Our stay was good other than we were told breakfast was between 7am and 11am when in reality there was none. When we arrived after going out to a concert there were 7 police cars surrounding the front entrance. We felt very uncomfortable entering the building. We were only told to go to our rooms lock the door and dont leave. We were never informed as to what happened. The situation was not handled well by the police with the tenants. They should have made us feel more comfortable. As you can imagine we were afraid

The lobby and breakfast room were VERY clean and orderly. All food was individually wrapped. Coffee from machine was good. The old and new staff were GREAT! Our room was not stocked after the first night so we had to get towels. I assume lack of staff due to COVID. Several new employees. We stay at the same Best Western every trip to Grand Rapids and will be back.

The hallway smelled of cigarette smoke, assuming non smoking not being enforced. Closet hangrail loose/broken on left side, bathtub with soap scum ring, bathtub spout loose, door handle between room loose and broken. We asked for a blanket at the front desk for the sofa bed we used and the front desk gave us a thin mattress cover. When we said this wasn't a blanket the front desk said the mattress cover was all she could find.

Very outdated and run down. Shower curtain had some sort of pink stain which my daughter commented "looked like a unicorn was murdered in there". Sink had a crack in the bowl, mirror was missing a shard of glass on the bottom. Bathroom did not appear to be very clean. Floor tile was so shiny and super slippery when wet, not a matte or textured tile for safety purposes. Was supposed to be a non-smoking facility but the lobby smelled of cigarette smoke. Our room smelled like cigarettes which was attempted to be masked by one of those gel like room deoderizors in the closet (closet door was a curtain) that had a sickening sweet smell. Only saving grace was the staff were all very friendly.

Room was missing washcloths and TV wasn’t plugged in. There was a large crack in the sink and the latch plate on the bathroom bathroom door had a missing screw and a screw loose. The employee at the front desk was amazing. She was friendly, got us what we were missing, and dealt with multiple customers very well.

The staff was great. The room and beds were very comfortable. The only thing I would suggest is to do better removing the pet hair from the sofa. Shipping tape works great for me.

At check in, the front desk attendant informed me that I did not have a reservation. I told her I had confirmation on my phone, but I would have to go out to my car to get it. After returning with it, she then realized my reservation was in the system. Great. After finally checking into the room, I noticed dust everywhere. Everything felt dirty. There was a giant price tag sticker stuck to the inside of the lamp that someone had put there, and there was a horrible smell coming from one area of the room. I couldn’t figure out the source of the smell until I went to use the microwave. Two rotting burritos had been left in it. Suddenly the entire room was filled with the stench and I began to feel sick to my stomach. I had my son run the rotting food to the garbage can in the hall, but it took a long time for the stench to disappear. In the morning, we went to breakfast to find frozen danishes, muffins, cereal and oranges. I wasn’t expecting much, but that was just sad. Overall, it was not a pleasant stay at all.

Everything and everyone was excellent except the TV remote didn't work in spite of herculean efforts by front desk clerk. Only managed to turn it on but couldn't change channels or adjust volume.
