Okayama Koraku Hotel in Okayama

Close to the JR rail station, the Okayama Koraku will be our starting point from now on for all activities in the area. Rooms are a good size, beds are firm but certainly usable, two types of pillows to choose from, & a truly excellent massage chair right next to the bed if you're smart enough to ask for it. We have the exact same chair at our home, […] so we really appreciated getting as many free massages as we wanted. The only glitch was that the hot water in the sink was only a bare trickle, & for some reason, engineering couldn't get it fixed while we were there. Because of its location and quality, stayed at this hotel for the second time and again found the staff so helpful and facilities very good. Rooms seem to be a little bigger than other similar priced hotels. Only criticism was the central heating was warmer than we prefer.

First class hotel close to everything. Staff were fantastic. Largest room we have stayed in Japan. Would return and highly recomend.

My wife and I booked the hotel stay the morning of the day of our arrival as we quickly decided to change our travel plans. We were about 3hrs early for check-in and the front desk staff was nice enough to see if any rooms were available (there were not). They did hold our bags for us and when we returned for check-in they had already moved our bags […] into the room. Nice touch. We had one of their "comfort" rooms which included a full size bed and massage chair. Great room. Only negative is it did not appear you could control the thermostat from the room besides turning it off. (I couldn't read the Japanese note on the thermostat so I am not 100% sure). I usually stay at the ANA hotel which is next door to the train station on Okayama. However, it was fully booked and I choose the Koraku as an alternative. It turned out to be a very good one. The Koraku Hotel is very nice. It is an easy 5 minute from the train station. Staff was welcoming and pleasant. The room was clean and comfortable. Japanese rooms […] tend to be small but my room was a comfortable size (I had two double beds in my room). Internet was free (LAN cable vs. wireless). Breakfast buffet was very nice and included both traditional Japanese breakfast items and some western choices as well. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Lees meer

This beautiful city is definitely worth a visit. Fantastic gardens and wide boulevards, and a friendlier size than the big metropolis cities. The Koraku Hotel is located in an excellent position near the shinkansen station, walking distance to the main sights and restaurants. Stayed at this hotel because there were so many great reviews and it did not dissapoint. Friendly greeting on arrival by General Manger who spoke excellent English and gave us all the information we required. They stored our baggage so we could make the most of our one nights stay-pity it was not longer. Really closed to the train station, it is a perfect hotel for visiting okayama. Service totally perfect!

Very helpful staff. Breakfast buffet combined western and Japanese dishes- lovely set up. Ask for room on upper floor and ask for no smoking ...it appears there is smoking in restaurant/bar in the evening.

The staff was incredibly helpfull and didn't miss a beat. Our room was spacious (remember, this is Japan) and clean. I would difinitely recommend this place to friends.

Great location! A few blocks from the JR station and in the other direction, a few blocks from the KoraKoen and all of the museums. Caters mostly to Japanese, but the staff knows English. The rooms are reasonably sized and in excellent condition.

The hotel is great with good service & comfort. However, we were not used to sleeping on bean pillows. The location is convenient however it's located opposite a hangout area which is very crowded on Friday & Saturday. The Koraku Hotel provided outstanding service during our stay. All staff were very welcoming including the hotel manager who provided extensive information on local sights, restaurants and how to get around. The help we received from the hotel staff made getting to more out of the way locations possible (especially the Seto Inland sea). The hotel also […] provided great advice on local restaurants including a fantastic sushi bar near the hotel. The hotel location was excellent being 5 minutes walk from the station and 20 minutes walk to Okayama's main attractions. The hotel was also well situated to shops and restaurants. The room was well appointed and good value for money. The room and service were well above the 3 1/2 star ratings given to this hotel on many web-sites. Lees meer

My wife and I have spent 6 weeks travelling around Japan over three separate holidays and Okayama Koraku Hotel was the best hotel we have stayed in. (Generally staying in mid to lower upper range hotels) The staff were fantastic and had collections of hand-drawn maps for things like the local sites, local restaurants in English. Very welcoming and […] friendly. The decor of the hotel showed some style and class with different art displayed in the lift waiting areas. Rooms and bathrooms were a good size for japan. Short walk to the main train station and on the tram line to get around. Would recommend the hotel to anyone. First off, Okayama. It's possibly a strange choice as it does not feature prominently on many itineraries of Japan. However, a few reasons make it a great choice for anyone touring Japan on a rail pass. It's within easy reach of Hiroshima/Miyajima, as well as Takamatsu on the other side of the bridge to Shikoku and Matsue on the Sea of Japan coast. […] It's also some 15 minutes away from Kurashiki, which we considered a must-see. Finally, it's an easy train journey from Kyoto, Osaka or Kobe, but make sure you jump off the train at Himaji to see the castle there (interior closed for a couple of years for renovation, but it's still worth taking a few hours to see it - a few movies were shot there, including You Only Live Twice and the Last Samurai), Okayama is itself a relaxed, moderate sized city with some charm of its own, particularly the gardens which are considered one of the top three in all of Japan. If you're going to make Okayama a base for this end of Japan, you can do no better than the Koraku. As well as being extremely convenient for the railway station, it's so plush that I assumed it was part of a national chain, but it's owned by a local family. As such, the level of service is extremely high. The staff I spoke to, including a number of very interesting conversations with the new manager, Mr Yamamoto, and the receptionist who had lived some years in Liverpool, had a high competence in English and were extremely courteous and knowleadgeable about what to do locally, including restaurants and travel connections. The level of service can only be described as 5 star - I don't know what rating the hotel has, but I would advise travellers to stop off in Okayama just to sample this hotel - it's that good. The reception even boasts a laser device for cleaning spectacles - I got both pairs professionally cleaned in minutes, and it didn't cost me a yen! 駅から徒歩で少し遠いかなぁという印象。予定よりも広めのお部屋を用意して頂きました。家具が少し古い感じはありましたが、清潔で快適でした。ただ歯ブラシが付いていませんでした。ロビーでは無料でPCが使えました。 朝食ビュッフェは値段の割に種類も多く、大満足。しかし部活の遠征らしき高校生がたくさんいて、食堂やエレベーターが大変混んでいました。

アロマの良い香りが漂うホテルで、とても気持ちよく過ごせました。 フロントの方もとても感じのよい方で、また、利用したいと思いました。 コンビニも近いし、立地条件は良いと思います。

Business hotel, staff gentilissimo, buona posizione vicino alla stazione. Pessima colazione (giapponese :-( )

Accueil très sympathique, et personnel comme toujours au Japon très attentionné. Situation de l'hôtel à 5' a pieds de la gare.

5 minutter fra stasjonen og rett ved kanalen! 10 minutter til slottet og nær alt. Sentralt og likevel rolig. Helt greie rom og bra senger, men kanskje litt harde etter europeiske forhold. Både japansk og internasjonal frokostbuffet, men litt enkel i forhold til prisen.

위치가 좀 찾기 어려운데요. 기차역에서 걸어갈 수 있는 거리에 있습니다. 호텔은 깔끔하고 편리합니다. 다만 직원들이 영어를 거의 못한다는 점과 아침식사가 일본식으로 뭐 그냥 그런 정도.

Spent a whole week in Okayama and stayed in Kooraku Hotel. We had 2 doubles, one for parents and other for teen-age children. The service was excellent - kind of personal. The facilities are ok and the situation perfect - just in the middle but still peaceful. Okayama district with surrounding countryside nice showing part of the rural Japan.

The room was very big for Japanese standards. Plus when we asked id there is somewhere to ride bicycle, they do this for us fo free. It was a great experience, I would definetly stay there for the second time.
