Pilgrim Inn in Southampton

Having read the reviews we had high expectations of the hotel. We were given the accessable room - complete with rusted bath chair for use in the wet room style bathroom. I think disabled guests would feel the bathroom was somewhat neglected.Our evening meal did not start well - lipstick stained glass. Taken to our table but not given wine list , no […] mention of the specials board which we had noticed on our way in . Food was excellent - but why have a large candle on the table if you are not going to light it ?We were given £15 reduction when my husband mentioned that the large showerhead needed fixing ( having droped on his foot during a shower ) but do not think we will be going back to Pilgrims Inn Lees meer

Excellent hotel, great service and great rooms. Food was superb. Lots of free parking and free Wifi. I was impressed!!

A very nice place to stay and loved the pub/restaurant next 20 metres away. A very quiet and peaceful setting. Great food for an evening meal , very nice breakfast with attentive staff. Our only minor concerns were... the bed was far too soft compared to our memory foam mattress at home, slight back ache next morning... and was it worth the extra B&B […] rates compared to elsewhere? We think slightly overpriced. Apart from that, we would stay again, but only for one night or my back could ache even more. Lees meer

Stayed for two nights over New Year and had a great time. The locals made us feel very welcome and we saw the New Year Inn with lots of drinks and food. Ideal situation for New Forest and in the spring and summer the location would be marvellous. The staff were a pleasure to be around and were all very friendly. The food was good and the room was great. […] The only fault we could find was that we were on the ground floor and we could hear people above but after a few drinks this did not seem to be that important. Will certainly be returning again later on in the year and this is a big thank you to all the nice staff Lees meer

We only stayed one night as a friend of ours was getting married locally. Couldn't fault it in any way. Staff were very helpful and our room was spotlessly clean and very tastefully decorated. All in all we felt thoroughly spoilt and got excellent value for money. Would definitely recommend to friends.

We stayed at the Pilgrim Inn for 3 nights from 4-6 November 2011. We found the reception on arrival from the deputy manager was very warm. She took us to our rooms which were well appointed and we were offered fresh milk to take to our room, which was a nice touch. We ate in the restaurant at the hotel on all three evenings and the food and service […] from the staff overall was very good. On one evening we bought the chef a drink as we had excellent food. The staff accommodated our special dietary needs (one of our party is Celiac) and were very friendly to our dog giving her lots of fuss and biscuits. We were however very disappointed to be advised when we came to pay the bill that there was a £45 charge for having a dog in the room. We had been told earlier in the stay by the manager that we should have been allocated a room on the ground floor rather than the first floor due to the dog and we offered to move rooms but were told this was not necessary. I called the Inn before the stay to check that they definitely took dogs and to check if they could cater for someone with Celiac. At no time was I informed that there would be a charge of £15 per night for the dog and this would certainly have affected my decision to book these rooms. We asked why there was a charge and were informed it was to thoroughly clean the room for any future guests who may have allergies. Whilst I can understand the charge and would in principle have accepted a one off charge for the dog I do not accept there should be a daily charge as the room would only need to be cleaned once. We were advised by the manager that these charges were set out on the internet but in fact all that is stated on the internet is as follows: “Pets Please contact the manager for details.” Having spent a lot of money between four of us at the Inn for a 3 night break we feel this charge was excessive and certainly not made clear in our booking or at check-in. I stayed alone at The Pilgrim Inn for 3 nights in September 2011. I chose the location as it was near where I wanted to be during the day. The room was on the ground floor facing the building with the pub… surprisingly, it was very quite or I wasn’t a light sleeper those 3 nights. The room was nicely layout in a traditional mock rustic décor and very […] clean. The bed was softer than what I am used to but it was very comfortable all the same. The bathroom/toilet was and modern and spacious. The staff are helpful, cheerful and friendly. Checking in and checking out was fast and efficient. I had dinner one of the evening in pub… the food and the service was excellent despite it being a busy night. The only thing that annoyed me was that the lighting in the room was too dim and made reading difficult. Lees meer

We really enjoyed our stay and cannot think of any negative points. The staff we're really helpful and warm. It was very clean and the bed was unbelieveably comfortable. Would recommend.

My wife and I stayed here on our 25th wedding anniversary and we couldn't recommend the Pilgrim Inn more highly! The attention to detail in the rooms is extremely good and the welcome from the staff and owners first class. Combined with award winning food and a good central location, we definitely recommend you stay here.

we found the hotel to be very nice but felt it would of been easier and quicker to check in at the hotel reception and not the pub, as it was very busy and had to wait quite a while. Also we had a problem with fire alarms going off at night which dampened our stay. But overall the staff and cleanliness was very good.
