The Rubens At The Palace

The Rubens was a great experience, it was really close to Victoria station (5 min) walk and to a lot of sightseeing opportunities. Most of all we loved how close it was to Victoria theater as our reason for the stay was a visit to Hamilton!! The Rubens itself was typically English, a bit old fashioned (but updated thoroughly), rooms were tiny but comfortable. Loved the usb chargers (2) next to each side of the bed, so you didn't have to search for plugs. We didn't do breakfast as it was too expensive (and a lot of places around that are fantastic and cheap), but we did do our anniversary dinner there. Food was great, service was excellent, price was steep. All in all, we would do it again!

I stayed at the Rubens on a short trip. It wasn't my first stay at the Rubens and God willing it will certainly not be my last one. Everything in the hotel breathes style and class, from the very gentle and kind people at the reception desk till the excellent breakfast. I would definitely recommend staying here, next to Buckingham Palace and a two minute walk to Victoria train and tube station.

Issues with WiFi and cleanness.

Zeer vriendelijke receptie. Wij waren te vroeg maar alles werd gedaan om onze kamer zo snel mogelijk in orde te brengen. Kamer prima in orde. Zeer veel mogelijkheden voor aansluiten gsm, pc, smartphone etc. Nieuwe badkamer. Geen straatgeluid op kamer. Engels uitgebreid ontbijt via menu. Bestel wel voldoende want het is geen buffetvorm. Prima in orde en zeer vriendelijk personeel.

This was our second stay at the Rubens, we had a great experience the first time but unfortunately were very disappointed with the level of service and quality of the room this time. The fantastic service the hotel is known for was missing, it took us over 25 minutes to place a breakfast order and we had to ask for it be taken. We had a problem with the temperature of the shower in our room, it only came out scalding hot or cold. This may have been due to the hotel being busy but it was dangerously hot. The room itself was not 5 star standard. It feels a shame to leave a bad review as I really enjoyed our first stay earlier this year but too many things went wrong this time so unfortunately it will be our last.
