Wat een prettig welkom in het Alba Hotel. Op de parkeerplaats konden we de auto voor de deur kwijt en de bussen naar het centrum vertrekken heel regelmatig aan de overkant van de straat. Je bent dan in 10 minuten op High Street, bij de Royal Mile waar de belangrijkste bezienswaardigheden zijn. Het ontbijtbuffet is goed verzorgd, onze 5-maanden oude zoon werd liefdevol begroet door de eigenaresse en de kamer was erg netjes. Omdat we op zolder sliepen waren de muren wel schuin en ik heb er zelfs een keer mijn hoofd gestoten. Ik denk dat hele lange mensen (ben ik niet) beter niet op de bovenste etage kunnen slapen. Een aanrader, vinden wij.

Het appartement was uitstekend en van alle gemakken voorzien. Het ligt een straat achter de Royal Mile, dus prima lopend te doen naar het centrum. Ontbijt/diner mogelijkheden genoeg, ook dichtbij het appartement, als je zelf geen zin hebt om te koken. Als je van natuur en wandelen houdt, is Holyrood Park, met als top Arthur's Seat (251 mtr.) in de naaste omgeving van het appartement zeker een aanrader.

Prima hotel dat gunstig gelegen is in de oude stad. Bijzonder is dat het ontbijt bij de prijs is inbegrepen.Dit ontbijt is zeer uitgebreid. Onze kamer lag op de 4e verdieping maar helaas was er geen lift! Ook de douche/toiletruimte was wat aan de krappe kant. Verder niets dan lof.
Afhankelijk van het hotelbeleid kan voor extra personen een toeslag worden aangerekend.
Bij het inchecken dien je in het geval van incidentele kosten een erkend identiteitsbewijs en een borgsom in contanten of creditcard voor te leggen.

"Holliday Inn Edinburgh, heerlijk ontbijt!"
Fijn hotel met ligbad, heerlijk! Niet zo'n grote kamer, maar wel groot genoeg. Ontbijt niet inbegrepen, maar wel verrukkelijk en zeer uitgebreid. De bediening bij het ontbijt was meer dan hartverwarmend! Iets wat je trouwens van veel Schotten kunt zeggen. Omgeving is niet geweldig. "Redelijke prijs/kwaliteitverhouding"
De algemene indruk van het hotel was wel goed. Kamerprijs was behoorlijk hoog voor hetgeen dat je verder kreeg. Het hotel had dan wel een zwembad/bubbelbad/sauna/fitnessruimte waar je gratis gebruik van kon maken, maar voor alle andere zaken moest je behoorlijk betalen. Zo was er internet maar dit was ontzettend duur. Er was een pinautomaat waarvoor […] behoorlijk extra voor betaald moest worden. Ik vind dat dit soort dingen standaard in het servicepakket moet zitten. Verder was de bediening redelijk. Je moet wel wennen dat het bij het eten behoorlijk rap gaat. Voordat je er erg in hebt is de tafel alweer leegreruimd. Ik vond dit af en toe erg gejaagd. De kamerprijs was ecxl. ontbijt. Als je de dag ervoor reserveerde bespaarde je ongeveer 4 pond. De prijs was dan ook redelijk. Het was een echt Engels ontbijt en dat vond ik goed. Het diner was ook prima. Het hotel ligt ongeveer 20 minuten met de bus van het centrum. Voor het hotel is een bushalte. Bij de bushalte kun je kaartjes kopen. Je kon kiezen tussen een enkele reis en een dagkaart. Om de 10/15 minuten komt er een bus en dit is erg goed te doen. Lees meer

"Service Charge for Cavery, what's up with that???"
Feel I have to comment on the my recent stay in the Hotel Inn in Edinburgh. The hotel is clean, modern and in a good location beside the zoo. However we had to book a table for a cavery meal the first night of our stay, which is fine. Hwoever we could not believe we were charged 10% service charge for our meal which was a cavery and had to serve ourselves, […] everything bar teas & coffees (Strange)... We really couldn't believe it that this was acceptable. So just wanted to let other folks know about this practices. Also another strange request was that ifyou wish to use the leisure facilities you had to book them. So we had to try and figure out if we'd like to use the pool hours in advance which kind of takes the enjoyment out of it. Lees meer

Great location and great staff. Bad smell of smoke in our corridor, very small bathroom and our double bed was pushed up beside a wall which is never a good thing! Breakfast was plentiful with great variety but really can't see how this was considered a 4 star hotel. Very dated and in need of a freshen up.
It was very comfortable. The room is a very good size but with the sofa bed open, room becomes very limited. I believe that they should find out if you want the extra bed open or not. I was a single person in a room and the sofa bed was open which limited my space when it was not needed open. I would have preferred it if it was just the sofa. The holiday INN is clean, good room. good location, 30 mins walk to Edinbrugh centre. We like walking so that was never a problem. Its right next to the zoo £10 in a taxi coming back late with a few drinks inside you. The negative for us about the hotel. We are 50+ the hotel dinning area and loby where packed with kids. Another family of 5 complained […] about waiting so long for breakfast and that the dinning area was like a canteen. We didnt pay for breakfast, we were so glad. We usally have a drink in the bar in the hotels we stay in when we arrive back from our day, here we kept well away. Also the pool was so packed that you had to book to have a swim. So this hotel is perfect for families but not for us. It was easter when we stayed I guess if you go when the kids are all in school it would be very different. This hotel is situated right next to Edinburgh Zoo as in right next to it. It's perfect if you're visiting the Zoo or going into the city centre by bus as the stop is at the front of the hotel both going there and back. It only takes about 15 minutes to the city centre and costs around £2.80 return. The hotels public areas are nice and modern but I'm […] afraid the bedrooms are slighty dated with the old fashioned 70's doors and woodwork needing upgrading. Absolutely perfect if you're visiting the zoo and even if you're not. Clean, modern and spacious. Also contains the Sampans pan-Asian restaurant which was absolutely fantastic. Will definitely be returning.

The Holiday Inn Edinburgh rates itself as a 4 Star hotel. Based on the service, condition of the fabric and state of repair I find this as a slight over inflation of the hotel status. The hotel claims to have two restuarants which at the time of my visit one of which was closed. The Pedestrain access to hotel from the main/road was in disrepair and […] simply fenced off with no sign of repairs being conducted. There was tree debris blocking the vehicle exit route which was not cleared for the duration of the visit. A bit inconveinent for the guests. Ideally located for the zoo but not for other attractions which, in Edinburgh, are mainly in the centre of the city. We stayed there with a granddaughter for her 10th birthday. The zoo is next door which was very convenient. Most of all we enjoyed the swimming pool and the convenience of the bus to go into the city centre.The staff were friendly and very helpful and the breakfast was excellent. Stayed one night as base for short weekend break. great location as only 15 min bus ride into main centre so it was quiet compared to city centre hotels i've stayed in (no noisey drunk guests or Kids banging doors etc.at all hours) really clean room and clean spa/pool. Although annoying that spa tub switches off for 7 mins after 15 mins, odd!

It's literally next door to the zoo, so Its good bit outside town. Not ideal for romantic getaway as on tacky side of modern, but holiday inn is holiday inn. The decor was modern & clean, but not very in keeping w a stay in old Edinburgh for a couple weekend away. Stayed during new years so paid a fortune for small executive room, but the bus outside […] was v convenient, and loads of parking outside the hotel was great for those of us driving from elsewhere in UK. Found the jellybeans in the welcome package very charming!! Wouldn't stay again if I was in Edinburgh, but I would on new yrs as everywhere else half decent in town is super pricey... "Really cramped bathrooms"
With warnings that it you allow water out you will be charged. When the bathroom is so tiny one can tell why that has been a problem. V cramped. A bit out of the way, but clean and tidy.

We booked just for a one night stay so that we could take our daughter to Edinburgh Zoo (literally next door). We were pleasantly surprised by this place. The reception staff were very courteous and couldn't do enough to help and our room was great value - clean and spacious enough. If your looking for a 4-5 day visit or even a weekend visit of Edinburgh this hotel is the choice! You have the Zoo right next door which is great value for money, also the bus stop is rightout side and goes to all the attractions, bus 100 will take you into the city for £1.30 and bus 31 will get you a 5-10 minute walk to the castle again for £1.30. […] The Hotel staff were very friendly and very helpful with these excusrions that i went on. I highly recomend the oriental restaraunt in the hotel fanatastic food for great value again. Room was kept clean and tidy every morning, Only slight issue quite expensive for a beer in the bar didnt expect to pay £4.10 for a pint!! Overall a massive thumbs up for this hotel loved it! Stubborn personel at front desk, dirty plates and cups at breakfeast .The childrens bed were not made upp yet when we checed inn past midnight(we had told them about late chec inn), they did not beleve uss when we told them the night was prepayd troug hotels.com. I had to pay fore internett to get my email to prove it.The same thing happend again when […] we checed out. It is imberesing that one hase to pay fore internett acsess in a 4 stare hotell. The hotel is in a fantastic location right next to the Edinburgh zoo and with plenty of free car parking. Front reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Buses run every 5 to 10 minutes right past the front of the hotel and into the city centre in about 10 minutes. I was looking for a hotel or B&B for a one day stay in Edinburgh prior to a flight back to the US. This Holiday Inn turned out to be a very good choice. It is located right next to the Edinburgh Zoo - it literally shares a common entrance with the zoo! There is a bus stop outside the hotel if you wish to visit the city center area (Princes St, Royal […] Mile, etc.) and the airport is also down the road 5 miles away. The Haymarket railway station is only 2 miles away! This was perfect for my short stay - nice, clean, comfortable room; fast check in and check out. No complaints. Remember that there are multiple Holiday Inns in Edinburgh so make sure you choose this one (Corstorphine Road, by the Zoo) Lees meer

Hotel was very comfortable and the staff was extremely pleasant. Only criticism is that Holiday Inn should offer free WIFI.

Great Hotel for us (2 adults and child aged 6), Ideally situated for the Zoo (They use the same car park saves you £4.00 on parking), Bus service to city centre right outside. We had no problems with the Hotel, the staff were very helpfull and friendly. We ate in the Hotel Chinese resturant a little expensive but very nice (Great View of the city). […] Breakfast plenty to choose from and again very nice. The room was ideal with a lovely view (572). We didnt have time to use the leisure facilities.
