Athinaikon Hotel in Athene

Schone kamers, vriendelijk personeel niet te beroerd om je te helpen. Toen wij daar waren was er een staking in het openbaar vervoer en alle taxi's en meneer was zelfs zo vriendelijk om te regelen dat we die dag alsnog naar de haven gebracht zouden worden. Zeker waar voor je geld.

Can only agree to everybody else – nice hotel (my room was pretty small and slightly inconvenient, but clean, with a window and big bed) with great rates in a great location that is supposedly dangerous, but luckily I had no bad experience. My Greek friend he had his car broken into twice on that street, but didn't even see a single hooker.

I really can't recommend this hotel enough. The lady at the front desk is so kind and speaks English very well. All of the major attractions are within walking distance, and this hotel is very easy to get to from public transportation. I highly recommend the use of public transportation because the roads are quite busy. The rooms are small but very […] adequate; you don't need a fancy hotel room if you're only going to be sleeping in it! Free wireless internet, very clean, and the neighborhood isn't bad at all. (If you turn right out of the hotel it's a little rough, but if you turn left, which is where everything is anyway, you're in a fine neighborhood.) Alright so I selected this hotel for my last destination during my Euro Trip. After a lot of research and finally with the help of Hotels.com I was able to find something not too pricey and located in the best location of Athens. Positives: - Metro from Hotel is lest than 200 m - Bus Stop 20 m - Market 0 m. - City-Center 0 m - Monastiraki station like […] I said above is only 200 m, it is a meeting place for a lot of local people and travelers and also its one of the places from where you may want to access the Acropolis and other attractions, Agora's entrance is available from this place it self and to me this side access to Acropolis was less tiring. - Monastiraki remains lively almost all the time of the day and has some very nice shops around the hotel on both the sides. - Omonia square isn't far either, you could either choose to take a bus, metro or what I did was used to walk, since there are nice markets on both the sides while you walk towards the square, even I founs Sytagma Square approachable by foot, however some people might prefer to take a metro. - Did you know metro stations in Athens are more like museums, since a lot of ruins and treasurers were discovered during metro constructions. Monastiraki and Syntagma stations are must watch. - So in totality, the location of the hotel was excellent to me, if you are looking for something in the center, not too pricey and easily approachable, don't even think twice and go for this place. - There's a vending machine inside the hotel to provide you with some quick snacks, drinks, etc. however I din't require anything from it except mineral water, as there were some very nice places to eat around the hotel. - The hop n hop-off bus point was very close from the hotel, less than 200 m. - The reception was open all the time and I found the staff extremely helpful. We arrived very late; the clerk in the first floor was not willing to help with luggage to the third floor, this hotel does not have an elevator. The room was extremely small no chair to sit down just bed, one double and one single which filled the room completely, three suitcases on the floor and there was only room to stand and pass to the dilapidated […] bathroom sideways. I paid for three nights and moved out next day to 4 star Best Western by Archeological Museum for the same price with breakfast, lovely, spacious room and surroundings. Hotel is in a great area. Close to metro and major sites. Hotel is located on the edge of a bad area, but if you walk up one street, it is ok. Small rooms, shower is in the bathroom. CHeap place to stay and convienient location.

Staying at the "Athinaikon" hotel is always a pleasure,....... Its located dead smack in the heart of Omonia & not too far from Syntagma, the Acropolis & Agora markets, Its a budget hotel run by very nice family. The building is narrow and may need a bit of a refurbishment but it serves its purpose (BUDGET), don't expect anything lavish. Nightime may […] cause real panic for some, as you find the local African callgirls wondering the streets....but harmless in anyones language. This hotel is a short walk from a really nice shopping area and restaurants which are located on Thespidos Street. It is also close to the Acropolis and a metro station, convenient for our return to the airport. It was a cosy hotel room with a great shower.

Many hotels in this price range are closer to Omonia, which is a very dicey neighborhood. This hotel is far enough south of Omonia to be in a bit better neighborhood and is also very convenient to both the Omonia and Monastiriki metro stations (and therefore to all three metro lines). This is a very cheap hotel but you wouldn't be able to to tell from the room and service. The lady at the front desk is the nicest and most helpful person I've ever met (she even gave us a complimentary bottle of Ouzo upo our departure). The location is great, 5 minutes from Monastiraki square (where all the shops are) and about 15-20 from Syntagma […] Square. It was a safe area even considering the fact we were there during the violent protests that continue today. Please don't hesitate to stay here, I'd recommend this place to anyone and everyone. When we arrived at the hotel, they informed us that it was booked and we were to stay at another hotel. The new hotel was further away in a bad part of town. It was late at night and we had to walk through a sketchy neighborhood. We booked a double room but we were given two single beds with no blankets. This in not an American style hotel. That should be stated up front. It is not intended for lounging in all day or relaxing. But if you are looking for a very clean, newly remodeled place to sleep then you can't do better than this. It is very inexpensive and the staff are extremely nice and speak fluent English. Be prepaired to walk up a lot of narrow, […] winding stairs. They do not have an elevator and the rooms are very small. But VERY clean. They do have free wifi and usually I have to pay 12 euro extra per day at the nicer hotels in Athens. I should also mention the air conditioning which is not too common in the older style hotels I've stayed in. It is located very close to Omonia Square and I would like to say that it is crazy. I would not walk around the area trying to get a feel of Athens because it is very different than the rest of the city. Very crowded, loud, too many tourists and all that goes along with it. If you have a questions about how to get where you are going I would recommend getting down into the subway station and then asking the employees. If you ask someone on the street there is a good chance you are getting conned or lied to. I would recommend the hotel to anyone that is looking for a good clean place to sleep. Lees meer

The room was just okay, but the bathroom was akward. The shower sprayed water all over the whole bathroom because there was nothing separating the shower from the rest of the bathroom. Ich fahre jedes Jahr 2-3 x nach Athen und steige immer in diesem Hotel ab, es ist von der Lage ideal, sehr sauber, das Personal sehr hilfsbereit und das Preis/Leistungs-Verhältnis top. Ich bin den ganzen Tag unterwegs und brauche keinen Luxus, die Zimmer sind klein und einfach,aber sehr sauber. Es gibt keinen Lift, nur eine enge Treppe.

Hotel proche du centre ville dans un quartier populaire ,pitorresque et trés vivant. Les chambres sur la rue sont bruyantes . Demander plutot une chambre qui n'est pas sur la rue . Il n'y a pas de réfrigérateur dans les chambres. Présence d'une personne 24h00 sur 24 à la réception.

j'avais reservé une chambre avec lit jumeaux,ils m'ont proposé une chambre avec grand lit,la seule solution proposée,aller dans un autre hotel plus loin,finalement mon ami a pris la chambre je suis allée aileurs je ne recommande pas cet hotel

Wir (2 E + 2 K) mussten nach unserem Urlaub auf einer griechischen Insel eine Zwischenübernachtung in Athen einlegen, da es keine passende Fährverbindung am Flugtag gab. Für diesen Zweck ist ist dieses Hotel optimal geeignet. Natürlich hat ein 1 Sterne Hotel keinen großartigen Komfort, aber für eine Zwischenübernachtung ist Größe (wir waren in einem […] 4Bett Zimmer, Ausstattung (Klima, TV, Bad, Dusche) und vor allem die Sauberkeit war völlig aussreichend. Das Personal war äußerst freundlich und hilfsbereit, die Abwicklung problemlos, es gab einen Weckdienst, das Taxi stand pünktlich vor der Tür, was will man mehr? Zu erwähnen ist die günstige Lage. Es sind keine 10 Gehminuten bis zur Metrohaltestelle Monastiraki, d.h. von Pireas aus einfach in die Metro, Monastiraki raus und 10 min später ist man im Hotel. Die Taxifahrt zum Flugplatz dauerte 45min, (allerdings war dies sehr früh morgens), zur Hauptverkehrszeit muss man sicherlich 1h einkalkulieren. Wenn man sich noch die Attsstadt bzw. die Akropolis anschauen möchte, ist dies ebenfalls sehr leicht zu Fuß erreichbar. Alles in allem ein optimales Stop Over Hotel Lees meer

I stayed in Hotel Athinaikon one night and I would highly recommend the place. Good location (only around 400m from Monastiraki metro stop from which the metro goes to the airport as well. Nice old lady in the reception who speaks good english. Quite newly renowated rooms, with aircon and tv. This is a budget place with clean sheets, clean rooms and […] good location. I did not mind if there was no shower curtain or so in the bathroom, but otherwise the place was more than I waited. If you want a budget place almost in old town of Athens this is a place for you! Fint hotell når du bare skal overnatte en natt i Athen

Hotellet ligger tæt på en central metro, hvorfra man både kan komme til lufthavnen og til Pireaus færgehavn (ud til de græske øer). Hotellet er lille og værelserne ikke store, men rene og fine og beliggenheden er super (15 mins gang fra Akropolis - som er et Athen must!). l'hotel est bien pour séjourner quelques jours, wifi gratuit accessible depuis la chambre. l'hotel est tenue par une dame très gentille qui le jour de notre départ nous a proposé de garder nos sacs aprés avoir libéré la chambre pour pouvoir encore profiter du quartier tranquillement. Il est bien situé dans la mesure ou il est proche de l'acropole à […] pied, il est également proche du metro, de restaurants, d'une poste ( dur à trouver à athenes) de café, de petites boutiques touristiques tout comme de rues commerciales. A few minutes from Monastiraki and Plaka, two steps to the characteristic central market. If you don't need absolute silence to sleep and you prefer a fantastic city location to A class services this is the right place.

Trivelig lite hotell i gangavstand til Monestiraki metro. Veldig små rom som passer bra for en weekend, men ikke særlig lenger. Veldig rent og pent, hyggelig personale. Hadde hørt en del negativt om området, men vi så aldri noe skummelt mens vi var der. Hyggelige resturanter og stort marked. Lett å komme seg til Akropolis og Piraeus. Très bon hôtel rapport qualité prix pour passer quelques jours sur Athènes. Cet hôtel est très bien situé pour accéder au centre historique d'Athènes. A environ 5 minutes à pied de la station de métro de Monastiraki qui permet d'accéder et au Pirée et à l'aéroport d'Athènes sans changer de métro. Les environs de l'hôtel m'ont paru sûrs et animés en […] journée et jusqu'à au moins 23h00-minuit. Il y a toujours quelqu'un à l'accueil pour récupérer les clés. Lees meer

L'hôtel est correct et conforme à la description. Par contre, le quartier est très glauque la nuit, avec beaucoup de prostitution dans les environ et même dans la rue de l'hôtel (mais pas dans l'hôtel lui-même apparemment). On a écourté notre séjour du coup ...

Älteres, aber sehr sauber geführtes Hotel; Besitzer freundlich und hilfsbereit, Zimmer etwas hellhörig und klein. Insgesamt super Preis-/Leistungs-Verhältnis. Nachteil: die zentrale Lage zwischen Psirri und der Agora ist nachts nicht immer angenehm. Besser den Heimweg über die Odos Athinas nehmen!!

Les chambres sont toutes simples, mais très propres et elles ont vraisemblablement été rénovées récemment. Cet hôtel est situé entre Omonia et Monastiraki (à 10min à pied), dans le quartier des halles, très animé le matin. La rue est calme le soir. La salle de bain est propre. We came two days and then went to mikonos. After that, we needed a last night in Athenas until our flight. We compared prices, area, metro and decided to book it again. Good price according it location near to the metro, considering the high prices of hotels in Atenas. It was 500 mts from the metro, the best station to combine and reach the best places. […] About 12 blocks from the centre. Very easy to walk. Anyway, the area scares a lot, it is dark and ugly.
