Disappointed and stuck in the middle of no where
The tents were more basic than described, without wifi, tea/coffee making facilities and without even a mosquito net around the bed, so all doors had to be zipped shut at all times.
While we expected an Eco lodge, there was nothing 'Eco' about the set up, it was just very basic. The lunch we were given for the Safari that we did (which was hugely over priced compared to other suppliers) was in polystyrene containers and all water was in plastic bottles. The guys at the camp were great but ultimately young teenagers and the actual 'camp' consisisted of just a restaurant area which looked dirty and full of flies.
Ultimately, while we expected a rough 'in the bush' experience, the cost of this place implied it would be 'glamping' and not roughing it. The tents were clean and the experience of staying in the bush could be seen as a great experience, but because this camp had no other facilities, you'd have nothing to do if actually at the camp. I would have been happy to pay £30 per night for this place, so were very happy when the manager allowed us to leave early without any problem. This 'camp' is really just tents in a field, a very rustic experience near Yala park, but ultimately you're not actually any closer to the entrance of the park than lots of other hotel/b&b's, and there are other hotels for less that would be more comfortable. I particularly resent paying twice the normal price for the yala safari (according to Sri Lankan friends we know) and the cost p/n.
