Amazing breakfast, staff and building

Very helpful, warm and friendly staff! Jr suite was not huge but was well appointed and very clean. (I was excited with washcloth in bathroom as they're pretty scarce in Europe) The salt water fish tank in the lobby is amazing. Vicki at the front desk and the doorman were both awesome to us. She sat with us & helped us map out the trams to take to get […] to the sights we wanted to see. The next day, I had to ask her again how to get to the tram station and was she patient & sweet. We were even loaned a laptop on our last evening after mentioning we wished we would have brought our computer with us. The hotel was able to provide car service to the train station and it was reasonable. We were very grateful as it was raining & yucky out. The hotel is located one street away from the beautiful river that runs through Prague. We took a walk along the river after dinner. Many pairs of ducks & swans approached us & it was clear they were all looking for food. If we ever make it back, we'll definitely stay at the Hotel General again and will bring some treats along for our feathered friends. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Hotel General to anyone. What would have otherwise been an outstanding experience was undercut by a room that was way too small for the king-size bed that literally devoured the room. The room named for Eugene of Savoy, an accomplished general for the Austrian Empire, was cramped for space. Ask for a larger room. The staff was exceptionally helpful, the breakfast was delightful […] and the location was acceptable. The clenliness and other aspects of the hotel itself were all quite good. Great place to stay in Prague! Was there for a week for a few days of tourism with my wife and a meeting and the Congress Center. We typically like to walk when in a new city and we couldn't have been happier with the location of the hotel for this purpose. Walked everywhere - the castle, old town, Charles bridge. Prague has a central downtown square area and this is not in it. However, a tram (2 blocks walk) or a cab can get you down there in no time and that's pretty reasonable. I booked this hotel because it was a 5 star with a great deal. I knew it was a mile from the center area but I wasn't concerned since it's close enough. (I didn't do it but you could […] even walk the about 1 mile into downtown along the river which is two blocks from the hotel. I bet that's a real nice walk). Note, that I read many reviews on Prague Hotels and read many complaints about small rooms so I went for the 5 stars to mitigate that issue. The Hotel General, as per its name, is a military General themed's hotel in that there is apparently a portrait of a general in every room. I got Edward Lee, i.e. Robert E. Lee. Hmmm. Anyway, who cares. Points: The service and professionalism of the hotel staff is unassailable. They really do care about the quality of the service etc. The Hotel is very well kept. Relative small and elegant. By European hotel standards the bed was comfortable (they're often like bricks). As fairly typical in Europe, a real nice gourmet breakfast is included. Rooms have a personal safe, TV (not much in English...did you come to Prague to watch TV?!) Very nice style, clean, nice bathroom, etc. When I want, they didn't have WiFi in each room but did have a Ethernet cable (i.e. standard RJ45 connector). They are currently contracting to have WiFi in each room and they can lend you a shared loaner laptop. There's not much to say about the area around the hotel in particular at night. So, you would expect to leave the hotel and pretty much not come back until you were going to turn in. That worked fine for me. Lees meer

We stayed 5 nights at this hotel and can honestly say that it was the nicest stay that we have ever had. The staff contributed enormously to the whole experience and really could not have done more to make our stay more pleasant. The hotel itself is very comfortable - we had the most amazing power shower which was very welcome after the long days of […] sightseeing and the complimentary toiletries were of a very high quality. Also the temperature control int he room actually seemed to work, surely a first! Room service was offered at no extra charge althouh we never felt the need to use it! Breakfast was great - a buffet style with an additional menu to choose from all at no extra cost. Every member of staff spoke English fluently and were happy to help at any point in the day and with anything including getting stamps and mailing our postcards for us. We drank in the bar on a few nights which was very cosy and had a large selection of drinks. We ordered lots of cocktails and the mojitos were delicious! In terms of location, although not in the centre, it is a short walk (15 mins) from key sites or a few minutes on the trams which are cheap and easy to use. I wouldn't let this put you off as it's quite nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of the main touristy places. I couldn't actually think of any recommendations as our stay was so lovely. This is one of the nicest hotels I have stayed in. There s great attention to detail in the way the hotel is laid out and organized, and the staff was some of the friendliest and most attentive I have ever encountered. The location is a little out of the city center, but I liked that, as the city was very busy with tourists and tour groups and it was […] nice to get away from that. The hotel is very close to the river, and there are two tram lines that run into the historic center of old Prague. Riding the tram is part of the fun of being there. Breakfast was included and was a buffet and a menu choice. This was a hotel where I felt well looked after and catered for, and very comfortable and relaxed. Highly recommended. Lees meer

Staying at the Hotel General was a wonderful experience. The staff was very attentive, friendly, and spoke English very well. The room (we stayed in the Julius Caesar Suite) was beyond all expectations. Also, the breakfast was excellent! You can park out front for for a small daily fee, but for a bit more, they will put your car in the locked parking […] garage which is very secure. One suggestion if you are using a GPS device to find the hotel: The hotel has two street numbers (apparently Prague has renumbered the buildings). The address is shown as "Svornosti 1143-10"; however, our Garmin did not recognize this number. When we entered "10 Svornosti," we got there with no problem. The Prague public transport system is excellent and easy to understand. There is a station nearby (Andel--about a 10 - 15 minute walk east) where you can pick up the underground (Metro) or get on one of the tram lines. It was very convenient. About a two minute walk from the Andel metro (subway) station, a nice part of town this hotel is a nice surprise. We were greeted with a "welcome drink" of our choice while we were checked-in. The staff was courteous, professional, efficient and spoke English. The interior was clean and decorated with an old romantic military theme. The room was clean […] and also decorated in an old world military style. Each room is themed after a different military hero. An historic general's portrait hung above the large bed. The curtains of gold draped over windows that extended up over the vaulted ceiling. A large flat screen television was mounted to the wall at the end of the bed. The bathroom was exceptionally clean and the shower had jets from the side. The hotel gave complimentary slippers. There were also robes available for our use. Breakfast was outstanding because of the quality and service. A menu complimented the buffet. The menu items were included in the free breakfast. Pancakes with rasberry were like crepes with raspberries and whipped cream. The staff always assisted the ladies with their seats and served them first. Service was fast and the dining room was kept immaculate. Later when I came down stairs to ask a question the three members of the staff who were working behind the desk all stood up to receive me and ensure my question was answered. My wife and I were impressed with the hotel and plan to stay again. The atmosphere, cleanliness and quality of the room were outstanding but the one thing that set this hotel apart from all others was the first rate service we received from the hotel staff. Kleines, schönes & gepflegtes Hotel mit ausgezeichnetem Service ca. 15 Geh-minunten von der Prager Altstadt entfernt zu empfehlen!

Pro: - sehr angenehme Atmosphäre - Service und Ausstattung entsprechen 5* - absolut hilfsbereite Mitarbeiter - trotz Straße vorn Haus dank doppelter Fenster und AC ruhig - Parkplatz für Auto davor oder im Innenhof (15 - 20 Euro), welches auch nach dem Checkout noch stehen bleiben konnte - Frühstück sehr lecker und frisch, wenn auch aufgrund der Hotelgröße […] und Gästeanzahl nicht unbedingt so umfangreich wie in großen Bettenburgen( empfanden wir jedoch nicht als Nachteil) - rundum gut zu akzeptablen Preis Kontra: - wenn überhaupt, dann nur, dass hauptsächlich Englisch gesprochen wird (für ein internationales Hotel jedoch absolut ok) Lees meer

excellent hotel, very kind and service minded personnel. As a guest you can´t just give roses must bee some negative, breakfast , there were little short of variation of bread. I can´t do anything else, must recommend the hotell, the 5 stars it has, the hotell has deserved this 5 stars whitout any hesitation.

Dette hotellet kan anbefales! Lite og koselig, de ansatte hyggelige og serviceinnstilte og lokalene lekre. Frokostbuffet , i tillegg en meny - og du kan kose deg med champagne til frokost. Kort avstand til alle severdigheter - en spasertur på ca 15-20 minutter til Karlsbroen, en tur i hyggelige og flotte omgivelser. Hente- og bringetjeneste til flyplassen […] kan også anbefales! Hotellet er flott med turistisk sjarm, men oppleves som lite classy. Hotellet lever ikke opp til forventningene av et 5 stjerners hotell, men har god service, gode rom og god renhold. Prisene er også lavere enn på 5 stjerners hoteller, men opplevelsen tilsvarer det man betaler for.

Vi bodde på en av general suiten og var strålende fornøyd med alt, fra A til Å. Hygienen på rommet var upåklagelig (toalettet var merket med "desinfisert" etter vær rengjøring. Rommet var utstyrt med alt fra syartikler til tekanner, skopuss... ingenting som manglet! Gratis roomservice og mat til rommet hver morgen!!!

Nice hotel, but to fare away sentrum and litle to less for breakfast.

Outstanding service!! Best we ever experianced. Very attendive and friendly staff. Hotel situtade close to tram and metro in a calm neighbourhood. Breakfast nice but not to big.

!hôtel très bien situé, proche des moyens de déplacements, métro et tramays. cet hôtel mérite qu"on s"y attarde tant par la qualité des prestations que la qualité du servie hôtelier. Le confort des chambres est plus que parfait, à noter que le chasseur est d'une amabilité que je n'ai jamais rencontré ailleurs.

Hôtel luxueux, situé un peu à l'écart du centre touristique (3/4 de marche environ) mais proche du métro et du tram. Le personnel est très stylé et le petit déjeuner fameux. Rien à reprocher, séjour excellent.

Hier wird Service noch großgeschrieben und man fühlt sich wirklich als Gast. Die Highlights: persönliches Empfangsgespräch mit Begrüßungsgetränk, äußert nettes Service-/Empfangspersonal, sehr individuell eingerichtetes Zimmer im Boutiquestil, reichhaltiges Frühstücksbuffet, schmackhafte Speisen im Restaurant, Limousinen-Service.

Hotellet är endast 2 år! Hög ambition i lyxig miljö med lite "barnsjukdomar". Trevligt bemötande med hög service och vänlig atmosfär. Bra cityläge. Ordnar det mesta.
