Candlewood Suites Airport in South Bend

The Hotel was staff and accomodations were great based on the rate and location, however we stayed with the hotel guests from hades. My wife and I got very little sleep do to teenagers and adolescents hanging out in the hallways until 4AM in the morning. Nice clean well equipped room. People need to understand that this is an extend stay hotel. The room does not get cleaned every day. That is the way these hotels work.

The King suite is very cramped. We received three small pillows for the king bed; the blankets were very itchy and the sheets were dingy. The room was non-smoking and stank of smoke. There was mold in the shower. And the pool was out of service the entire time we were there. Had I not paid for the entire stay upfront, we would have left for another […] hotel. When nearing my destination of this hotel, I began to worry what I had gotten myself into. The neighborhood near the hotel was scary enough to make me close the sunroof in my car. However, about a half mile from the hotel, things improved nicely. I didn't feel worried once I was on the grounds. The hotel was comfortable and clean. However, trying to […] maintain my fitness program was a bit challenging due to the fact that my favorite work-out machine (the elliptical trainer) was facing the outside window of the fitness center (forcing one to watch the TV in the mirror) and was out of the range of the motion detecting lightswitch that governed the room. Consequently, I was forced to either work out for extended periods in the dark or to disrupt my work-out to get off of the machine and move around to reactivate the lights. Not a big deal, but a little embarrassing when people coming in looked a me curiously when they were trying to figure out why I was working out in the dark. I also checked in not understanding that this brand of hotel only has once weekly housekeeping and that I was paying to make my own bed, clean up my own bathroom, and replace my own morning coffeee. Again, not a big deal, but something other hotels will do for you at a comparable price. Some of the staff was courteous. The carpets in the halls and elevator floor looked as though they hadn't been swept/cleaned in months. I stayed for 5 days and my room was cleaned twice. Never did they leave coffee. By the 3rd day, I had to go down to the front desk and get my own. I will only stay here again as a LAST resort.

This is a fabulous and affordable hotel!

Rooms were fine. Pool and Spa were both inoperative. Workout room was better than expected.

This was a very nice place. When we walked into the room. We were surprised at what all came with the room. Frig, Dishwasher, pots and pans, utensels, etc. I would stay there in a minute. Very nice.

The hotel was very near the airport which was convenient but I woke up at 6 AM with flying ants all over the room. Don't know how they got in the room but the corner of the room near the nightstand was covered in a hundred bugs and they were flying around the bed and window. It was totally disgusting. It may be the season for the bugs but they shouldn't […] have gotten in the room. On another note, the towels in the bathroom were stiff and felt like sandpaper against my skin. We had a great stay except we didn't have any extra toilet paper in the room and had to go to front office and get it. but overall would stay there again

We really enjoyed our stay here. We came out for a Notre Dame football game and it's just a few minutes away from campus. The hotel staff was super helpful. The room itself was rather fancy, it is an entire suite: king size bed, stove, full size fridge and freezer, dishwasher, sink, desk, free wi-fi, spaious shower. Other than the walls being a little thin this is the best value for a hotel that I can recall.

This hotel was very inexpensive. The whole place was like brand new, very clean, modern.

Very nice room with comfortable beds and nice kitchen. I do agree that the walls are to thin. Our room had the joining door for the room next door and it was almost like i was watching TV with them. Its a good thing i sleep hard.

Walls were very thin. Luckly for us we had quite people next to us. You could also hear walking on the under floor. Best room for the money in quit sometime for me.
