Sugar Ridge in Bolans

First time in Antigua and surprised by the quality of the Sugar ridge. Accomodation in separate housed villas with plunge pools on the terrace with amzing views of both the hillside and the ocean. Staff incredibily friendly and high level of service. Food to match with all meals being great especially at the gourmet restuarant Carmichaels which matches […] any London high end place but with the added bonus of incredible views perched at the highest point on the ridge. We loved our stay at this relatively new resort. The owners have worked very hard to reach a high level of service from all of their staff members. But most impressive with the service was how the staff treated us like family all the way to the time of departure (thanks for the hug, Natasha). The resort has high quality indoor & outdoor building materials […] to make for lovely "living". The rooms are heavenly & our one friend commented that she felt like she was in a Harlequin romance laying on the poster bed. The pictures posted with the hotel description is exactly what you get. The food was very good at both restaurants & the room rate with the breakfast plan is a very good value. The view from Carmichael's is one of the best views we've seen having traveled all over the world. Bravo Sugar Ridge! We'll be back. Lees meer

Sugar Ridge Hotel is across the street from Jolly Beach Resort and they are opposites of each other. Sugar Ridge is a beautiful hotel with beautiful rooms but one must travel to get to anything. Jolly Beach is not that attractive a hotel, yet it's within walking distance of a beautiful beach and Jolly Beach Harbor where there are shops and restaurants. […] Ideally, one place would have it all. In this case, I opted for the beautiful hotel, and it was. My room was esthetically beautiful and comfortable too. I can't comment on everything that Sugar Ridge offers as during my 5 days I was only able to do so much. If you enjoy being able to walk to the beach at any time of day or night don't stay at Sugar Ridge. If you don't mind taking a shuttle to a beach to spend a few hours, then it might work for you. If having a beautiful bathroom is important (even if the shower pressure is not that great and it literally runs hot and cold) then you would like Sugar Ridge. If quality of food is important, than Sugar Ridge is a match, as whatever food I ate in the Sugar Club restaurant was delicious. I did not get to try Carmichael's which is supposed to be fantastic and one of the best in Antigua. Overall, the service at Sugar Ridge was good, if one doesn't mind waiting a bit. But then, when on Antigua one's whole pace slows down, so waiting is not as horrendous an experience it often is in our regular lives. So, the conclusion of this review is that it depends on what you're looking for. I wanted to stay in a beautiful, quiet room and I did. Next time, I think I'll try to find the esthetically pleasing hotel that is also on the esthetically pleasing beach, i.e., I'll try to have it all. Lees meer

This is a beautiful hotel. We enjoyed the setting and our room. However, the amount of money you pay for this room is not worth it as the service is not at all what it should be. I expected A LOT more for what we paid. The front desk told us they had no ideas for when we we wanted to snorkel. They didn't know where to get the gear. Really?? And the […] shuttle service they provide is abysmal. We waited for close to an hour to get a ride back from the beach. We ended up renting a car after that episode. We didn't want to rely on their incredibly unreliable service. If you are looking for a beautiful place and don't expect much from them, this could be a great place for you. Lees meer

I was very impressed with the hotel..Great friendly staff the only disadvantage is the restaurant closes way to early at nights.

Beautiful rooms, good food and friendly staff. Not very close to much, renting a car is a must!

Where do we begin to talk about this welcoming and restful resort perched on a mountainside in Antigua.Built in 2009 it is the epitome of class, comfort and quality with it's 2 boutiiques,2 pools and world class spa (Aveda) wih wonderfully trained technicians who did the best pedicures we've ever had. The greatest surprise was Mark the Sassoon and Paris […] trained hairdresser who transformed me from the wild haired woman I was into the person I recognized on my last morning there before I headed for home. LOL...Perhaps the most comfortable beds we''ve ever slept in, and we travel a lot, Wish we could have taken one home with us. Having suffered the wrath of hurricane Earl on the other side of the island, it was a pleasure to relocate to Sugar with it's 4 silent generators that assured us a steady supply of light and A/C when many places on the island were still in the dark. The last night my husband and I spent in Carmichael's the restaurant that sits at the top of the mountain under the stars, with Venus glistening close enough to touch, was nothing short of magical...We ate scrumptious lamb chops danced alongside the infinity pool and fell in love all over again. Our only negative is that hand rails are needed to negotiate the stairs leading down to the suites that are unevenly spaced. It's also easy to get locked out on the patio as there is no door handle on the ouside. The staff is very helpful and friendly especially the servers at the Sugar Club and Carmichael's...The bathroom fixtures are awesome and not to be gross, ish our toilets at home flushed like theirs.Snowy white robes and Sugar Club flip flops greeted us in the closets...The great bonus in our suite was what we thought was a seat at the bottom of the bed that ended up being a huuuuuge storage chest when we lifted the cover. Great place to sequester luggage and other belongings...Ken the resident taxi driver is friendly, punctual and more than fair with his rates...Oh don't forget to have dinner at OJs Lees meer

Sugar Ridge was an excellent place to spend a vacation. The rooms are very nicely equipped -- contemporary and comfortable. Each room has a balcony with an unbelievable view. The hotel has two restaurants -- both very good -- and two pools. The infinity pool at the top of the hill is phenomenal. The included breakfast is exceptional -- albeit a little […] slow. The hotel shuttle service is typically provided by Vorn (pronounced Vaughn) and he is excellent. While not on the ocean, they will take you to any of the surrounding beaches and pick you up whenever you'd like. They will also take you to local restaurants. Personally, I'd recommend The Nest beach. Turner's beach is also nice, but The Nest is phenomenal. On Sundays, stay away from Jolly Harbour for dining and eat at the hotel instead. The local places are closed Sundays and the other choices are poor (even following Vorn's recommendation). Stick with local food and you won't be disappointed. Lees meer

Very lovely hotel. Its new and they have a few kinks to work out but they are small. Rooms are lovely and comfortable. Very clean, classy, and shiny new. They are smaller than the pics suggest but nothing unusual and quite adequate. My biggest complaint is that there is no access to ice you have to have it sent to your room and the buckets barely hold […] 2 glasses worth of ice. Not sure I would stay here if stairs are a problem for you. The rooms are up the hill and can be a good hike but not an issue for most people. The only other alternative is to have the staff give you a ride which they are happy to do. I recommend renting a car if you stay here. Without it you will be relying on the staff to ferry you to the local beaches. Staff is over all very helpful and pleasant especially when compared to many of the local restaurants on the island. The Sugar Club has some very good dining, service can be extrememly good to borderline poor. I suspect this is mostly new staff kinks. Carmichaels is ok, fantastic view but menu is limited and has too much local beef (local beef is not good by US standards) I hightly recommend the Sugar Club. Lees meer

Nach europäischen Verständnis keine 3 Sterne. Sind nach der ersten Nacht in ein anderes Hotel gegangen: Zimmer klein und ungepflegt Sauberkeit in den Zimmer unbefriedigend Abends stand Insektenvertilgungsmittel über dem Hang, auf dem die Zimmer liegen Minibar mit 2 Flaschen Wasser befüllt Pool, Restaurant und Speisen gut

Très bon service, hotel très bien entretenu, je recommande de louer une voiture pour pouvoir profiter de l ile et de toutes ses plages

L'hotel ha circa un anno, quindi, la struttura e' nuovissima e curatissima, ha una posizione leggermente sopraelevata che permette una fantastica vista sul mare, sia dalle camere che dall'ottimo ristorante. L'hote e' situato a 2 min. Di macchina da Jolly harbor (per me uno dei migliori posti di Antigua, molti negozi, bar,ristoranti e una bellissima […] camminata lungo il porto) e a 5 min. Da tre spiagge fantastiche con due ristoranti connessi all'hotel, quindi comodità assoluta! Lees meer
