"Great location"
Perfect location. There is a great deal of activity in the hotel and art gallery. I highly recommend it. It's a fun place to stay.
"Gladstone Hotel -- cool art hotel"
The Gladstone won't be for everybody. You have to want to be in the Queen West area -- convenient for me, near some galleries, cool bars and restaurants, but nowhere near a subway line. Rooms vary in size and coolness, but some are great.

"The Gladstone Hotel in Toronto-some quirky fun"
We loved this hotel. I've stayed at some of the most expensive places in the world, and this was an offbeat, refreshing, FUN change of venues. if you want your hotel itself to be a unique experience, you are up for something funky but clean, arty but clearly interested in guests' happiness and comfort, a little old and ragged here and there but edgy […] and hip, then this is your place. Yeah, they have one of the oldest hand-operated elevators in Toronto (any big city in the world?), and you may like waiting for the elevator guy to come up to your floor for you, but it's fun to use the wide, old, waxed wood stairs and check out the scenery on your way down. In this place, you are happy to be inconvenienced; it's in the DNA of the place to slow down a little so you can appreciate their sense of humor and curating idiosyncrasies. All the comforts you'd expect from any place but high on the unique and one-of-a kind factor. See for yourself. Each room has been decorated by a different artist. When was the last time you made your way back to your room with ease because you recognized the particular art along the walls near your door? The staff were eager to please and friendly...shout out to Byron! Thanks for the breakfast vouchers! So appreciated and unexpected. The meal was delicious and also sensitively procured from local farms. Gladstone's sensibilities with regard to food quality, service and preparation were spot on, and in the groove with the whole atmosphere of being socially and environmentally conscious. We'll go back again and hopefully stay longer. Lees meer

"The Gladstone Hotel - Toronto"
loooved the artist-designed rooms! they were cozy and home-y too! lots of nice little shops and cafes along Queen :) friendly staff. just wonderful! :)
"smells terrible"
I changed rooms because my room smelled so musty. The next room smelled less strongly, but was nonetheless very unpleasant. The hotel staff blasted the a/c (setting the temperature to 68 degrees) to try to mask the odor.
"Gladstone Hotel - Unique jem in Toronto"
I chose this hotel for the vibe I sensed from the pictures of the rooms and the ammenities. It was within walking distance of the Molson Ampitheatre where the concert I was attending was held. Everyone was friendly who worked there and I greatly enjoyed the artwork and themed room. When I arrived back to the hotel after the concert there was live music […] playing in the downstairs bar and was the perfect capepr to the night. I should also mention that I could not hear the band from my room and was able to fall asleep soundly in a comfortable bed. Lees meer

"Perfect if Nice N' Funky is your Jam"
Not cookie-cutter. Nice/interesting/art-oriented. If you're a fussy "must be catered to" type. Do not stay at the Gladstone. There's no minion at your beck and call waiting to "white-glove" you or make you feel more special than you are. This hotel is better for go-with-the-flow types who have an appreciation for an eclectic mix of furnishings, and […] humans. The place is great. Lees meer
"Just great"

"hip, friendly and kind"
I have stayed at the Gladestone a few times and it always pleases. Great design, cool staff and tons of events and parties right in the hotel to keep any bored business traveler entertained.
"Know what you're getting into"
This is a restored old hotel with unusually styled rooms and extensive modern art collections. There is an old traditional elevator which is not always available but rooms are only two or three flights up. There is a good deal of street noise. The neighborhood is artsy and a bit edgy but it felt safe to be out on the street at night. We happened to […] arrive for a family visit on the occasion of Nuit Blanche, an overnight arts festival. The Gladstone is a hub for the event. Therefore there was a lot of noise and activity. The staff were understanding & offered to change our room. There is a charming restaurant on premises and a lively bar. This is not a standard hotel experience. If you know that and want to try something unusual I would recommend it. Lees meer

"Gladstone Hotel - Toronto"
Boutique type hotel in an eclectic section of town. If you want a hotel that is not cookie cutter, this is your place. The staff was extremely friendly throughout my stay. Room was small, but fine for most of my needs. My only complaints are the size of the TV and no chair to use at the desk. Not an issue if you are there for pleasure, but I was there […] for work and found the lack of work space a little difficult. First night I slept wonderfully and wondered why they had ear plugs in the room. The second night I found out why, as I finally fell asleep around 1:30 a.m. while the bass still reverberated in my 4th floor room. Next time I'll ask what is going on in the ballroom before I book a room. Lees meer
"Gladstone"
I only stayed one night but I love this Hotel!! The staff was very friendly and the room was great. I will stay there again.
"nice arthotel"
The Gladstone is a very nice and warm hotel. I felt very well. For people loving very silent nights the Gladstone is the wrong one. At the bar or the concertroom there were every nights musicians playing their best songs. This was quite loud at the rooms. But the atmosphere at the concerts was really good. very helpful stuff, young people. my room was […] small but for one person ok. it was clean, a little bit dusty but not so bad. in the neighborhood you find a lot of bars, restaurants, artgalleries etc. Lees meer

"Unique and a fun place to stay"
The staff here was absolutely awesome; comprised mostly of the kind of artsy looking people that you'd expect to be pretentious but are actually really friendly once you talk to them. The area is a little out of the way from the typical Toronto destinations, but it is a nice area to walk around in and is an area that generally seems to have a lot to […] do, especially if you are into the arts/music/nightlife scene. There's a great place to get poutine (a must if you're only in Canada for a bit) just down the street. For that matter, the breakfast we had in the hotel cafe was really good. This also had a great parking situation for a big city hotel ($15/night and it is right by the place). We stayed in the "Biker" room. While it wasn't huge, it was big enough, and the hotel has every amenity you'd expect from a modern hotel. The history of the place (apparently it is one of the oldest/first hotels in Toronto) and the artist's individual touches make this place a bit of a tourist attraction in and of itself. Lees meer
"Gorgeous but disorganised"
Beautiful interesting hotel in arts area of Toronto, staff lovely & friendly & cool but one thing really annoyed me- I arrived at hotel at 3pm after a long flight, feeling jet lagged.Wanted to go for snooze and shower before heading out to meet a friend & explore but I was told my room would not be ready for 10 mins. I had a walk up the road to have […] a look and came back 50 mins later.I was told it still wasn't ready and would be another 20 mins.Bit disappointed but had another quick walk and came back after 20 mins exactly to be told it would be a further 15 mins. They got me iced tea & 15 mins went by & another group waiting were told their room was ready.Nothing said about mine.40 mins went by & no one had come to tell me it was ready.I went to reception & they gave me the key but said a maid would be round so I could go up and drop my bags in the room but would have to vacate when maid came to clean the room. Upon entering the room, it looked great and clean to me,I didn't think it needed linens changing-looked clean to me, but the maid told me on the way up she would be in soon.I waited for an hour and no sign of her.I couldn't sleep or shower incase she turned up.By this time it was 6pm & as I was only in Toronto for 2 days I decided to head out to explore anyway despite feeling exhausted & in need of a shower. When I got back later that evening, nothing had even been done to the room! Other than that it's a beautiful hotel with great artworks in each room & a lovely bar. Lees meer
"Fun Hotel"
The Gladstone is in a great neighborhood that's in transition. Lot's of cool restaurants and stores very close by. The parking rates were reasonable. We'd stay there again.

"Nice Place to Stay"
My stay at the Gladstone Hotel was excellent. The neighborhood was not as nice as I had expected, but there are a lot of convieniece stores and a grocery store nearby. My stay was for one night, in the Queen Suite. I love the uniqueness of the hotel, and would definitely stay there again if I was going to Toronto- even just to see a different room! […] They made me feel right at home, and the front desk answered any questions I had. I was also offered a free glass of wine when I checked in, which I redeemed later that night in their bar area. The bar turns into a romantic, private place in the evening. I would reccomend this hotel to anyone who loves art and design or the historic feel of an old building. Great place for couples! Expect to pay $15 for parking in the grocery store lot behind the hotel. Lees meer
