THC Bergantín Hostel in Madrid

I chose this hostel as it offered a less fussy alternative to most of the other hostals I found in Madrid. It certainly met my expectations in this way - the decor is clean and crisp, nice linen, ensuite and flat screen tv. My room had air conditioning/heating and a little balcony onto the street. The staff were nice too and you have a key to the building […] so you can come and go as you please. My only problem was the noise, there is an Irish pub directly beneath the hotel and there were people on the street all night every night. Saying this, it IS in the very centre of Madrid, so this should be expected. The walls are also very thin so you can hear everything that's going on. If you're a heavy sleeper, this is the perfect budget hostal and if not, bring earplugs! Lees meer

I stayed in this hotel for 5 days and i was extremely satisfied with everything: from location to cleanliness, staff and my room.It is a good place to stay for a short visit to Madrid.Very central, u can actually see plaza Puerta del Sol from your window, surrounded by a lot of restaurants, shops and bars, all reachable by a short walk.It's 10 min walk […] to Plaza Mayor, Gran Via..no matter in which direction you choose to walk, there is always something to see or to do.It's a very lively neighborhood and if you are looking for a quiet night's sleep, city center is not the place as parties are going on till 4 am in the morning. The girls at the reception are very helpful and friendly, ready to help with everything (thank you Silvia and Lucretia). The rooms are small compared to hotel standards but very comfortable, very clean and nicely furnished.Hair dryers and irons are available at reception for no charge, all rooms have wifi which actually works well and air condition which can be set up by remote.rooms get a lot of sun as they are at the fourth floor of a building which shares space with other hostel.Tvs are new, flat tvs, i didn't see any english channels but this didnt bother me at all as i speak spanish a little bit.No coffee/tea facilities in the room either but for 1.20 eur u can get a tasty coffee anywhere.My advice is to go there for 50 eur a night u get all these and breakfast too at a place called Taberna de Marciano about 2 min walk from hotel and consists of croissant, cofee, a fruit and fresh juice. La ubicación en pleno centro es bárbara. El propio hostal en sí no está mal, pero es muy mejorable: las habitaciones son pequeñas y tienen muy poco mobiliario donde colocar los bultos de viaje. A determinadas horas, hay poca cantidad de agua en la ducha. Es un poco ruidoso durante la noche. Desistimos de la habitación, no utilizamos el servicio y tubimos que cancelar una noche como penalidad. En el hall de acceso estaban trabajando obreros de mantenimiento o reconstrucción, el pasillo sin luz, el asensor sucio y oscuro. Daba sensación de inseguridad, por lo que solicitamos cancelar la reservación y fuimos penalizados sin considerar los […] inconvenientes que tenian. La oferta en la pagina www no indica que solo tienen un piso del inmueble y el edifficio es compartido con otras actividades. Solo tienen una placa indicativa de la posada en la entrada el edificio. Very nice place to stay. You are basically in the center of the center! Really nice personnel, cozy rooms and good standard.
