Our stay was okay. We had stayed here a month earlier and our room was nicer, the bed was much better and the internet worked in that room. This stay the bed was not nearly as comfortable and the internet did not work at all in the room. I had to go to the business center to finish up business and could not be in the comfort of our room with TV to finish […] up business. Seems to me a motel that has mostly business clientele would work really hard to have the internet working in all rooms on a week night. In this day and age I will never understand the lack of concern for good quality internet service in every room. The room was okay. No refrigerator and the last room we had here had one so we planned on that. We carry food on trips so we don't have to eat out all the time. Very disappointed with that. The motel has some very good qualitys but needs to keep up with the times. Lees meer

This is an older hotel, but we didn't expect to have to keep our windows open the entire stay due to its being too warm in the room in late April. The outside weather was only in the 50's and it was hot in our room the entire stay. No working thermostat that we could see to turn down. The shower was also intermittently too hot or too cold. We were also […] surprised at check out time, that we were charged for parking our car there the entire stay. You would think that a hotel could offer free parking to its hotel customers. I like that the gym and all classes are free with your stay. I do not like that you have to pay up to $25 a night for parking. I do not like that the walls are paper thin, I do not like that the pluming is ancient and you have to really use some muscle to turn on the shower. The Milwaukee Athletic Club is pretty much what it sounds like -- an old-fashioned, wood-paneled club where one can imagine the captains of industry sipping scotch in the lounge after their afternoon swim. However, they also function as a hotel. The room we stayed in was plain, somewhat spartan, but satisfactory overall. Very nice pool, sauna and steam […] room. Be prepared for the gender segregation (men's and women's separate facilities). They did have free wi-fi, unlike many more "upscale" hotels. Stayed here this past week for a night away with a few friends. Room was very spacious, bed was comfy, front desk was incredibly friendly. We checked in and immediately were leaving for dinner. We asked for the front desk to call a cab and instead they gave us a ride in the shuttle to where we were headed. The gentleman also provided us his number for […] a return ride home. We had an event in the hotel early the next morning which is the main reason we picked it. Found out when we checked out that parking at the hotel was $15. Will probably stay there again.

The staff was very friendly, and the location of the hotel was nice. Other than that I was not very impressed with my stay. The bed was very uncomfortable.

We loved staying at the Milwaukee Athletic Club. It's a great location, in very short walking distance to a lot of restaurants, bars and theaters. The health club facilities are top notch, and not crowded. We swam in the very large pool. The historic building is beautiful, and really worth exploring. The only issue was getting breakfast on Saturday […] morning. There are only a few places in walking distance, and one of them was closed for a special event (the tea room). Very nice, Old but well maintained & clean, Staff helpful, workout areas & pool great. Room very large with good views & 3 sunny windows. Variable water temperature in shower, but it wasn't too bad. Location great for walking to museums, lakefront, theaters, and restaurants.

This is the place to be if you are attending a theater production. There are fun restaurants within walking distance. You can also walk to any theater. The staff was friendly and efficient.

We stayed here due to proximity to the Riverside Theatre. Had heard mixed reviews. Seemed some liked the place, some didn't. We thought it was very charming, clean and comfortable. More affordable than some of the other options in the area and it was within walking distance of the theatre district. Very cool neighborhood. Was a great size room, very very comfortable bed, nice view! Bathroom was huge too. It was a really great room all together. Only.complaint is that u had to ask the front desk for vending cuz there isn't ant, only for staff but most will get it for u. It was beautiful tho, with a hint of old fashion in the rooms. I chose the Milwaukee Athletic Club because it was within walking distance of the Marcus Center and reasonably priced. The building and room were what I expected from reviews that I read. The bathroom was dated and it took me awhile to get the shower temperature adjusted because there were separate controls for the shower and tub. The water temperature changed a couple of times (I assume it was when someone flushed a toilet in another room), but it was OK. My wife decided to pass on the shower because the shower curtain came off the rod and she was not tall enough to put it back. We wanted to eat at an ethnic restaurant, so we did not eat in the dining room or grill. Karl Ratzsch's German restaurant is located in the adjoining building (literally 50 yards for door to door) and is highly recommended. Lucky for me I was only here one night and was spending very little time in the room. The front desk and lobby area of the hotel was nice. I had no issues with valet. However, I was dissapointed with the room. The hallways smelt like moth balls and dust. The room had this old wood paneling that was dark brown and kind of gross looking. The room was […] awkwardly set up with too much open space and this weird painting on the wall. The tv was probably 32 inches mounted on a bare wall. So when you were laying in bed you can hardly read the text cause the tv was so small against that huge wall. It was also on the other side of the room. The only good thing was the bed was clean and relatively comfortable. The curtains didn't block the light so it was not dark at all which was annoying. Overall I would never stay here again and was dissapointed that the guy on the phone from hotels.com described it as 'just gorgeous.' it definitely wasn't. Lees meer

Truly enjoyed ourselves. Lot of customer service, personable service especially Will at the front desk along with all the front desk folks. I felt so welcome by the lady at the health club (Lois). We will come back! Thank you for a memorable stay.

This location was convenient for what we needed. The price was very reasonable but the room itself was average.

The Milwaukee Athletic Club is primarily known for its sports and events facilities, but it also has 60 guest rooms. The MAC is housed in a beautiful, historic building that has been kept in perfect repair. The lobby is elegant--more what you'd expect from a grand hotel than an athletic club. My room was large, very quiet, nicely decorated with traditional […] furniture, and had a beautiful view of downtown. Hotel guests have access to the rest of the club-gyms and swimming pools. Both the front desk and housekeeping staff were friendly and helpful. The MAC has three venues for food and drink, as well as limited room service. Valet parking only, should have a self-park option. Front Desk staff was friendly, but very SLOW.

I had a 4 night stay here for a business trip. The hotel lobby looked great and the staff checking people in were great. Although the room was adequate for a business trip, and the price was right in a time when a company is keeping expenses down, I will not stay here again. I checked in on a Monday and my room was serviced the next morning, but not […] again the rest of the week. There were no extra outlets by the desk, leaving me to scatter my work-related plugins around the room. While showering, the water would instantly turn scalding hot with no notice, stay scalding hot no matter how I adjusted the temp and then return to warm; leaving me with red splotches. Given the low rate compared to other hotels in the area, I should have had low expectations but having a dirty room all week helped me make up my mind - not coming back. Lees meer

We were fortunate to get one of the 60 guest rooms at this fantastic building. The MAC is full of great athletic amenities certainly, but art and architecture and wonderful appointments abound. If you are headed to Milwaukee and want a great downtown stay. Check this out. In the heart of downtown, with shuttle service that will get you anywhere nearby […] and in walking distance of much you will want to see. My highest reccomendation for the MAC. We just visited Milwaukee for the weekend to attend concerts at the Riverside. The location was great for where we wanted to go, and the service was very friendly. We didn't use pool or athletic facilities, but i did get a tour from the fellow behind the desk.i would recommend staying there.

Classic hotel, for a great value. A bit "aged" in some places so don't expect brand new, but a pleasure to stay in. The front desk was extraordinarily helpful and the room was comfortable. I would most certainly stay there again.

This hotel is very old, and it shows. We were not impressed with the condition of the hotel nor the service from the front desk. Twice on the Saturday of our stay we had to call the front desk with issues, once at midnight and once at 3 am - our requests/concerns were ignored both times. We were in town for a wedding, and had friends staying at multiple […] hotels in the area. All of the other hotels our friends were at were MUCH nicer and within a 3-4 block radius of where we were. I would suggest paying the extra $10-20 a night and stay at a much nicer hotel with fewer issues. Lees meer

Very pleasant property. Nice friendly staff, older building, but very clean rooms and great beds. Good location - only about a 10 minute walk to all the cafes in the 3rd Ward. and the Public Market.

We had tickets to the Pabst Theatre. The Milwaukee Athletic club was only a block or so away. There are bistros, restuarants, riverside walks, many things to see and do near the hotel. The hotel is a classic ! Lots of polished brass and dark wood. Many historical items and information is displayed in the lobby. The rooms are very large and the beds […] are huge ! Nice place. i've stayed at the pfister (which is the premier hotel in milwaukee) and the rooms at the mac were larger and more accessible. would stay there again for sure!

Everything was will maintained, but the rooms had clearly not been remodeled since the 70's or 80's. Did not get to use many of the services since we were only at the hotel at night. Would have liked to use the pool or the roof top deck. Friendly staff.

Hotel is located in an EXCELLENT part of the city. A downfall is that men and women can't swim together in the pool. The quality of the hotel room is good, but the room itself is a little bit on the "old" side. The shampoo, lotion, soap, etc. is pretty sparce. I got a good deal because this hotel was on "special" on hotels.com, but I wouldn't stay here […] if I wanted to feel luxurious. The Howard Johnson on Wisconsin Ave. feels even nicer than this, but we tend you usually like the old, rustic hotels with class, age, and character. This hotel sorta felt a little bit staunchy. Overall, it was a nice hotel, but not my favorite. It's also not kid friendly. Lees meer

The queen suites have showers only which was incredibly disappointing to someone looking forward to a long hot bath. Also, the walls were very thin. Unfortunately, we were subjected to what sounded like a dirty movie being made. It was well maintained for a historic hotel.
