the hotel staff can be amusing or annoying depending on how you view it. The hotel location is fantastic we could walk to the spice bazaar, the blue mosque, Aya Sophia and Beyoglu ( the funky neighbourhood across the Galata bridge) or the tram is very close if you don't feel like walking. The only thing I would say is don't ask the hotel staff for restaurant recommendations as they sent us to the most overpriced touristy place in town and we were too jet lagged to notice until it was too late! Very great locationn, justt 2 mins to tram stop, 5 mins to ferry station, and within walking distance to all most must see spots. Surounding neibhood full of activities and secure the safty in the area. Room is clean and so of delicate. And could have a good deal on the priice from Hotels.com

What a little gem. We booked this hotel after sifting through reviews on this site and were not dissapointed. Although we were initially a little apprehensive due to the look of the area, this was quickly dispelled after a walk up to the main tourist hub. Rooms are quıte nıce and for a decent prıce. A lıttle small but you get a nıce lıttle flat screen TV and very clean. Good A/C too. Breakfast ıs only for lıke 2.5hrs ın the mornıng so make sure you dont mıss ıt, ıts free! Locatıon was ok. You can easıly walk to Topkapı Palace, Blue Mosque, Grand Bazaar. Taksım square ıs only a small taxı rıde away. […] Theres lots of lıttle restaurants around the hotel and a good ınternet cafe nearby, just ask one of the hotel guys for dırectıons. The hotel has a great location, in the middle between all must-see old town attractions and the bridge leading to the more modern part. About 10 minutes walk. Neighbourhood full of little hotels, restaurants and bars. I wouldn't choose any other neighbourhood to stay over this one. Our room was pretty, bathroom nice and clean. Good place to relax and […] rest. Wonderfull sofas outside in front of the hotel, great to relax after a day of sightseeing. Breakfast was OK - pastry, jams, cheese, olives, vegetables, salads. Transportation - well connected with the airport, no need for taxi. Tram and metro take no more than 30 minutes and cost 3TL which is probably about 1.50euro. Now, although the hotel offers 20% discount on food and drinks to all guests, they will charge you full price unless you demand the discount out loud.(even if they know you are the hotel guest!) Even then, it's very problematic to calculate the discount properly..usually they will just take the random amount of 50 euro cents off you bill !!! They shouldn't offer the discount if they don't really want to give it!! Overall, I would stay in this hotel again and definitely would recommend it. Lees meer

The hotel was more than we expected. In great location close to shops and sights. Helpful staff pointed us in the right direction with maps. It is on rather loud street where ppl tend to hang out to eat and drink. However the windows are very sound proof so after I closed the window and turned on the AC everything was just great!

Very nice location along with very nice surroundings. All main attractions just around the area. I would recommand this hotel.

I wouldn't stay at this hotel again although it is close to the major attractions. I disliked the bathroom very much.

You can't beat the hotel's location and value. The breakfast was not the best, but there are many shops close by.

The staff were very thoughtful and cheerful. Englısh was understood and all were more than helpful to make my stay pleasant. The breakfast was typıcal of Turkısh breakfast, but I was amazed wıth the qualıty of the dınıng room food. Wıthout a doubt the evenıng meals here are of the hıghest qualıty and the prıce was a bargaın to say the least.

This was a great place to stay. Rooms were a bit small, but Ok. The location was great(close to all the sites to see) and the staff was very friendly and helpful.A fun, friendly and upbeat atmosphere for all visitors!

Good location to most attractions. Blue Mosque, Aysophia museum, grand bazaar, spice market, and sea port are all in walking distance. I can also walk to tram and train stations. Hotel provides slippers, sewing threads, soaps, shower caps which are good things to have from a 2-star hotel. Sijainti loistava; lähellä suosituimpia nähtävyyksiä. Ratikka kulki myös läheltä. Hotelli sivukadulla, jonne ei kuulunut liikenteen melu. Henkilökunta ystävällistä. Siisti hotelli. Ekana iltana meidät majoitettiin huoneisiin, joissa yksi leveä vuode. Mutta seuraavana aamuna saimme tilauksemme mukaiset huoneet erillisillä vuoteilla.

L'hôtel est très bien situé, à deux pas des prncipaux monuments. L'arrêt de tram est à deux pas également. On peut accéder à pied en 10 minutes aussi bien à Ste Sophie qu'à l'embarcadère des croisières sur le Bosphore et au pont Galata. Les chambres sont très petites mais propres, un peu bruyantes le soir . La salle de bain avec douche propre aussi. […] Le personnel est très aimable. Rum: Sängar hårda, går ej att sova i. Rummen är väldigt små, man kan knappt vända sig. Restaurangen är ett skämt. Vad du än gör ät inte där .Personalen oproffsiga, otrevliga och har ingen som helst service känlsa. Frukosten var ett skämt.
