Very cute little spot right in the heart of downtown. Walking distance to local shops, breweries and restautants. Staff was very nice, friendly and helpful! Probably one of the most confortable bed ive slept it and the have records and record players you can borrow for you room, such a unique experience! Thank you!!

We didn’t realize this when booking (maybe it should’ve been made more obvious in the hotel description), but the bathrooms and showers at this property are communal. We wouldn’t be keen during the best of times—so imagine how much less keen we were in the middle of a global pandemic. It was also very cold in the room. So, all in all, we spent as little time in the hotel as possible, which was unfortunate since part of what we were hoping for was a cozy place to call “home” while visiting Astoria. The staff was kind. No complaints there.

This place was very cute. They remodeled but kept it very similar to its old style. They even kept the sinks in the bedrooms. Really cool. It was very clean and I felt safe. It was quiet when I stayed and the beds are amazing.!! They even accommodated my late arrival ! I will certainly stay here again when visiting Astoria.:)

Norblad is in a great location. The staff should be trained a little more in customer service. Things seemed a bit frantic. No one answered the phone or text messages, which is absolutely frustrating when you’re trying to change dates for your stay. Had to go through Expedia and even they couldn’t get through to Norblad. Finally we were able to connect and they took care of everything. We asked for an early check in. And the room attendant waited to clean our room LAST when she should have cleaned it first if she knew we were patiently waiting and had previously requested an early check in. Wasn’t seamless like how a hotel stay should be. A bit stressful.

We were a little dismayed at first with having a shared bath. It turned out not to be a problem other than one 2AM trip down the hall in pjs. The bathrooms were spacious and scrupulously clean. The staff were so friendly and proactively helpful to the point of writing us a lengthy list of where to eat and drink. Very central location.

Location is fantastic, though noisy. I suspect noise is an issue in many rooms as the walls are thin and could easily hear doors opening/closing and people in walkway. No AC though that is typically not an issue at the coast. However, if you want windows open expect to hear lots of street noise...including deliveries to the adjacent brewery that happened through the night. They do supply earplugs...never a good sign! Room and lobby were very clean. I watched a little of the cleaning routine when checking out and it looked like they were putting in a lot of effort. My room was overpriced in my opinion. I booked a suite with a private bath w/ combo shower+_tub. If I indeed got a suite, this is the loosest definition of a suite that I've ever heard - they count the entrance foyer to the room/bathtroom as the second room??? It was maybe 60 square feet. Also, just a shower. Not worth an extra $50/night...but be aware that the cheaper rooms have a shared bath.

The front staff was very friendly and helpful. It was a nice room, but noisy from the bottling early in the morning across the street.

This place was just so-so - more like an upscale youth hostel. An older property with creaky floors and few amenities (even less with Covid). Shared showers and toilets, small TV with no cable, early morning street noise and soft bed. Young guys handing out in the lobby (without masks) after hours and the desk closed at 8:00pm. Location is good for restaurants/nightlife.

Our Expedia confirmation said check in was at 3pm. We were walking downtown & decided to pop in at 2:40pm to see about checking in & find out about parking since our car w/ bags was parked a few blocks away. If it was ready we were going to go collect our car and come back. A gentleman greeted us. To which I said I know check in isn’t until 3, but we were walking by and thought we’d check it out and see if the room is ready. The employee said “check-in is at 4”. I explained I thought my confirmation said 3. To which he replied “No. 4.” and then turned his back to me. After an awkward several seconds of silently being ignored my husband and I went back downstairs. We were so furious with how rudely we were treated, especially since our confirmation email clearly said 3pm check in. We felt unwelcome. I’m fine with being told to come back later to check-in because of policy/room not ready/confirmation email is wrong, etc. No big deal, but be polite about it. I immediately booked another hotel for the night and we didn’t return. I asked Expedia to cancel our booking on our behalf- I was not about to interact with staff again. A side note is this hotel is on the 2nd floor and there is no visible elevator. Stairs are great, but not with 2 heavy suitcases.
