Hotel Parador Resort And Spa in Quepos

Our experience at Hotel Parador was amazing. From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly welcoming and helpful. I left my phone on the inbound flight from San Jose... and within 1.5 hours it found it's way back to me thanks to Christopher. We traveled with our 1 year old son, and everyone was so warm and friendly to him. We were upgraded to […] a nicer room than we signed up for... a suite with an ocean view and jacuzzi tub on the balcony! The "bar" area in the suite turned out to be really helpful for us as far as cleaning and preparing bottles, sippy cups, etc. We didn't try out the adult pools... they did look nice, but we certainly didn't feel like we were missing out by staying in the family area as it was the main pool with the swim up bar, etc. The shallow end is zero entry, which worked out so well with my son because he had an area in the water he could enjoy crawling around in. We ate breakfast in the restaurant almost every day. We ate a few dinners there as well... my personal favorite was the evening we went to the sushi/steak restaurant! If you want to go into town, you should know it is a cab ride away (because of this we didn’t get out as often as we would have liked). We saw DOZENS of monkeys on this hotel property... howler, whitefaced and squirrel! Plus both a 2-toed and 3-toed sloth, along with many iguanas, toads, tropical birds, and a falcon! We were upgraded to a suite upon arrival. The room and view were more beautiful than we had hoped for. The grounds are well kept and full of wildlife. Food was great, especially breakfast, and the staff were all friendly. Can't wait to go back.

We stayed 7 nights at this outstanding resort. If you are researching hotels in the Manuel Antonio area, please stop now and book this one. You will not be disappointed. We stayed in two different Premium Plus rooms on the 4th floor in the beginning of our trip, then upgraded to the Villa Suites for the last few nights. The front desk staff was extremely […] friendly in accommodating our requests (which turned out to be many). The rooms can really dictate the experience you have at this hotel as there is quite a disparity between the garden view rooms and the luxury suites. If at all possible, the suites are worth every penny and it feels like staying at a different hotel (newer, only 4 years old). It’s the small touches and extremely friendly staff that make your stay at this resort pleasant and unique. I know others have raved about the top notch service and every bit of it is true. The personal attention and conversations the staff share with you make you feel very welcome and appreciated. Diego (waiter, bartender, local surfer) is just an outstanding person and an employer’s dream to have on staff. The ocean view from the La Fragata Restaurant & Tapas Bar is simply amazing. Enjoy the trails around the resort as these may provide better animal viewing than Manuel Antonio Park (we found walks at dusk to be the best viewings). The Parador resort was wonderful with the best breakfast buffet I ever had. However, unless you book tours that will provide you with transportation, you will need to taxi to get around. Parador sits on a hill by itself. They do offer complimentary shuttle service to Manuel Antonio National park until 5:15pm.

Had a lovely 7 night stay at the Parador. It is one of the more resort like hotels in MA with lots of on-site options. Room was lovely--we received an upgrade from a garden room to the next level. Pool and grounds were very nice. There is no air conditioning outside of the rooms, which you eventually get used to. The art around the hotel was really […] something--lots of attention has been paid to the small details. This resort is not for someone with walking issues--nothing but stairs and hills. The beach is down a steep road where cars speed by and then a mile down a trail. It drew lots of locals and had no beach chairs or bathrooms or drinks. You can take a golf cart down the road but still have to walk the trail. We stayed by the pool. I saw many little kids that looked bored to death..I would not recommend the hotel for a family vacation. I thanked my lucky stars that i did not bring my children on the trip. Food at the hotel was mediocre...brunch was quite good and the lunch menu was far better than the dinner menu. You cannot walk into town from the hotel so plan on paying around $8-10 each way in a taxi to go anywhere--and far less back from the restaurants. The hotel menu was quite pricey--about $80 per couple for dinner with a few drinks, so the taxi will be a wash. Service was good, but the waiter at the pool restaurant never had any customers yet never once asked us or anyone else if we wanted anything to drink. Seemed quite odd. The pool bar was lovely but had the most unfriendly bartender. The trails around the hotel were great, the vistas were unbelievable, and we saw lots of monkeys, iguanas, and even racoons that liked to ransack the garbage each night. Lees meer

My wife and I spent 5 days at the Parador. The stay started well when they upgraded us to a suite. The room was amazing with spectacular views. You are on a bluff overlooking the water. Room had a jet tub on the balcony, which we did not use. It was a new experience to be awakened by howler monkeys right outside our room. Remember, they have been there […] alot longer than we have. The property has three wonderful pools and a great bar where you can get served in the pool. Food was was good, not great (except for the spectacular breakfast buffett, which was included in the room cost.) The property also has the monkey trail which provides a close up view of monkeys, sloths and birds. This is not the place to stay if you are looking to walk to wonderful beaches or to restaurants off site. A bit off the beaten path. The tour desk did a great job scheduling off site activities (zipline canopy tours, Manuel Antonio tours, Catamaran sunset boat ride, whitewater rafting, horseback riding, surfing, etc...). All reasonably priced. The guide on the property is great at spotting things that you would never find yourself - worth the cost of the tour. Hotel view was great. Employees very friendly for the most part. Beware of the tours and activities scam. They have a crazy cancellation policy and have no consideration or flexibility for emergencies. My children got sick from the room service, so we could not keep our horseback riding reservations. We cancelled a few hours after making the appointment […] and they said that it was less than 24 hours notice so we would have to be charged at the full rate. The appointment wasn't even made 24 hours before the actual time of the tour. Basically I found that it is impossible to cancel. I left with the feeling that I was ripped off. Perched on a hillside with a beautiful view of the Pacific the setting is magnificent. Nice clean rooms with cute varied towel sculptures every day. Helpful staff. Very friendly people in the area. 10 minute cab ride to town for about $10. Would recommend!

Everything about this hotel was excellent. Wonderful accommodations (we saw monkeys, birds and an iguana from our balcony), excellent dining, great service, close to outside restaurants and our funfilled excursion to Manual Antonio National Park.

Just got back yesterday from a 4 night stay in Costa Rica with mi novia. Three of those nights were spent here. I booked it on Hotels.com (which I recommend). If you've gotten this far then you know the views and location are paradise. The isolated area is both a pro and a con in that we chose to not rent a car ($50/day) which meant $9 minimum each […] way cab rides even to restaurants a few kms away. The demographics seemed a decent mix of mostly older (50+) then some families with young children and a handful of couples. Being a 20-sometihng couple, we were lucky to find 2 other similarly-aged couples to mix it up with. The family pool with the swim up bar closes at 8 while the adult pool with no bar is open 24/7 (explain that to me). The drinks are delicious, but not strong and are a little pricey for what you get. The bartender at the swim up bar is usually swamped. We got back on Saturday night disappointed to find the main restaurant bar closed at 11:00pm on a Saturday night... But, commensurate with the service and desire to please all around, the bartender who was cleaning up 10 minutes past, re-opend the bar and made the 4 of us drinks. Appreciated. Go ahead and book your Costa Rican Adventures through the hotel Activities desk. the prices are in-line with what you would pay elsewhere and there is usually free pick-up and drop-off at the hotel. We did the Canopy Zipline Tour and the night-time Mangrove Boat Tour. Both recommended but would choose the Zipline over the Mangrove. I was also able to find a guy that wanted to split the cheapest fishing boat for half a day ($375 total). The food (Lunch & Dinner) at the resort was expensive and disappointing but I guess you pay for the convenience to skip the $18 round trip taxi to any of the great restaurants around the hotel. I recommend Salsipeudes (Tapas) and Mar Luna (Seafood, Steak). One thing I will say is Thank God for the really great Continental Breakfast. I am addicted to Gallo Pinto. If you are lookin Lees meer

Families with children, fine been there, don't wish to be there again. Two pools for families, the adult pool had older people. Rooms were simple, what I thought were 6 restaurants were 3 restaurants with joining bars. Manuel Antonio National forest did not have much to offer and hotel was way out there and no good vegetarian restaurant around it. You would be at mercy of inside restaurants with limited choices anf high prices. If you love nature and can live with middle range hotels without frills, you would be better off somewhere else. Furniture was worned, specifically […] leather chair was in bad shape, a lot ants coming in the room etc. and changing our room after the booking was made for a pirticular room to meet our needs, disappointed us. My husband and I stayed here for two days in February, and we wish we could have stayed longer! Upon arriving at the hotel, we were greeted with a fresh, cool towel and juice and checked in with a very professional and welcoming front desk staff. Tours were easily booked through the hotel; we enjoyed a tour to Manuel Antonio Park; walked along the trails of the hotel and had an easy walk to a nearby public beach. We have already recommended Parador to friends and other travellers that we met along the way. The only thing that was not absolutely outstanding was the evening meal at the hotel restaurant, but several restaurant options are avaialble off of the hotel grounds. We really loved the pool facilities and the breakfast at the Parador, and the room was OK. We had some ants that were near the door but I guess that can be expected in CR. Check in was very quick and easy. Wish it had a closer , bigger beach.

Excellent hotel but the quality of food at the restaurants on site was poor. A taxi ride into town is about $10/each way so it can get expensive to go eat every meal offsite. Service at the hotel was great.

This is a resort destination hotel with beautiful grounds. It was close to Manuel Antonio National Park with a free shuttle service to the beach. We went without a car and found that for every where but the beach, a cab was needed. The grounds and views were once in a lifetime spectacular. Most of the bars were open but there was only one place to eat […] dinner at the resort. We went to the bars mostly to see the different ocean views. The room (garden) was large but ordinary. The National Park nearby was fantastic but we would have liked to have had our own transportation to eat in town as the shuttle ended at 5:00p.m.. Our family of five returned from Parador two days ago and we LOVED every minute we spent at this beautiful resort. The grounds were meticulously maintained and staff were professional, helpful and friendly. Our room was adequate and very clean and the mini fridge was an unexpected bonus. It was on the ground floor which was really handy for getting […] in and out of the room with ease. There were giant iguanas all over the property and we saw monkeys on two separate occasions - once on our patio and once while hiking the longer monkey trail. I thought the beach near the hotel was nice. It was calm and great for the kids to swim and play in the sand. We tried 2 of the 3 onsite dining options and our favorite was the poolside dining. It was less expensive and had some delicious options (like the chicken panini with yucca fries - I think it was $9 or $10?). The regular dining room entrees were about double the price. I'm not sure if we were there during a slow period, but there was always a pool lounger when we wanted one. My only complaint would be that the maid service ignored my "Do not Disturb" sign on the door and came in and cleaned it anyway. We happened to be returning from a hike and were hot and exhausted and wanted to change into swimsuits, but had to wait for the room to be available. After a two week group trip in Costa Rica, I spent four days relaxing by myself at Hotel Parador. I am a recent widow and traveled to Hotel Parador by myself from San Jose on a Grey Line shuttle. I booked a premium plus room which was a little expensive for me but well worth the money for the beautiful room and great view. The staff took care of every […] request and were generally very kind though a few seemed a bit overworked, maybe because it was high season. The tour of Manual Antonio with a guide from the hotel was excellent, only myself and one couple with two lovely children. The swimming pools were perfect with a large luxurious infinity pool for adults only. Breakfast included in the price had everything you could possibly wish for. My other meals at the hotel were good-similar in price and quality to what you might find in a hotel in any big city-though not outstanding; however, it was really relaxing not to have to leave the resort. I was quite comfortable walking the nature trails in the resort and going to the nearby small beach by myself. A golf cart took me to the beginning of the short trail to the beach, the beach was calm and quiet but with a few other people and one family, the water was perfect. Bring your water shoes, the bottom is rocky. I would recommend this resort to anyone. It is large enough to accomodate families, active travelers, kids and teenagers, and romantic couples. Lees meer

Wonderful hotel, comfortable, clean, staff very friendly and helpful. The view from the breakfast terrace is amazing, the gardens are lovely and the pool was a big hit with the children. Good restaurant too. Sloths, monkeys and iguanas galore in the hotel grounds.

We drove a rental from San Jose, which was a little tricky, but manageable. The hotel was fantastic. Ample amounts of free shuttle service are provided to and from Manuel Antonio. If you want to go further, taxis are plentiful and affordable. The staff was consistently accomodating and friendly. I had to fumble my way through some Spanglish conversations […] with the staff, but we both did it with a smile. You really don't have to leave the resort confines, as there are multipe pools, great restaurants, and a comprehensive gift shop. And the views is insane. The people could not have been nicer and the place was gorgeous.

This is a great upscale hotel in the Manuel Antonio area. It's very secure and self contained so a great choice for families. The pools and surrounding grounds are first rate. Enjoy a fabulous buffet breakfast each morning in a beautiful inside outside area. Go anytime but it must be an amazing place in the winter.

This hotel was the splurge for our trip and it was a wonderful treat! The hotel was extremely clean, luxurious, and beautiful with amazing views! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The restaurant and drinks were delicious! The hotel and grounds were so nice it was hard to leave to go see the national park, but we did the second day, it is […] not in walking distance, but the hotel shuttle brought us right down to the entrance. Amazing Hotel, Absolutely gorgerous views.

Beautiful place! If you just want to relax and eat very tasty food, then this is the place. We actually stayed 4 nights, and I would return again absolutely!!!

This hotel is quite nice, which is safe to expect considering the price of rooms. I really liked the hospitality, the staff, the view and the grounds. My only complaints are that the hotel is a bit secluded and in an area far from other establishments, which makes it difficult to find food beyond the hotel restaurant, which is good but pricey.

This hotel is good and the people are friendly. They greeted me and my friends with drinks the moment we arrived which caught us by surprise. The hotel included free breakfast that was very delicious with a nice view. I would definitely stay here again. "Pura Vida"...(You'll hear that a lot)

We realtly enjoyed the pools which allowed swimming 24/7. I had a hot stone massage and the attendant was very experienced. I enjoyed the spa immensely. We would love to return to this resort and stay longer next time. They would have gladly arranged other day trips had we been interested. The hotel is magnificent and fairly convenient to both Quepos and Manuel Antonio National Park. Unfortunately, the week we were there, the road to the hotel was being resurfaced and was thus closed from 7am-midafternoon each day, basically trapping us at the hotel. Excellent hotel with great amenities. There's little reason to leave the hotel. It's the last resort at the end of the mountain road. (about 3km from main road) Good thing cause the road to get to the hotel is horrendous. It's partially concrete and crumbling concrete interspersed with gravel road with huge potholes. Be careful with your rental because […] many agencies don't allow off-roading with their vehicles. The hotel reception was great. We were greeted at the door with a cool drink. The hotel didn't have an elevator but the bell boy carried the luggage up the 4 flights of stairs. I felt bad for him since the hotel isn't air conditioned in the main areas (rooms have AC) Breakfast was included in my rate and it was excellent with a wide variety of american and multicultural fare. Other meals were excellent and very reasonably priced. All prices were in dollars at the resort. Three pools at the resort with one dedicated to adults and one dedicated to kids. One had a swim up bar. Excellent on a hot day. Wildlife was visible all over the resort. Iguanas in the trees. Large vultures flying through the rainforest canopy. Geckos climbing the walls. Butterflys everywhere. Monkeys in the trees on nearby properties. Parrots if you look closely. A nature lovers dream. Lees meer

WOW....COULDNT HAVE BEEN BETTER...INCREDIBLE VIEWS AND OUTSTANDING SERVICE..FOOD WAS FABULOUS...MY BOYFRIEND AND I STAYED IN THE SUITES AND IT WAS DEFINITELY WORTH THE UPGRADE...ALOT OF WALKING THROUGHOUT THE DAY WHICH MADE FOR BIG APPETITES AT NIGHT..HOTEL FOOD WAS GREAT BUT MOST NIGHTS WE WENT OFF THE RESORT TO FIND RESTAURANTS THROUGHOUT THE CITY..WE […] FELT VERY SAFE BEING OFF THE RESORT..WOULD 100% RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL. The Hotel is a little older. The maintenance and cleanliness of the rooms and surrounding (pool, fitness) cloud be better. Unfortunately our room was not well cleaned when we arrived. We complained and they sent somebody directly. On one of the next days they cleaned up the fitness room, too. We didn't use it and are not sure whether it was on request […] of somebody...
