Courtyard by Marriott Alexandria Old Town/Southwest

The rooms were well-maintained. The heating unit and bathroom fixtures appeared to be outdated and required upgrade. The evening guest services staff was not very accommodating to customer needs. This property did not provide the Marriott brand customer service that I am used to receiving in my travels.

With the restaurant and bar area closed, the minimal breakfast was bad, orange juice, coffee, muffins - nothing more.

This location takes security very seriously. Unless you have a reservation you won’t get in and they have the front door locked at all times. Check in was super simple, and I like how they verified my license and credit card to make sure it was me. The room was very spacious for a two beds! The only thing I’d say was the lighting wasn’t too great as far as the bathroom. Some people might like it, as it’s super relaxing but I’d prefer some brightness to apply my makeup. The shower is a bit on the smaller size however the pressure is fantastic! I would definitely recommend this hotel and would more than likely come her again for my next visit to Alexandria.

Too many loud noises and constant banging of hallway door

Very nice hotel. Room was well decorated. TV was modern and we used Internet TV. WiFi speed was good. The in room coffee maker was unbelievably cheap. It was not working, as we were just staying one night I did not report it to the management. The location was a 5 minute walk to the Metro. The location was a quiet seemingly safe area.

Room smelled like mildew!!!!

Great location, very clean and inviting.

No microwave in the room

The shower did not work. The tub was stopped up and water backed up in the tub when I was trying to get the shower to work. The toilet flushed slowly on the second day and wouldn’t flush even urine and 5 sheets of toilet tissue. When the heat turned on, it was so loud that it awakened me from sleeping. When I asked if I could get a partial refund, I was told that since it was booked through a third party, Expedia, the room was prepaid and no refund could be given. I was asked if I wanted Marriott points which I am not a member. Due to Covid, I didn’t feel comfortable having a technician in my room to fix the problems. The room was also dirty. The comforter had not been changed and was dirty with a lipstick or makeup stain near the middle of the underside of it. I had cleaned the room. That’s why a technician wasn’t allowed in. Overall, not the quality as boasted by Marriott that I expected. An extremely disappointing stay.

Rooms were clean, bed was hard, no breakfast due to Covid. Good location to MGM. 3 men standing right outside the front entrance smoking weed pretty much all weekend so every time the front door opened all the smoke would come wafting in so the whole lobby of the hotel smelled like weed. Hotel staff did nothing about it.
