It was our 5th stay at this hotel. Service and accommodations are great adn we would highly recommend it.

The Hotel Beacon Escazu is located in a business/residential area of Escazu. My friend and I stayed there at the recommendation of my son who lives in San Jose and it was a 10 min bus ride from his office. The staff is very helpful and accomodating but was on occasion a problem with my expressing what I needed to some of the staff. I am from the US. […] My friend and I upgraded from a Deluxe King Room to a Jr Suite and both were very comfortable. The beds are wonderful and sleep so comfortably so are the linens on the bed. The Cafe downstairs was very nice for breakfast and the Continental Breakfast was great and filling. The Costa Rician Continental Breakfast consist of a Fresh Fruit Cup, Beans and Rice, Toast and Jelly, Sliced Tomato and wonderful coffee with steamed milk. I was very surprised that it was not just a bagel or sweetroll which is what a Continental Breakfast consist of in the US. One morning I ordered an extra grilled tomato and it had some of their wonderful salsa drizzled on the plate. It was a very nice breakfast and satisfying. Lees meer

the hotel is very nice and quiet. My only beef would be with the toilet in my room it was a little problematic ,but other than that i would stay again. Especially, if i did not want to stay in the city.

Pro's: bed en linen top quality Pro staff, parking and internet ok. Contra: very narrow room and bathroom, Neighbourhood very noisy and full of police. Doesn't feel safe, certainly after dark. They lock the hotel with steel bars and doors, you feel like a prisoner.

The Beacon Escazu is a boutique hotel with only 27 rooms. However the hotel has all of the amenities and services any large hotel would have. My wife and I spent 10 nights at the hotel and had a great time. The staff was very frendily and helpfull. Other […] reviews mentioned that the surrounding neighborhood was not so good but in reality it is a typtical San Jose neghborhood. The Beacon Hotel is one of the best all round hotels I have had the pleasure of staying at. I have used it for both business and traveling with my family, and have had great experiences in both cases. The hotel is conveniently located to shopping and other cultural venues. Every person I have had the pleasure of dealing with has been extremely friendly and helpful. Their command of English is also reassuring, especially for those just learning Spanish, or who do not know the language at all. As a business traveler I appreciated the access of the hotel to Escazu, Santa Ana and San Jose. The wireless communications were flawless, and the room comfort with a working desk made my stay most pleasant and productive. The hotel restaurant serves excellent food with good choices. It's a very nice hotel, the food is excelent, but there is nothing to do in the hotel so Make plans! Very comfortable, clean, nice people. The pool is almost non existent.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for our first two nights in Costa Rica and will definitely return. The partner transport company, VIP Transport, was very convenient and professional. When we arrived, we were welcomed with delicious fresh fruit juice and were amazed by the uniqueness of our room as well as the pool/hot tub area. Nice, modern and clean hotel. Neighborhood is not the best but staff were super helpful. Reception staff ordered us a pizza from a near-by restaurant as we didn't feel like eating in the hotel restaurant (very nice but little too pricey for a late night snack).

Marvellous hotel, the room was extra big with the great view over the garden, service and restaurant were excellent as well - and all that for very reasonable price. First time in my life the hotel I was chosen exceeded all my expectations:)

The hotel was just out of the ordinary. It really felt like no other place. I felt secure and well taken care of. Everyone was just friendly to the extreme. They all help me plan tours during my stay and keep me up to date with my plans. The only downfall it would be the the surrounding area

What a fabulous hotel. Our room was beautiful and the staff was incredibly wonderful. Highly recommend this place

Escazu is a rejuveinating part of San Jose that has trendy shops and TGIF's as well as the older parts of Escazu. Beacon Escazu is a botique hotel nested in San Rafael not far from the plaza, its setting is an older part of Escazu. The staff is very helpful and knowledgable and will make sure ther is nothing to want. Accomodations and food are 4 star. […] If you are staying in San Jose for a day or two the Hotel Beacon is a good place, if need to be near the airport Hotel Beacon may not be for you. Lees meer

One of the best hotels i've been in !

We stayed at the Beacon for one night prior to driving to Guancaste. We were pleasantly surprised by the hotel itself -- it's like a little oasis in the middle of Escazu. Our room was very comfortable with a comfortable king sized bed and 4 fluffy pillows. The hotel staff were also very helpful. They helped us negotiate a good rental car price for our […] trip to the pacific. The location, though a little odd, was very convenient for us to get to the main highway for our trip. A very beautiful, elegant, small hotel, ten minutes from the airport and twenty from the city. Impeccable service and a lovely facility. Free sauna and steam room. The pool could have been cleaner.

Fantastic hotel and a great base for trips to the Paos volcano and San Jose and surrounding areas. The hotel garden and pool is a green haven in a busy city. The food and service are excellent and the concierge organised trips for us and suggested good restaurants.

I was disappointed with the service of the hotel. Lacked english speaking personnel for us to communicate with. That aside the place is a pretty hotel but where it is located didn't inspire me to walk around a bit.

A beautiful new hotel that radiates luxury and clean lines, we expected a great experience. The Costa Rican staff was very helpful and polite, but management was lacking. There were several problems. The hotel is in a very bad area and all points of entry to the hotel are barred night and day. We were uncomfortable driving there at night and would […] not even walk in that area in the day time. Upon arrival in the basement parking, we were informed the one elevator for the hotel was for baggage only and guests had to walk up to three flights of steps. We arrived Sunday night. Monday morning in the garden outside of our room they started work with a sledge hammer at 8:00 AM. They then opened the raw sewage system which remained open for three days. The smell was in our room and in the dining area. Several other rooms had the same problem. Although most of the hotel was empty, they did not move us away from this terrible odor and sight, not adjust our bill. We saw in the hotel guide book that breakfast was served until 11:00. However, a poorly translated handout we received at check in said until 10:30. We got there at 10:00 AM and were told that the breakfast buffet was closed at 10:00. However, they did make us a small meal at extra charge. The hotel guide and the desk manager assured us that laundry received in the morning would be received back the same day. They lost our laundry for three days but it arrived eventually with no apology but at full price. We asked three times to speak to the manager - who reportedly comes in at 9:30 AM. She never found time to talk to us. The staff seems to try hard, but the managers remain hidden and aloof - especially from problems. Lees meer

This is a great hotel in a scruffy neighborhood. We walked around and no one bothered us. We ate in a couple of restaurants in the area, one called Mi Tablita Campesina was excellent and reasonable.
