Epihotel Appia ligt in Psirri in Athene, dicht bij Kotzia Square, Agora en Roman Agora. In de buurt liggen ook Parthenon en Akropolis.

In openbare ruimtes is een draadloze snelle internetverbinding gratis beschikbaar, terwijl de accommodatie over een computer met internetverbinding beschikt. Het personeel kan op verzoek hulp bij excursies/tickets en zakelijke diensten regelen. Extra voorzieningen zijn onder andere een conciërgebalie, meertalig personeel en een wasserij.

Gezellige staf die goed Engels spreekt en erg hulpvaardig is. Sanitar in goede conditie. Bedden zoals normaal in Griekenland van een wat harde binnenvering soort. We kregen een ruimere kamer aangeboden zonder er om gevraagd te hebben en zonder bijbetaling. Omonia plein is op loopafstand (6 blokken ver). Internet (2x) is gratis. Goede prijs/kwaliteit verhouding voor Athene.

Het hotel ligt letterlijk naast de acropolis, dit is een zeer goede buurt. Het personeel is vriendelijk, ontbijt prima en de kamers zijn heel schoon.

Psirri, eens de wijk van de leerlooierijen, is een aantal jaren gelden getransformeerd in de belangrijkste uitgaanswijk van Athene. De wijk staat vol bars, taveernes en dansclubs, en biedt veel entertainment. Verschillende bars met Latijnse en Oosters thema's voegen fleur toe. Psirri komt tot leven wanneer het donker wordt, hoewel de naburige centrale markt overdag de moeite waard is.

"quiet hotel near to Plaka and museums"
i enjoyed my two nights at the hotel appia, although i didn't spend much time there: it is quite close to the parts of athens that visitors want to see, so i spent most of my time in the museums or wandering around the Plaka and the Agora. the staff is efficient and friendly. the neighborhood is somewhat seedy, and police are constantly herding flocks […] of illegal immigrants into a corner of two neighboring buildings, but the large police presence actually makes the area seem quite safe. Much like everyone else said... The staff at the hotel make the hotel what it is. They are incredibly kind and helpful. The hotel itself is very cheap and basic. It's a place to put your head down and rest your belongings while you're out. We stayed there 3 times and had very different rooms. Our first was much like a prison cell. But if you're on a […] budget this works! The second were a bit bigger and more comfortable with a better view. IF you are not used to seedy areas then I would not book this hotel. This area can feel very uncomfortable with the amount of immigrant men who's eyes follow you down the street. The only females on the street come out at night to work, or are random tourists throughout the day. There is a police presence that round up men and stash them in a tour bus turned paddy wagon outside the hotel doors all day long. I would be very wary to book this hotel as a single woman. "Good budget option"
The service at this hotel was outstanding, and it was a great deal for the price--plenty of room, and even a balcony. Two major negatives: (1) paper-thin walls. The folks in the room next to us one night were up late, and it sounded like they were in the room with us. (2) the neighborhood is not the best. The Omonia area is where many illegal immigrants […] end up, and a lot of them are on the street (along with substantial police presence) much of the time. In our five day stay, we were only uncomfortable in the surrounding neighborhood once or twice, but if you're wary of that sort of thing, you probably won't like walking out the front door. "Rooms differ a lot!"
We stayed in this hotel twice, and the difference in hotel rooms was huge. First time, nice clean room with balcony and working AC, last time we had an old room with not-quite-working AC, no balcony and very bad view to old ruined surrounding buildings. "surprisedly good"
The hotel is very close to the mainstreet Athina. There were always two or three policemen sitting directly in front of the hotel door and caring for the security. The staffs were very friendly and the room was clean. We did not expect very much when we booked the hotel. But it turned out that it was really worth for the price we paid.

The only good points are the location of the hotel in the city center and the very friendly stuff; unfortunately the surroundings are very noisy, with the Pentecostal Church across the street staging loud prayers late into the night and with the police chasing "illegals" right in front of the hotel, the whole day and every night. "Some Mixed Feelings, But Overall "Yes""
Upon arrival to Hotel Appia, I immediately felt a bit concerned, particularly due the surrounding area. Quite honestly, the hotel is located in one of the more seedy areas of Athens, with prostitutes within arms length, Athens police directly outside of the hotel, & a barrage of immigrants around. Nevertheless, after I entered the hotel, I was pleasantly […] surprised. The hotel staff is absolutely wonderful, very welcoming, are available to answer any questions, provide suggestions regarding all sorts of things, & make you feel at home. I spent several nights there, often chatting with the night clerk ... it was truly a pleasure filled with laughter and coffee/tea drinking! As far as the room itself, it's basic. I resided in a single room with my own bathroom and enjoyed it. There's no AC, yet the fan and night breeze was sufficient. And, surprisingly (given the area), it was very quiet and peaceful ... I slept well every night! The cleanliness of the room was adequate, and no critters made their dwelling in my midst. So, overall, if you can overcome the seedy area and lack of AC, you'll be just fine at Hotel Appia. Safe residing! Lees meer

The hotel had the nicest front desk staff I have ever encountered anywhere. Very helpful and polite. The room was ok, the air conditioner leaked and kept turning off, but they fixed it every time. The internet was spotty in the room, but worked well in the lobby. The location is ok, once you find it! The hotel is much like hostel but no fun, very quiet. If you are looking for a cheap place to sleep in Athens with a good location, Eppia would be your very first choice. The location of the hotel is ok and not hard to find it though the surroundings don't look impressed at the first time. Overall it's good and I would recommend you to sleep here.

The Hotel Appia is the most econimic hotel I found. It is clean and the people who work there is very nice. It is 10 minutes walking distance from the Acropolis, Archaeological Museum and main turistic areas. Très bon accueil, personnel à l'écoute et sympathique. l'hotel est situé dans un quartier cosmopolite, très animé, et proche des lieux touristiques (acropole, plaka, ...) très bon rapport qualité /prix.

It's a cheap hotel. You can't imagine the same situation as other hotels with much more higher price. But the situation is still comfortable. Most important is: the location is really good and the owner of the hotel is really really kind. He will give you a a a lot of important information and language support. "Le strict minimum"
Hotel juste pour dormir. La rue est mal famée mais la police est très très présente. Aucun comfort. Grande chaleur dans la chambre, heureusement qu'il y a un ventilateur au plafond mais il est bruyant donc prévoir les boule kiesse... Il y a un ordi avec accès internet à l'accueil, la carte est à 5€ pour 3 heures. La réceptionniste est très chaleureuse […] et donne beaucoup d'informations. Il y a des petites épiceries pas chères dans les environs. Allez dans cet hotel vraiment si vous n'avez pas le budget de vous payer mieux !!! Lees meer

Stannade på hotellet i två dagar och under första natten började det brinna i närliggande hus och andra natten gjorde polisen razzia i samma hus. Inget område man vandrar runt i själv om man inte vill bli rånad. Personalen var trevlig men rummet var under all kritik. Fläkten satt löst och lät som ett tröstverk! Området är inget trevligt alls. Narkomaner […] kan ses injicera droger mitt på gatan, prostituerade ropar efter en på nätterna, folk ligger och sover på gatorna osv osv. Det som är bra är att det är rätt mycket poliser som patrullerar. Bättre att lägga några kronor extra på att hamna i ett finare område, typ runt Akropoli! Lees meer

Дружелюбный обслуживающий персонал, расположение отеля недалеко от метро Оммония, но... на улицу ночью лучше не выходить, если не хотите нарваться на "приключения". В номере нет холодильника, нет сейфа, но зато есть огромный вентилятор в потолке и раковина в номере (все остальное (туалет, душ - в коридоре).

The price was low,so the budjet travellers this is a good choice.Hotels level was hostel and it is located quite interesting area...I was the only woman in that area,all the rest people was arabic or islamic people.Wouldnt walk there as a white woman alone.But in the stores people were friendly even though they didnt speak english.The rooms were clean […] and bathroom/showers were ok.Dont expect a hotel this is a hostel!Near by is a metrostation and many places to eat fast food or a local food.We spent 2 nights and it was ok. The hotel is rather looking like a hostel with double rooms, equipment is really very basic and old- The staff however is nice and helpful. The area is very scary, it is in the worst district in the center, women are not adviced to walk there alone. anyway for this price it is a fair choice.
