This is an older hotel, but well maintained. My room looked out on the harbour and city, and in the evening sitting on the small balcony, looking out on the view was a treat in itself. Good budget hotel within walking distance of centre and ferries if you are a good walker. A good mile. About half a mile to main street of Parnell where there are lots of restaurants. Also walkable to big museum in the Domain. Old and new cathedrals are worth visiting.

We were very impressed with room looked as though had been recently renovated.Excellent shower smallkitchen area with microwave and fridge. Excellent location as near bus stop for downtown. We ate in restaurant and food was very good and reasonably priced. Would certainly recommend especially good value

the hotel did not have the celing fans as was indicated when the room was booked. I asked the manager and was told that it was not true. i showed him the information ....was not happy about that - but they did give us a small fan to cool the room.

Great to have free parking in handy location close to central Auckland, suited a family with 2 children well for a night away. We ate dinner and breakfast at the restaurant for convenience and it was great too.

We stay at Barrycourt often in the rooms overlooking the harbour and we're always very pleased with them. This time we decided to try one of their motels. There are no lifts to these 3rd floor units (which I knew when booking). It was extremely hot and muggy and unfortunately the push open kitchen window, being on an acute angle, had no stay to keep […] it open so I had to use a can of coke to keep it open. The bathroom window had a broken stay and the window above the toilet had no stay at all so I wedged that one open with the spare toilet roll and so managed to get some breeze. The shower is high off the ground and the base was so slippery I had to put the shower mat down so I wouldn't slip. The water came out of a cylinder shaped affair and if you angled it up (as both my husband and I are tall), you got no water volume so we both had to crouch to shower. I rang reception and requested a rubber mat for the next morning but that never arrived and I had to use the bath mat again. In summing up, the bed was very comfortable but the room was small with only one chair and the TV was mounted on the wall beside the bed so difficult to watch with one person having to sit on the bed and the other in the comfortable chair. The shower and windows in the kitchen and bathroom badly need upgrading. However we are extremely happy with the rooms in the main part of the hotel which are serviced by a lift and we will stay there in the future but for us, we can't recommend the motels. Lees meer

Quiet neighbourhood so I got plenty rest. Great shops and restaurants within walking distance. Exceptional service from the reception staff. Very friendly, helpful and patient. The room had everything I required ie tea and coffee amenities. Room and bathroom were very clean.

Excellent 3 day stay. Everything was perfect, even the unexpected upgrade to a bigger unit with kitchen facilities. Found everything clean and tidy and all the staff most helpful. Great meals at on-site restaurant. Green link buses up on Parnell Road every 15 minutes or so very handy for commuting if you dont have your own transport. Also local bus […] went down the street hourly during day and half-hourly at peak time. All up very good value and would certainly stay there again. Lees meer

Cute studio room in great condition, reasonably heated, and good bed. Events held at the hotel make parking difficult until after the meetings end (before 10 p.m.), but free once there's space, parking is available on the street until then (although hotel doesn't advise it). Wi-Fi is overpriced (by MB). Reception didn't explain much or volunteer much […] help, but were happy to assist when asked. Our family enjoyed our stay at the Quality Hotel Barrycourt. The staff was very friendly and organized with bookings. Checking-in was a breeze and with late check out giving us plenty of time to feed and prepare our child before heading off the road. Parking was free and no problem. The Barrycourt is so central to the CBD, Parnell and Newmarket, three must see areas. The big bonus for us was the free parking as we were able to walk to most places especially the Domain and Museum. Staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is comfortable. The only drawback was that the rooms are not noise proof. During our stay there were people came in for a conference and they were talking and walking around in the middle of the night and we could hear them takling and laughing. A surprisingly large hotel in a quiet area of Auckland, but with quite a walk (15 mins) to the nearest restaurants and bars and the bus stop to central Auckland.
